The Queue: And Your World Will Burn
Who's just about ready to go kill Deathwing? Me, that's who.
Completely no fooling here -- I am 100% ready to kill a dragon. It's absolutely time to get this done. He's been harshing on my buzz for an entire expansion now. I want nothing more than to get 24 folks together and go stomp on his minions until he shows up and then stomp on him twice. The second time, I'm going to wear really pointy boots.
Anyway, it's time for your questions.
Knob asks:
Am I the only one really, really enjoying the complete lack of information on what may possibly be announced at Blizzcon?
Well, Knob, we actually do know some things that will be announced at BlizzCon. There's an entire schedule of events posted, even. That said, I'm glad some things are being left to mystery as well.
Anbilow asks:
An announcement for a new expansion is expected at Blizzcon next week, but where do you think that expansion will take us? What about the main plot? Thoughts?
I'm taking this excuse to go hog wild and make some stuff up. Anne already did a good job speculating on Mists of Pandaria a while back, so I'm going at this with the presumption that it's not going to be that at all. So I'm basically answering the question What do you want it to be? rather than what I actually think it will be. Hope that's okay. If it's not... I guess you should stop reading.
I think what's going to happen is that there's going to be a lot of damage left over after ol' Neltharion gets himself stomped -- dragon aspects in turmoil, at the very least. The world pillar that holds up the elemental plains is still heavily damaged after we repaired it. The very alignment of Azeroth and her elemental planes is upset, two of the elemental lords dead, one missing. We're going to have to take the initiative and travel from Azeroth into the greater universe, using the portals on Outland as a jumping-off point, to find a way to heal Azeroth's damage and restore its proper relation to the cosmos -- and we're going to have to do it soon.
Because Azeroth is unique. Other worlds in the universe weren't made with Wells of Eternity. No other world has prevented Algalon from destroying it. Only on Azeroth has the very machinery of reorigination been halted and even shut down entirely. Velen's prophesy of the coming war between light and darkness points to Azeroth as pivotal and we have to get out there, to Legion worlds like Xoroth, to figure out how to save our own.
I also want to find out the answers to questions like If the satyrs were made from Highborne like Xavius, why are there satyrs on Xoroth? Did the Legion being some with them when the Well of Eternity imploded? and Where are Turalyon and Alleria? I think an expansion that sends us out into the far fling cosmos to find a way to save our world could be awesome.
But if it's pandas, that could be awesome too.
Sammyboy4 asks:
Will we get another heroic class like death knight in the near future or is there too many balancing issues with the other classes?
Honestly, I don't think Blizzard's going to do another hero class, because I want it so much that I expect my raw desire for WoW to have a monk class is going to puncture reality and edit the implicate order so that it can never happen. I would love a cloth till 40, then leather-wearing, staff-, dagger- and fist-weapon-using, spirit- and agi-based melee/healer/tank-capable class. You have no idea how much I would love this.
I don't know if balance is really even the problem here. The problem is we pretty much have all the classes we need.
Rhylon asks:
Are warriors capable of soloing Wrath heroic 5-mans at 85? I'm looking to grind out my Argent Crusade rep, but I don't want to harass someone into being my pocket healer.
On my main, a level 85 Tauren warrior, I have soloed Forge of Souls and Pit of Saron heroic. The trick is to avoid the mobs that put a bleed on you that ticks until you are healed to full. You'll want to bring bandages and to hug the wall when hitting the gauntlet after Ick and Krick, and remember to mount up as soon as they're dead so you can skip past the two large pulls on the way up the ramp. I haven't done Halls of Reflection yet, but I expect any of the launch Wrath heroics would be cake by comparison to the ICC 5's.

There have been no leaks about the next Xpack from that other "MMO" website. Do you think they lost their source, or are they just avoiding another cease and desist order?
Jaq Oct 17th 2011 11:10AM
Oh I assure you, if MMO-Champ came across a leak, it'd hit the front page so fast it'd make your head spin. That just seems their MO.
MattKrotzer Oct 17th 2011 11:31AM
I think Blizzard plugged some of their internal leaks this time around.
The Dewd Oct 17th 2011 12:26PM
@Krotzer - You mean they figured out who leaked to the guy who runs that other site either fired or threatened to fire them?
Pyromelter Oct 17th 2011 12:29PM
There is a phrase I learned somewhere, it goes something like this:
"It is easier to be forgiven than to get permission."
Meaning, you do something you know people wouldn't allow, and then say "Sorry! My bad, won't ever happen again," knowing full well you'll do that thing over and over. So I'm with MK2011 - Blizz plugged their leak.
Pyromelter Oct 17th 2011 12:35PM
Dewd... at the very least the person or people who leaked to MMO champ are not involved in whatever Alpha testing they are going through right now.
Since the non-disclosure agreements that companies write up tend to be iron-clad, I would guess that it was a non-employee in the F&F Alpha, because I can't see an employee of Blizzard breaking that NDA. If they did, they were very likely fired on the spot, and with cause. But seriously, that would be like professional suicide or something.
Best guess is whoever the employee was who had a friend that leaked it, that employee was likely reprimanded and not allowed to be a part of the alpha program this time around.
Arlen Oct 17th 2011 12:48PM
He already leaked MoP, months ago.
loop_not_defined Oct 17th 2011 12:59PM
@Arlen
That wasn't really a leak, it was a public filing.
I know, semantics. Still.

@Puntable and theDewd
It really is ok to say "Boubouille over at MMO-Champion" around here. WoW Insider has linked the site multiple times. It's not some mysterious dark alley.
It's ok to use names. Really. :)

I wouldn't be surprised if Blizzard tries for a few deals.
"Don't put anything up until BlizzCon and in return we'll give you much more information to go around for when things have been officially released".
I think I remember seeing a comment over "there" before that he's had information for a while just held back from posting for varying reasons.

I want a Panda monk with mad Bruce Lee kung fu skills!
Jamie Oct 17th 2011 11:12AM
INB4 People are allowed to have different opinions.
I was in Violet Hold yesterday and someone had their Panderan Monk mini pet out. Damn that thing sounds offensive.
I hope any implemented monks won't yelp at high pitch tones periodically.
MattKrotzer Oct 17th 2011 11:32AM
I still occasionally sit around with my Pandaren Monk and /bow back and forth for a while. It makes me giggle.
Jamie Oct 17th 2011 11:37AM
You're a child at heart, Krotzer. Quite clearly.
But can you resist giggling at the word "titmouse"? I don't know anyone who can.
Grovinofdarkhour Oct 17th 2011 11:48AM
I would think it was offensive too if I thought it was just intended to imitate (or mock) Asians in some way. But it appears - to me, anyway - to specifically be an imitation of/tribute to Bruce Lee. Check it out, he really did make those noises.

(That doesn't mean I don't think the Pandaren pet is annoying - I most certainly do - but I don't think it's overtly racist, which is what I assumed you were implying by "offensive".)
Noyou Oct 17th 2011 12:38PM
I have met a few Chinese people in my years. I don't get the connection between the Pandaren Monk companion pet and a real live Chinese person. Maybe that's me being naive. If so I am glad for it. It's silly. It's cartoony. I think it is working as intended.
MattKrotzer Oct 17th 2011 12:43PM
@Jamie:
Not only do I giggle, but I then google it with SafeSearch turned off.
Ellesmere Oct 17th 2011 12:53PM
Oh wow, Matt's living dangerously! :O
jwblair2 Oct 17th 2011 1:07PM
I used to watch all the Bruce Lee flix with my dad. I always thought he sounded like a chicken. The acting was horrible and all the dialog was voice over, but the crying chicken sounds always made me laugh.
Blazing Rain Oct 17th 2011 1:24PM
I think its going to be what he said up there... with Pandas!
