Combining blood sport and the art of war? Whoever gets the job has some big ole shoes to fill

Kinda gonna miss the old ones. Even if I ain't a great PvP player I always found them entertaining and informative, they helped me understand the underlying mechanics in PvP better, and class balance in general through that. So, thank you for them and good luck for the new guy!

Cynwise.
Alex Ziebart Oct 17th 2011 11:37AM
First person we tried, trust me.
Demeternoth Oct 17th 2011 11:43AM
And he said no? Oh man. Gutted!
Redbeard Oct 17th 2011 11:10AM
Where's Cyn when you need him?

Hopefully whoever this is will not just focus on the hardcore arena players.
A lot of us PvP casually and a semi-regular column for those people would be awesome. It's amazing how many people don't know the evolving strategies in WSG or AV, the nuances of gearing (is a resil trinket better than a spellpower trinket for a mage? ), and things like that.
And then, how do you get started in Arena. Do you PuG RBGs, or search for a guild (that can be a loooong search).

If only I knew more about PvP in WoW.
ScorcherZ Oct 17th 2011 1:08PM
How much arena do i need too apply?
saliira Oct 17th 2011 1:38PM
Is that a pic of Mat, Matt and Anne's horde characters?
Tyler Caraway Oct 17th 2011 2:07PM
Alas, it is not. Two of those would have to be Blood Elves.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS TO SERVE AS WOW INSIDER'S PVP COLUMNIST
The author must be able to
* use "pwned" at least twice every paragraph
* explain the terms "wizard cleave", "beast cleave", and "African turtle cleave" without laughing
* similarly, be able to use the term "pulling a train" in a column without making it sound dirty
* make it clear in every article that anyone with under 3,000 resilience should DIAF (and, if fighting a wizard cleave, quite possibly will)
* arena is 100X superior to rated battlegrounds, which is 100X superior to unrated battlegrounds, which is 100X superior to ganking players 75 levels below you in a lowbie zone. (Bonus points for knowing that Southshore/Tarren Mill was 100X superior to anything around today.)
* explain in detail today why the [death knight/druid/hunter/mage/paladin/priest/rogue/shaman/warlock/warrior] class is GROSSLY OVERPOWERED, and only kiddies who want "I WIN" buttons would play it, and Ghostcrawler and his colleagues at Blizzard (all of whom play the class and thus favor it, of course) are all retards for not nerfing the class immediately
* explain in detail in two months' time why the [death knight/druid/hunter/mage/paladin/priest/rogue/shaman/warlock/warrior] class is RIDICULOUSLY UNDERPOWERED, and only n00bs who ride the short bus to school would ever play it at all (let alone in PvP), and Ghostcrawler and his colleagues at Blizzard (none of whom play the class and thus don't know better, of course) are all retards for not fixing the class immediately
And, last but not least:
* understand that one's masculinity, virility, net worth, success at school/work, good looks, and kindness to babies and animals are all accurately measured by his arena rating
Turtell Oct 17th 2011 4:36PM
Higher arena rating = Meaner to babies?
Kick a baby in real life, get high arena rating?
yesss

I can't be this columnist BUT I have heaps of PvP pics that I'd be happy to share for the column.

Christan I will miss you music picks and good writing. Was one of my favorite parts of the site. Most the time when I arena Jack daniels sponsers me. Have made some great friends but never pushed above 1550. I normaly just get tanked and have fun with guildes on vent. Excited about having a new writer though maybe more frequent.
