The Teldrassil quests explain what happened to Fandrel--which is nice. You see the destruction of Auberdine and how the Night Elves are coping. You see the increased tension in Ashenvale and the immediate attacks from the Horde.

It is better story telling and lasts longer than one play through in my opinion.
I did Red Ridge once and that was enough.
