The OverAchiever: Continuing Littlest Pet Shop, page 2

These are more properly considered a subset of quest and reputation pets above, but most of them (not all) have the added benefit of being BOE. Check the Auction House for the opposite faction pets and any whose grinds you'd like to skip.
If you're a newcomer to the Argent Tournament, you'll find a pretty comprehensive guide on how to handle it. AT pets are also interesting in being potential rewards from the Satchel of Exotic Mysteries you receive as a Call To Arms reward, and that's a very lucrative state of affairs for tanks and healers.
- Ammen Vale Lashling Sold by the Draenei quartermaster Irisee for 40 Champion's Seals.
- Argent Squire (Alliance)/Argent Gruntling (Horde) This one's interesting. The initial version of this pet is a quest reward from a race-specific quest called A Champion Rises, which will happen after you've earned the right to represent a faction as a champion-rank jouster. For each faction you gain the right to represent, the Squire/Gruntling can display its banner for you (just talk to him and request whichever faction you want). If you purchase the Argent Pony Bridle at a steep 150 Champions' Seals, your Squire/Gruntling will also gain the ability to visit a mailbox, the bank, or a vendor on your behalf for 3 minutes every four hours.
- Dun Morogh Cub Sold by the Dwarven quartermaster Derrick Brindlebeard for 40 Champion's Seals.
- Durotar Scorpion Sold by the Orcish quartermaster Freka Bloodaxe for 40 Champion's Seals.
- Elwynn Lamb Sold by the Human quartermaster Corporal Arthur Flew for 40 Champion's Seals.
- Enchanted Broom Sold by the Blood Elven quartermaster Trellis Morningsun for 40 Champion's Seals.
- Mechanopeep Sold by the Gnomish quartermaster Rillie Spindlenut for 40 Champion's Seals.
- Mulgore Hatchling Sold by the Tauren quartermaster Doru Thunderhorn for 40 Champion's Seals.
- Sen'jin Fetish Sold by the Darkspear Troll quartermaster Samamba for 40 Champion's Seals.
- Shimmering Wyrmling Sold by the Silver Covenant quartermaster Hiren Loresong (Alliance) or the Sunreavers quartermaster Vasarin Redmorn (Horde) for 40 Champion's Seals.
- Teldrassil Sproutling Sold by the Night Elf quartermaster Rook Hawkfist for 40 Champion's Seals.
- Tirisfal Batling Sold by the Forsaken quartermaster Eliza Killian for 40 Champion's Seals.

Many profession pets (principally the engineering ones) used to be BOP, but that's no longer the case for all of them. Keep checking the Auction House, or shop around for a better deal. Given the number of people going for pet-related achievements these days, you will rarely find a good deal on the AH. If cost is an issue, contact a crafter directly.
- Chuck's Bucket Dropped rarely by the Bag of Fishing Treasures, but only on the fishing daily Crocolisks in the City (one of the Outland fishing dailies given by Old Man Barlo northeast of Shattrath).
- Clockwork Gnome A rare archaeology artifact from Dwarven archaeology. You'll probably get it as one of your earlier rare projects.
- Crawling Claw An epic archaeology artifact from Tol'vir archaeology. Because Tol'vir artifacts aren't available until you're reached 450 skill in archaeology at the earliest, it'll take some effort to get to this little ... uh, thing, but it's worth it. This is a really brilliantly animated little pet. Also, bank on a lot of work even once you reach it; it requires 150 Tol'vir fragments.
- De-Weaponized Mechanical Companion Crafted by a Gnomish engineer with at least 475 skill. Why yes, it is a clockwork bunny.
- Giant Sewer Rat This is a 1-in-1,000 drop fished up from the Dalaran sewers, although you can also get it from the Call to Arms satchel these days too.
- Magic Lamp (Alliance)/Enchanted Lantern (Horde) Crafted by an enchanter with at least 525 skill. Interestingly, these are actually separate pets, so check the AH for the opposite-faction version.
- Fossilized Hatchling A rare archaeology artifact from fossil archaeology, although (like the Clockwork Gnome above) you'll probably land it as a project fairly early. Most of the time, I see players get this somewhere in the 100 to150 skill range.
- Lifelike Mechanical Toad Crafted by an engineer with at least 265 skill.
- Lil' Smoky Crafted by an engineer with at least 205 skill. This used to be restricted to Gnomish engineers.
- Magical Crawdad This is one of the most interesting pets in the game but also one saddled with a truly stupendous amount of RNG. Getting a Crawdad involves fishing Mr. Pinchy, a magical, wish-granting lobster (just roll with it) out of the Highland Fishing Pools in Terokkar Forest (the small bodies of water only reachable via flying mount). This one pet probably merits an OverAchiever all to itself, but suffice it to say that Mr. Pinchy has the ability to grant wishes, and one of the five he can grant will give you this pet.
- Mechanical Squirrel Yet another engineering recipe, but this is the earliest one they can do. Crafted by an engineer with at least 75 skill.
- Muckbreath Dropped rarely by the Bag of Fishing Treasures, but only on the fishing daily Crocolisks in the City (one of the Outland fishing dailies given by Old Man Barlo northeast of Shattrath).
- Personal World Destroyer Crafted by a Goblin engineer with at least 475 skill. Why yes, it is a tiny Fel Reaver.
- Pet Bombling Crafted by an engineer with at least 205 skill. This was the Goblin engineer counterpart to Lil' Smoky above.
- Pterrordax Hatchling A rare archaeology artifact from fossil archaeology.
- Snarly Dropped rarely by the Bag of Fishing Treasures, but only on the fishing daily Crocolisks in the City (one of the Outland fishing dailies given by Old Man Barlo northeast of Shattrath).
- Strand Crawler Like the crocolisk pets, this little guy (a Ghostcrawler doppelganger!) can be found in a fishing reward bag, but unlike the crocolisk, it can drop from any of them. Found in either the Bag of Shiny Things or the Bag of Fishing Treasures.
- Toothy Dropped rarely by the Bag of Fishing Treasures, but only on the fishing daily Crocolisks in the City (one of the Outland fishing dailies given by Old Man Barlo northeast of Shattrath).
- Tranquil Mechanical Yeti Crafted by an engineer with at least 250 skill.
- Voodoo Figurine A rare archaeology artifact from Troll archaeology.

A slight correction, Allison;
The whelps that dropped the Tiny Emerald Whelpling in Swamp of Sorrows, no longer exist. Now the only way to get it is by killing the Noxious Whelps in northern Feralas.
But still; Thanks for this! I'm still dragging myself along for these pets. I think I have about 110 or so! It's nice to have a list of a bunch of pets all in one location. :D
Allison Robert Oct 20th 2011 3:36PM
Ack. I actually farmed for the damn thing so long that I'd memorized the NPCs that dropped it and the ones that didn't. Serious fail on my part. I should've checked Wowhead to verify that they did, in fact exist in Cata. Thanks for the correction!
The emerald whelp and the hyacinth macaw were two of the only pets that I think I just gave up on farming completely. The emerald was pretty unpleasant in that another person was farming that portion of Swamp of Sorrows at the time, and two people farming for the pet at once was an absolute slum. The hyacinth I gave up on after ... mmm, two or three weeks on and off. The emerald I wound up buying on the AH, the hyacinth I'm hoping will eventually show up in a Satchel. I ain't paying retail for that thing.

Allison, I feel your pain about the Emerald Whelpling... I just got it a week ago after farming it periodically over several years; after looting it, I spent about a minute staring at my bag in disbelief. ;P (Ironically, it was pet #152 for me; I had just got the 150 achievement.)
Now to farm for the Hyacinth Macaw... Yeah, I'm a glutton for punishment. (But it's just so pretty!)
Sagretti Oct 20th 2011 3:12PM
Just a quick correction, the Darting Hatchling drops from Dart's Nest, not Dart herself.
Sagretti Oct 20th 2011 3:24PM
And I see the article is already edited and fixed. That's some fine, fast edit work, very nice.
Allison Robert Oct 20th 2011 3:32PM
It's so sad that it's about 100 times faster for me to throw a quick edit into the article than it is to wait for a comment here to go live actually confirming the edit. I don't know what we did to the comment system to deserve this treatment, but whatever it was, it must have been bad ...
But thanks for the correction. I actually have no idea how I missed that one, as I nabbed all the other hatchling pet's spawn nests, far as I know. I'll blame incipient BlizzCon hysteria.
Popkin Oct 20th 2011 3:23PM
I love my little Mr. Grubbs! Sure, he's a maggot, but he's a maggot that can do a backflip over a troll! What's not to love about that? Well, I suppose the forsaken wouldn't like it since he might think he has a new mobile home.
Cyno01 Oct 20th 2011 3:47PM
A few things you missed.
The reason for Mr. Grubbs popularity? His idle animation. If you stand still long enough he starts doing backflips over your head.
Also, the tiny shale spider is a little bit more involved than killing a rare spawn. The rare spawn is at the back of a tunnel in deepholm, the only way to get to this tunnel is to blow yourself back and upwards with a bomb item you get while on this daily http://www.wowhead.com/quest=27048 . So if you want him, your best bet is to hang onto that daily and check whenever you get a chance. Also be aware, the mob it drops off is tamable, so you have to compete with other pet collectors AND hunters looking for a unique pet for it.
And lastly just as an aside, if youre lucky enough to have a Crawling Claw, and youre lucky enough to find someone else with one, if you both have them out and they get near eachother, they start playing RPS.
ziggler Oct 20th 2011 7:10PM
There is another way to get to the spider, not sure how "legal" it is. As you enter the cave flying, quickly take of your ethernet cable of your pc and keep flying to mob spawn place, as you land quickly repplug it and attack something. For some reason the server thinks its just lag...
Now that i finished writing it, theres no way it can be legal.
Hal Oct 20th 2011 3:48PM
For what it's worth, I've gotten an Azure Whelpling in my Exotic Satchel, so I'm assuming that any of the dropped/farmable pets have the potential to be found there.
I've also gotten a Tiny Sporebat, too, so you might even be able to avoid reputation grinds as well. I'm not entirely certain what the drop list actually looks like.

Hal Oct 20th 2011 4:12PM
Thanks Cyno, but since Wowhead relies on people reporting drops, it's only somewhat accurate. As I said, I've gotten an Azure Whelpling in there, but it's not listed at Wowhead.
paulmewis Oct 20th 2011 4:04PM
Other then hauling my big lazy butt all the way to Shattrath, is there any way (other then asking trade/guildies) of finding out if the Crocolisks in the City daily is up?
priestessaur Oct 20th 2011 4:54PM
Park an alt there.
dk Oct 20th 2011 4:15PM
The Creepy Crate is a big deal right now; as is the Feline Familiar -- time's a-wasting!
furrama Oct 20th 2011 5:52PM
You don't have to kill any extra mobs to get the captured firefly. I've farmed that thing up 4 times now, trust me. Just start at one end and kill them on foot (they conveniently spawn in a strait line for the most part), then fly back to the other end. They will start spawning again about when you get back, depending on how fast you killed them.
I farmed forever to get that macaw, and it never dropped. Then I was on Horde and killed a random mob in SV while questing and it dropped. I pointed at the screen and shrieked. It might as well have been a ghost. I was... speechless. I hurried to get it transferred over to my husband's Alliance toon, (the pet collector). I was so happy. I never had to farm that thing again.
Fletcher Oct 20th 2011 6:29PM
The super-adorable sprite darter hatchling is, sadly, no longer available to the Alliance *at all*; the mobs the Horde farms to get it are friendly to the Alliance. Which is pretty sucky for an originally Alliance-only pet. Why Blizzard removed those quests from the game I've no idea.
HappyTreeDance Oct 20th 2011 7:01PM
That's not true. Sprite darter is azone wide drop in feralas. I got mine from one of the noxious whelps. You can farm that and the emerald whelp at the same time.
Siaperas Oct 20th 2011 6:51PM
Another quick correction for you, the Hyacinth Macaw dropped off Bloodsail mobs in Strangelthorne, not Defias. If you were farming it, you had to wait either before or after your attempts to do Bloodsail Admiral. Again, that's all kind of moot, since you can get it off pretty much anything in Strangelthorne now assuming luck is on your side.
Ullaana Oct 20th 2011 7:52PM
Also, I got my Elementium Geode while mining in Uldum.
