World of Wardrobe: Hiking around Hyjal for tier 6, page 2
Kaz'rogal
Kaz'rogal has a couple of irritating abilities. He will War Stomp and stun those in melee range, and he also likes to place the Mark of Kaz'rogal on players. The Mark will drain 600 mana periodically, and if you happen to run out of mana, you'll detonate. Kaz'rogal should be dead long before this happens, however.
Tier drops Once again, no tier loot on this boss. Don't worry -- the last two have some tier tokens for the taking!
Other items of interest Cloth-wearing classes should check out the Leggings of Channeled Elements, a snazzy pair of black pants with blue and gold accents, as well as the accurately named Blue Suede Shoes. Priests, look for Angelista's Sash for a match to your tier 6 set. For rogues, the Black Featherlight Boots go very well with tier 6, and druids should look for the Belt of the Crescent Moon as a match to their tier 6 set. In addition, all leather-wearing classes may like the look of the Razorfury Mantle, a recolor of the rogue tier 6 shoulders.
Hunters, the Valestalker Girdle is a good match for your tier 6, and all mail classes should take a look at the Sun-Touched Chain Leggings, pretty pants in gold and brown. In addition, the Beast-Tamer's Shoulders are a recolor of the hunter tier 6 shoulders, complete with wiggling eyeball. Warriors, the Belt of Seething Fury is a belt match for your tier 6 set as well.
On top of all that, Kaz'rogal drops Kazrogal's Hardened Heart, a red and gold shield, and the Hammer of Atonement, a sparkling purple crystalline main-hand mace.
Talk to Thrall a second time. After clearing another eight waves of adds, Azgalor will appear.
Azgalor
Azgalor is a pit lord with one particularly nasty ability called Doom. He will cast it roughly every 50 seconds or so, and the person who is marked with Doom has 20 seconds left to live. When Doom goes off, the player will die, and a Lesser Doomguard will spawn from his corpse. The Doomguards themselves do little damage on a level 85, but having a player die mid-fight can spell disaster if you're only running with a few people. Luckily, Azgalor goes down fairly quickly, and if you bring enough people along, he won't even have time to get a Doom off before you're looting him.
Tier drops Azgalor drops tier 6 glove tokens for all classes.
Other items of interest Leather-wearing classes should take a look at Don Rodrigo's Poncho; as the name suggests, it's a purple and gold poncho that lacks side pieces -- it just hangs around your neck! Also available for leather classes are the Shady Dealer's Pantaloons, a pair of gray leather pants with soft blue accents. Mail-wearing classes should check out the Bow-Stitched Leggings, black pants with red and gold accents.
As for plate, the Girdle of Hope is a good match for paladin tier 6, and all plate-wearing classes should definitely check out the Glory of the Defender, a plate chestpiece with the figure of a demon's face etched in the front. Classes that can wield daggers may like Boundless Agony, a green version of the Tracker's Blade mentioned earlier.
Archimonde
Archimonde is the last boss in Hyjal, and he still has a few tricks up his sleeve. Luckily, players are provided with a way to negate one of those tricks entirely. After defeating and looting Azgalor, players should talk to Thrall one more time, and then continue on the path to the north to the third base camp. There, they will find Tyrande Whisperwind waiting for them. Speak to Tyrande to pick up the Tears of the Goddess, an item with a Slow Fall effect. You will have to click the Tears when Archimonde throws you in the air with Air Burst to avoid falling on the descent, unless you're a class with a Slow Fall ability.
Archimonde waits in a clearing at the bottom of Nordrassil. Don't stand in the fire, and you're good to go. Once Archimonde hits 10% health, players will receive a buff that makes them immune to Archimonde's attacks. Keep attacking him, and he'll be dead in no time flat.
Tier drops Archimonde drops tier 6 helm tokens for all classes.
Other items of interest Archimonde's actually got quite a few cool items. Cloth-wearing classes might like the beautifully ornate look of the Robes of Rhonin, or the Leggings of Eternity, a charming pair of cloth pants in brown and gold. Leather-wearing classes should check out the Midnight Chestguard in red, green and silver, and mail classes might like the Mail of Fevered Pursuit, a chestpiece in teal and purple. Plate-wearing classes should check out the Legguards of Endless Rage in red and gold. Plate-wearing classes should also take a look at Savior's Grasp, a green and gold version of the Glory of the Defender mentioned above.
But it's the weapons that really shine here. First up is the Bristleblitz Striker, an ornate bow emblazoned with a demonic face, gold details, and a green glow effect. Next is Tempest of Chaos, a one-handed sword with some of the same skull detailing and colors that you see with the warlock tier 5 set -- it's as if the weapon was made to go with it. Antonidas' Aegis of Rapt Concentration is a beautiful gold shield, again with the image of a demon's face and a green glow. The Apostle of Argus is a gorgeous staff with floating runes and a blue glow effect. Lastly, Cataclysm's Edge is an absolutely massive two-handed sword in black, gold and red.
Trash packs
Wait, you didn't think we were done, did you? You know all those obnoxious piles of trash you had to clear? Well, you'll want to loot that trash, because it all stands a chance of dropping some pretty cool items as well. Two cloaks drop here -- Pepe's Shroud of Pacification in purple, blue and gold; and you can also find the Nethervoid Cloak in red, black and gold on the trash, while you're at it.
For armor drops, the Boots of the Divine Light are another match for priest tier 6, and the Chestguard of Relentless Storms is a gorgeous mail chestpiece in gold with teal accents. For weapons, the Hammer of Judgement is a main-hand crystalline mace in pink. Last but certainly not least, the Fist of Molten Fury and the Claw of Molten Fury are two of the most impressive fist weapon models in game, featuring sharpened claws, chains, and molten fire effects on both weapons that go perfectly with shaman tier 5.
That's it for Mount Hyjal. Next week, we'll begin to delve into Black Temple, where we'll say hello to Akama, check out some scenic views of Azeroth, and dig up some more tier 6.

Regarding Rage Winterchill- the Lich/First Boss. He DOES have a mechanic that you should worry about. He casts a Death and Decay that deals % based damage, so it will kill you if you don't get out of it. Also, the area it covers is much larger than the standard DnD he lays down. There are some red clouds past the perimiter for about another 20-30 yards, and you'll want to get out of those too.

Absolutely, this is the only boss that gave me any problems DK soloing Hyjal. Combine that with his "random stuns" (which will only hit you) and frost nova freezing you in place while the DnD ticks, it's a heck of a surprise. "Ok, ready to faceroll some old content, move out of the DnD...hey, why am I at 25% health?"
The best trick I found (besides juggling self-heals) is to NOT use tank gear, avoid stam like the plague. By doing it in tank spec & dps gear, you have lower HP, so the DnD ticks for less, and most self heals negate a larger percentage of the DnD. 30k bandages are much better with 50k/100k rather than 90k/180k.

His design screws death strike heals too - after moving out of DnD, we can't whack him to make it up because he's still standing in the middle of the 20sec DnD! By the time his cast is over, the 5sec window on death strike has passed, and we're left with the paltry 7% minimum heal.

Druids are commanded by the lady Allison to go retrieve for their clothing this set, as Thunderheart is most highly recommended.
Eros Oct 20th 2011 9:22PM
Meh, thunderheart is overrated. To each there own i guess.

Ok, that Azlagor video is the best thing I've ever seen. I wish other boss kill videos had such character.
Brought a smile to me face it did.

A suggestion I would have for this tier is to note that the Sunwell pieces of T6 (belt boots bracers) do not match the sets from Hyjal and BT in most cases. For example, the Paladin set looks really weird with the full set since the boots/belt/bracers match the sunwell non-set epics. At least for Paladins, the only option for a belt that drops is from Hyjal (can't remember what boss but I think it's one of the two from the Horde camp) or a JP vendor bought belt. For Boots and Bracers you have to go to BT to get a set that match the T6. Warlord Nazjentus drops two pair of boots (one Tank one Heals) that match and I think Mother Sharazz drops Bracers but don't quote me on that.
If you are looking to match the base 5 piece set then you will have to do some digging to find out what pieces match the set and what pieces don't. I ended up farming quite a while to get my Paladin his boots and bracers and lucked out when my friend told me a vendor sold a belt with the T6 graphic (note, none of the plate belts in BT match the Paladin set, it does match the Season 3 PvP set though).
Something else that might be interesting to note is that Season 2 and Season 3 gear can all be bought with T5/T6 tokens on IQD. If you don't quite like the coloration of your tier set you can grab the PvP colored version with the tokens instead. My friend did that with his Shaman and T5.
Boobah Oct 20th 2011 5:52PM
Season 3? Nope. It's currently unavailable. You can get season 1 (in exchange for tier 4 tokens) and season 2 (in exchange for tier 5 and 6 tokens) at IQD, and season 4 from the level 70 PvP vendors, but right now nobody sells the season 3 stuff.
Rob Oct 20th 2011 5:49PM
T6 actually was 5 piece when it first came out. Sunwell was a gimme to appease raiders since Blizz knew it would take a long time for Wraith to come out. After Sunwell they modified T6 to be 8 piece.
VSUReaper Oct 20th 2011 6:14PM
I wish that TBC and Vanilla tier sets had look alikes like there are now. I love the T4 and T6 paladin sets, but my warrior can't wear them.
Fast forward to now, my warrior could mog some lookalike gear from ICC or firelands and look like a member of the Argent Crusade or something.
madfigs Oct 20th 2011 8:54PM
The Paladin hat is so cute! I started running this as soon as Transmog was announced and got it on the second week :)
Shyster Oct 20th 2011 11:19PM
For all you Paladin Tier 6 seekers the 'matching' belt and boots are as follows.
Boots: Either http://www.wowhead.com/item=32245 or http://www.wowhead.com/item=32243, both of which drop from Naj'entus in black temple, which is easily two manned with a ret pally and a healer, or any other combination I should think.
Belt: http://www.wowhead.com/item=34923 much easier, right from the justice point vendor in Quel'Danas
Shame they didn't put the matching pieces as part of the set instead of the sunwell/brutal glad type gear.

No mention of the Fists of Fury?
Shaman looking to match their T5 "Cataclysm" set of the enhance variety should look to pick these up.
Designed to look awesome on Enhance Shaman but itemized so horribly no Enhance Shaman would actually use the set, these look beautiful and it is a total shame Blizzard won't allow melee weapons to act like ranged ones in regards to having the model of what you like instead of what kind it is.
These babies with the T5 set will make Shaman look gorgeous and I occasionally walked around in the set during Wrath. People did notice.
