Blizzard announces World of Warcraft Annual Pass

In addition to getting full access Diablo 3 to download and play for free the same day it's released, Blizzard is throwing in a few goodies for anyone who signs up for the annual pass. For one, you'll get the in-game World of Warcraft mount Tyrael's Charger. You will also gain access to the beta of the next World of Warcraft expansion as soon as it goes live. For more information, check out the official Annual Pass promotion page. The official FAQ is live as well, as is Blizzard's official walk-through of the sign-up process.
Stay tuned throughout the day for more information coming from the BlizzCon floor!

It convinced me!

Smart move, I sure hope it's not to hide a lack of content and ideas in the upcoming expac.
Drack Oct 21st 2011 2:45PM
Probably not quite the reason. If the reason behind this is a lack of planned content, It's more likely for the time between 4.3 and 5.0, which I'd hazard a guess to be about one year long.
What's more likely, though, is this is just them trying to eliminate profit loss whenever people take a break from WoW.

I'd say Drack is on the right track. It's like, "go ahead and take a break from WoW and play Diablo III instead".
Not a bad deal for a subscription you were paying for anyway.

SO cool! I'm pumped.

I love this idea, but is there any way to get the goodies that come with the Diablo III Deluxe edition too? I'd hate to have to choose between feature sets....

"If you decide to purchase the Diablo III Collector's Edition when it's available, and then choose to add your Collector's Edition license key to the Battle.net account associated with your existing World of Warcraft Annual Pass promotion, you will receive all of the benefits associated with the Collector's Edition, plus receive four months of World of Warcraft game time which is eligible towards your 12-month subscription commitment. After you purchase the Diablo III Collector's Edition you just need to input the product key into the Battle.net account associated with your World of Warcraft 12-month commitment and that account will then receive the next 4 months of World of Warcraft game time for free. For example, if you already had a month of game time on the associated World of Warcraft account when you input your Diablo III Collector's Edition product key, it would then be 5 months until your next subscription payment was due."

Now that's some good news, Minstrel. I'd already signed the 12 month subscription, and then thought, "but what about the diablo 3 collector's edition?"
i'd kind of decided i was going to buy it anyway, this is icing on the cake :)

How do we buy this, just set our subscription to be Annual?instead of Monthly???
V Magius Oct 21st 2011 2:48PM
Yeah, just sign up for the Annual plan and choose Monthly installments. Effectively, this changes nothing.
Also, any time you have already paid for gets applied to your Annual plan.
I have an active subscription already; what happens to the time I already paid for?
Any qualifying subscription time remaining on the account at the time of accepting the Annual Pass offer may be applied toward the 12-month subscription commitment.
For example: If you had started a 6-month subscription 2 months prior to accepting the Annual Pass offer, 4 months of your remaining subscription time would be applied toward your 12-month subscription commitment.

Sorry to burst you bubble my friend but...
Batleth Oct 21st 2011 2:36PM
I guess the montly billed amount is still up in the air for the WoW yearly pass? Still though...good move on their part.
jordan Oct 21st 2011 3:56PM
Nah, the wow year pass is just a commitment to stay subbed for the next year. It really has nothing to do with payments
alzeer Oct 21st 2011 2:38PM
how will it work exactly? i mean blizzard doesn't release games annually
Skarn Oct 21st 2011 4:19PM
That depends what you are referring to. It's actually very simple.
1. You commit to Blizzard that you will pay them for a WoW subscription for 1 year.
2. You can pay this via any current subscription plan. Monthly, game time cards, etc.
3. You get free stuff for NOTHING extra. The ONLY requirement is that you stay subscribed to WoW for the next year, with no interruptions.
4. You get the free mount with the launch of Patch 4.3. You get Diablo 3 free when it goes live.
5. If you fail to make the payments (say you cancel your credit card) then Blizzard will take the free stuff away from you. It is also likely that they will flag you as ineligible for any similar future offers.
