Blizzard announces World of Warcraft Annual Pass

In addition to getting full access Diablo 3 to download and play for free the same day it's released, Blizzard is throwing in a few goodies for anyone who signs up for the annual pass. For one, you'll get the in-game World of Warcraft mount Tyrael's Charger. You will also gain access to the beta of the next World of Warcraft expansion as soon as it goes live. For more information, check out the official Annual Pass promotion page. The official FAQ is live as well, as is Blizzard's official walk-through of the sign-up process.
Stay tuned throughout the day for more information coming from the BlizzCon floor!

Do you have a credit card recurring subscription, or are you using time cards or PayPal? Neither of those are eligible.
Mike R. Oct 21st 2011 4:39PM
I'm on a 6-month recurring credit card payment.

The longer a period you subscribe for, you end up saving money per month. I already did this to save up on money over a longer period, and with a bonus of getting Diablo 3 *as well as* beta access to the new WoW expansion, *and* a mount just cements this as something I really can't see a reason to not do if you don't absolutely love WoW.
I for one will be getting the Annual Pass, when possible.

Yey for us non-US residents getting screwed again:
To qualify for this promotion you must be an adult in the United States of America, Canada, Europe, Australia, New Zealand, or Singapore
shadownick Oct 21st 2011 3:01PM
Latin american subscribers can't get the annual pass. You have to live in the US, Canada, Europe, Australia, New Zeland or singapore. :( I really wanted that mount and the beta testing oportunity. Latin America got screwed.

I have not seen the actual price for the 12-month subscription anywhere, can someone confirm the amount for me?
Skarn Oct 21st 2011 4:30PM
There are no pricing changes. Whatever you are paying for WoW right now is what you will be paying for WoW for the next year. Essentially $15 a month or $180 a year. Though if you sign-up for a 6-month pricing plan, that will save you a few dollars.
tadedra Oct 21st 2011 3:06PM
Does anyone see prices? How much am I paying per month?
Presently:
1 month: $14.99
3 months: $41.97 ($13.99 per month)
6 months: $77.94 ($12.99 per month)
So what would you be paying for 12 months? Also is this a tradeoff between this Diablo as part of your subscription and getting the mount vs not signing up and getting the Collectors Edition if you wanted the pet.
Finally is there anyway to make this a flat out payment. I hate balancing tiny monthly payments. I know I'm potentially looking at $179.88 vs $155.88. That would be $24.00 for the game, and mount but not the pet or other Collector's edition stuff.
Maybe they might be willing to give us a printable coupon to make up the difference between this an the collectors edition.
Skarn Oct 21st 2011 4:41PM
There are no pricing changes. You are agreeing to pay for 1 year of WoW subscription, but you are welcome to pay that via any current pricing plan.
1 month recurring is still $14.99
3 month recurring is still $41.97
6 month recurring is still $77.94
12 month option does not exist.
Once you sign-up, you can even change your subscription style or add game time cards. You simply can not cancel, that button is greyed out. If you want to pay it as up front as possible, go for the 6 month subscription. That will save you $24 over the next year that you are committing to pay for anyway. There is no extra cost nor price changes.
If you get the D3 Collector's Edition and apply that to your Annual Pass account, Blizzard will credit you with 4 months of WoW time. That's a $60 value, which is the likely price of the standard D3 game anyway. You will still have to pay extra for the D3 CE, but no more than if this Annual Pass idea didn't exist. Essentially, if the D3 CE costs $120 then the Annual Pass "refunds" you $60, making the CE only cost $60. Very nice!

That is too much for any game. Break the math down. If its 14.99 x 12 months its about 179.88. Or if you do two of the prepaid 6 months at 77.94 x 2 = 155.88. D3 is not worth that much and add a pony to it still doesn't add up. I tried looking up the annual cost on the FAQ and did not see it.
Also depends on when D3 is released. If its released Q1 of 2012 then why do this and just wait. If its Q4 of 2012 i can see doing this but you know if its free to play many from wow would leave to play d3 and not come back for a while and take their friends with them. Why pay to have wow and not play while on d3. When D3 is from what i heard f2p. Wake up people!
rip Oct 21st 2011 3:13PM
except that you also get 12 months of wow with it.... soo.... ummm...
tadedra Oct 21st 2011 3:31PM
Above this I just said as much but if you are playing wow anyway you are looking at an additional $24 IF you pay every 6 months vs monthly. Not sure at all what your point is. This is money subscribers are all ready paying. Top that off with the a mount being included ($25.00 for the last mount they sold) your math really isn't showing me how it breaks the game of wow or that Diablo 3 is worth less then $24.

@spam
I find it funny that you seem to think that if anyone plays D3 they can´t possibly play any other game at the same time.
Obviously this is not a deal for someone who isn´t going to be playing WoW for the next year, but for someone like me who is going to play D3 and Wow anyway this is a excelent offer.
My Wow time will be reduced a bit when D3 comes out but i will still be playing WoW and other games for that matter.
If you intend to leave Wow completely or temporarily then you should not get the annual pass wich seems obvious, just because this isn´t suitable for you and ppl like you doesn´t mean this isn´t a very good deal for many others.
Skyburnone Oct 21st 2011 3:06PM
I wish I could have it in Brazil =/
Jaq Oct 21st 2011 3:09PM
