Our friends over at Wowhead News (who helped us throw a heck of a party) also have been posting all sorts of
Mists of Pandaria information. One of the tidbits they have for us are what, exactly, our new Pandaren brothers and sisters will have for racial abilities. It's interesting to see that these racials are pretty strong for leveling.
-
Bouncy: reduces fall damage by half.
-
Inner peace: double rested XP.
-
Gourmond: +15 to cooking.
-
Epicurean: double stats to food buffs.
-
Quaking Palm (from the live stream): Puts a target to sleep for three seconds.
Some of these (the Epicurean racial in particular) seems pretty strong, maybe even
too strong. They're interesting in terms of how they touch on the Pandaren's lore and personality. Keep reading our coverage, including
liveblogs of each panel.

Quaking Palm, target to sleep for three seconds.
The hunters had an ability to do this to targets, Blizz eventually took it away
The DeathKnight had a talent point that could do this to targets, Blizz eventually took it away.
So now they're offering it again? I give it a few months of PVP, either Blizz will re-instate all races to have this, or guarenteed, it will eventually be taken away

There's almost no difference between sleep and other stun/incapacitate effects. It's like tauren warstomp but limited to 1 target and with 1 second added duration. Also, based on the name and description, I'd say you'll have to be in melee range to use it.
I don't see it being removed.
Artificial Oct 21st 2011 4:39PM
Wait, what? When did Blizzard remove Wyvern Sting from the game?
Metaphyzxx Oct 21st 2011 4:22PM
I was just intending to send in a twitter question related to what the Challenge Mode dungeons are going to do!

WOOT! Had to go to a freaking bar tender meeting that started at 3PM EST. Found out many of my buddies are leaving Iraq and now this. I am one of the ones who really wanted this!

I have to say this.
This doesn't look like WoW.
This feels an AWFUL lot like Kung Fu Panda's world. Like seriously. They could've worked with Dreamworks and release this as the MMO for Kung Fu Panda (which would be brilliant!)
I have stopped playing WoW for over 3 months now.
Freaking pandas are making me want to play it again, not because it's new, but because it DOESN'T look like current WoW and I want to play with something that looks like my culture + Kung Fu Panda!

They are quite clearly going for the kids. Bring in a fresh crop of 12 year olds who will be playing for the next ten years.

Just tell me that they can be druids so I can roll up a DOUBLE BEAR!!!!!
Artificial Oct 21st 2011 4:43PM
Alas, no. Monk, hunter, mage, priest, rogue, shaman, or warrior.
Metaphyzxx Oct 21st 2011 4:26PM
You got pokemonz in my wow
Bynde Oct 21st 2011 4:27PM
Why do I get the feeling this is like when Lucas added the Teddy Bears in Return Of the Jedi just for the purpose of "cuteness" and increase the expected merchandising of action figures.
I'll say it again. Pandas? Seriously, pandas????
Garrgamel Oct 21st 2011 6:22PM
THIS IS A HOAX. THIS JUST SEEMS TOO WEIRD. PANDAS..........I KNOW BLIZZARD COULD DO BETTER
Joerendous Oct 21st 2011 4:32PM

Epic Fail
I have no interest in playing a Panda. Zero. I was hoping for 2 hero classes, maybe a Battlemage (Staff + Sword dual wield) and a healer (Clerk or something) plus a new new area. Maybe a Dragonkin class (human form + dragon). It makes me sad
I think I am done for now, good thing Massively has other MMOs that I can look at...Strike 2 for Blizzard
Artificial Oct 21st 2011 4:45PM
I had no interest in playing a werewolf. Still don't. Didn't prevent my enjoyment of the rest of the stuff in Cata, I just didn't make a worgen (except to play through the starting zone once just to see it all).
raingod Oct 21st 2011 4:57PM
Good, take your whiny ass elsewhere. I'm tired of pricks like you that bad mouth everything before even trying it.

Yeah, if everyone complaining loudly about pandas actually quit like theyre saying this is going to make them... i think the game would be a much better place.
ThorinII Oct 21st 2011 4:47PM
Kung-fu panda meets WoW... pretty cool, though.
Hohen Oct 21st 2011 4:55PM
Gourmand: +15 to cooking.
Epicurean: double stats to food buffs.
It's like they made it with ME in mind!!
"Now that we've exchanged pleasantries and hot panda milk, Dr. Venture, let's talk business..."
"Ahhrrrrhhh!! MANDALAY!!! HELP ME!! I've come aflame again!!!"

Shouldn't all new Pandaren toons also get the Brewmaster title automatically on their first log in? XD
