BlizzCon 2011: Pet battles introduced in Pandaria

- The companion pets can attack wild pets and capture them to add to your collection.
- The battles will be turn-based.
- You will be able to customize your pets with names, items and builds.
- There will be Masters that you can fight and gain a Master Ability for your pet.
- As you collect pets, you can form them into teams to take into battle.
- Pets will be account-wide, including levels and customizations.
- Pets will be tradeable. You will be able to put them on the AH or give as gifts. So you can build up to high-level pets and sell them for high prices.
- All players will be able to access pet battles.
- You will be able to use almost all pets.

Pokemon anyone?
Cyno01 Oct 21st 2011 6:26PM
Yo dawg, we heard you like pokemon, so we put pokemon in your wow so you can battle while you battle.
As a pet collector, this is pretty awesome. And i just realized i have more pets than there were original pokemon, awesome.

Somewhere, right now, all the people in guilds called are whooping it up and high-fiving one another...virtually.
Andrew Oct 21st 2011 6:35PM
That was supposed to read "called 'Team Rocket'" but curses, I was foiled by formatting.

Just the other day, my friend and I were talking about what profession Blizzard was going to add during MoP. He eventually said, "I bet, instead of adding a profession, they'll do some sort of minigame, like a Pokemon system."
Apparently my friend is a witch.

Not to be deliberately negative but does it seem to anyone else that everything announced so far is a little gimmicky?
cloudhopper013 Oct 21st 2011 7:39PM
Of course it is. It's INCREDIBLY gimmicky.
That's why we love it.
Minstrel Oct 21st 2011 9:07PM
As long as they're fun gimmicks, it's all good. All of these developments have the potential to be fun.
Sealskjaer Oct 22nd 2011 12:52AM
Don't get me wrong, I love a good fun gimmick. The problem comes when there isn't the rich content to go alongside the superficial stuff. For the last 3 expansions we have had a nemesis looming over us; BC vs illidan/Kael, Wrath vs Arthas, Cata vs Deathwing.
I guess my point is that so far all we have seen are the gimmicks whereas the first announcement for the past expansions has been content first, gimmicks later. I am a sucker for good epic storytlines and so far I just don't see it for Mists of Pandaria.
I'm a little underwhelmed is all.

If the pet bombing does not have an attack named "Explode" I will.
