- The companion pets can attack wild pets and capture them to add to your collection.
- The battles will be turn-based.
- You will be able to customize your pets with names, items and builds.
- There will be Masters that you can fight and gain a Master Ability for your pet.
- As you collect pets, you can form them into teams to take into battle.
- Pets will be account-wide, including levels and customizations.
- Pets will be tradeable. You will be able to put them on the AH or give as gifts. So you can build up to high-level pets and sell them for high prices.
- All players will be able to access pet battles.
- You will be able to use almost all pets.

If they keep this in the game, I'll be glad I'm switching to SWTOR when it comes out. I don't think any MMO is going to be a WoW killer, looks like WoW is killing itself. Between this, and the new talent trees ... getting very lame.

Actually this new side game of COMPANION collecting and Pet PvP will kill the stale SW companion system on release.
Even now the press is unimpressed with the SW companion system: EVERYONE has the same Pet over there.
Wile Blizard introduces a POkemon on steroids with a few thousand Pets to collect and fight with.
Go figure.

Up to this point I was just kind of "meh" with the announcements for this expansion, level 90, Pandarians, any hunter pet could be any of the three families, etc... But now that Blizzard is turning WoW into Pokemon(TM) I have to call Shenanigans.
Since the Pandarians were an April Fool's Joke to begin with this is either the longest setup to a really bad joke or Blizz has forgotten what got them 12 million users, and that would be actual content and not this cutesy dumbed down crap. I am really hoping this is a joke.

That's exactly what I thought when I started reading all the announcements: This is one huge and elaborate practical joke.
For every other expansion I have been excited as hell before release, but for this one I find myself hoping it isn't so.

I hope Blizzard already has plans for Facebook integration and/or mobile apps, this feature alone would bring millions of dollars into the game.

Not bad enough Cata is just VanillaWOW 2.0. Not bad enough Firelands raids are Molten Core 2.0.
The next xpac has one new race, Pandas? Reeeely?
And they are re doing Scarlet Monestary a' la' ZG/ZA?
And now Pokemon?
Thank heaven KOTR is going live soon. After 7 years of WOW I had fervently hoped to see Naga and Consortium added as new Horde and Alliance races, respectively. I had also hoped for some original, fresh material instead of rehashed seven year old content.

As far as SM/Scholo, I like that they're doing it - with a game as old as this one, nostalgia is big factor. Screw you with your "reshashed content" BS.
I'll be glad you're gone and leaving for SWTOR (You don't even know the game's name. Have fun with it.) With you gone, we won't have to listen to your crap anymore.

I imagine older people, women and dudes not really into the quick responsive combat coordination thing will like this very much as it is turn based./

I read some comments from the press on the SW TOR stale companion system.
Have fun with walking around with the EXACT same Pets over there.
WOW blasts the Pet system of SW into oblivion already.

It is so typical that Blizzard innovates MORE in their 7 year old game then the Clones can come up with lately (Rift, SW, ...)
Introducing a seperate turn based combat system into WOW (and collecting them), now that's what I call REAL innovation in an mmorpg.
Enjoy your bad Clone Wars copycat with Light sabres and 2 BG's.

I'm sorry. If I wanted to play pokemon I'd play it. This side game crap isn't wow. Plain crap. So let's keep all the whinners happy, and give them kung fu panda and pokemon, then let's see how many stupid fools sign the 12 month agreement. You get beta wow that's just not worth it. I'm glad to go to SWTOR.

Your choice, but you will be playing WOW 1.2 with Light sabres, we will play WOW 5.0 with 12 Bg's, world bosses, PvP heavy continent, 100+ dungeons, new scenarios, a new in game Pokemon on steroids, a new Monk class and about 10 times more things to do than the Clone Wars thing.
Also having a Diablo 3 game for FREE in which you even MAKE money by selling on the AH....
It looks EA already lost the battle of subscriptions 2 months before their launch.
Just like BF3 is a weak attamept at grabbing the money, so will SW look very pale in view of the content.
Typical EA. Perhaps they can even extend their NDA after their Cloe Wars launch... :))
