You know what sucks, is that getting talents every level was how I used to gauged my toon getting stronger. In Cata I got them every other level - I can still see myself getting stronger as I watch the tree fill up. Not thrilled, but I can see it.Now.... its gonna be hard to do. Its gonna be 15 levels of "am I really more powerful?" because all that will change is the number on my unit fram and that instead of 100 str, I will have 105 str.I know its hard to make judgements based on what is being **read** but I dont like the direction its taking here.

I'm with you, actually. I'm really excited for what this whole thing means at max level, but while I'm leveling up... no new ranks of abilities, talent points every 15 levels, and abilities only learned every other level (and to be honest, that's probably going to change too, since you're not going to get a bunch of abilities useable by other specs anymore). Looks like all of the excitement is going to be packed into a few leveling milestones, with all the space in between being dead levels. Too bad, really. Part of what I love about Cata is that you get *something* at nearly every level.

"You know what sucks, is that getting talents every level was how I used to gauged my toon getting stronger."Really? Gaining levels every level is how I've always gauged my toon getting stronger. In basically every RPG ever.

John Oct 21st 2011 5:57PMIf they mix up the levels where you get a new spell / ability with levels at which you get a talent point, then the "dead levels" will be spread out.But yes, this is a little bit of a reduction in the carrot aspect of leveling (or stick, if that's how you roll).

Yeah, but WoW has spoiled us, so now I feel a little disappointed if I ding without unlocking some sort of cool, new ability. I'll get over it though.

@Suzaku. I wish there was a way to go back to level in vanilla or TBC where every level was hard fought for and it meant something. You would say "DING!" and it meant something. Now, I get a level every 20 min and even when it takes me a solid hour or more, it doesn't feel special: it's just another level and I don't feel *stronger*. Talents were how I could say "I'm more powerful: instead of just ms or stormstrike, I now have blade storm or maelstrom weapons!"It's not the same, and this might be a good move, but I miss how it was.

You still get abilities as you level. Lots of them. In fact, I am willing to bet a lot of spells granted by talents will be baseline now. These talents aren't minor things - they will majorly alter your abilities/stats, or give a huge and class defining new spell. So you'll continue to ding and see progress there, and your abilities bars will continue to fill up as you level. And then you get milestone rewards every 15 levels.
