Is this a joke ? No way they will release anything as silly as that.
Ed Oct 21st 2011 2:48PM
Unfortunately not, we're getting a Kung-Fu Panda expansion. :(

I know, I didn't believe it at first.
I'm still hoping they can pull it off, though.

Can confirm its real. Seems crazy - pandaren? monks? things Blizz have always said NO CHANCE to - but its verified.

haters gon' hate. This is gonna be sweet.

Why is anyone disappointed in this?
I can't understand why anyone is legitimately upset that we have the pandaren as a race in the game.
Cows and spacegoats are totally believable, but pandas? That's stepping over the line.

I've got a Level 90 Clap. WTB enchanted epic Penicillin.

*No one is forcing you to sub
*No one is forcing you to play the race/class
*No one is forcing you to post
*Move along.

Just disappointed that Pandaren are the *only* new race.

I'm excited about the Pandarens teaching Azeroth a thing or two ... about peace. And beer. And OPEN FIST FIGHTING STYLES.

Ed, you did that wrong:
We're getting a Kung-Fu Panda expansion!!!!one11!!!! =DDDD
Sniperess Oct 21st 2011 2:55PM
I just watched the reveal on live stream. Anyone who says it is too "silly" clearly didn't watch the live stream. The expansion looked pretty frikkin badass.

I don't think I can possibly be disappointed with one new playable race... I think a new class takes a lot more work than a new race so the fact that Blizzard is undertaking such a venture again makes me quite happy. Only problem now is that I can't have all 11 classes on one server (unless...?)

The difference between blood elves/draenei and pandaren is that blood elves and draenei are interesting, and they were interesting before they ever made it into WoW.
Five/six zones taking place in a WoW version of China? That sounds really boring to me.

I'm just disappointed that we're getting one race, shared between the factions. We'll see how it pans out, though.
I know it kind of sounds like looking a gift horse in the mouth, and we didn't even get a new race in wrath, but I like keeping the factions distinct.

@Tfish92 Because Pandaren were born out of a joke idea and put in WC3 as a joke, nothing serious. I really don't know how I feel about this.
george Oct 21st 2011 2:59PM
Tfish, people are disappointed because pandaren were a dumb joke race, they're destroying the story of their franchise. its dumb.
NostraThomas Oct 21st 2011 2:59PM
@Ed.
"The difference between blood elves/draenei and pandaren is that blood elves and draenei are interesting, and they were interesting before they ever made it into WoW."
Draenei, as they are in-game, didn't exist before the Blizzard team retconned game history to make them work for BC.
If Blizzard could make Draenai at least slightly interesting, I don't doubt they can make the pandaren just as compelling, if not more.

@" Pandaran were made as a joke"
A joke is most easily defined as a short story or event intended to entertain.
A game, oddly enough, has much the same definition.
I'm not really seeing "they were a joke" as being a valid reason to not be in the game.
Tfish92 Oct 21st 2011 3:04PM
So because they thought the idea was funny at one time that means they are now destroying the franchise?
I guess the nearly destroyed it before it was even a franchise then because Chris just said they almost used them as the race in burning crusade.
People who are legitimately upset by this have some sort of problem.
