The expansion that they need to get WoW back on track and they come up with Pandas! Really?
Aiming to appeal to pre-teens perhaps? I'm seriously unimpressed...

hate to agree but im with werther here.
Everyone thinks pandas are badass but it is a bit of a joke to have an expansion based on them.

After 7 years of waiting for a Monk class we finally get it!! AND we get Pandas!? Seriously??? Wow they blew my mind! I don't see how anyone wouldn't like this, except those who, you know, don't like FUN!

Why doesn't anyone seem to remember that the Tauren were created because of an old Diablo joke?

"The difference between blood elves/draenei and pandaren is that blood elves and draenei are interesting, and they were interesting before they ever made it into WoW."
Seriously?
Blood Elves have been a disaster and were not at all interesting before they hit live. The game already had elves.
Draenei... if they'd actually been like the Lost Ones, maybe. But they weren't. And they only became interesting after enough people noticed /waggle... :) I was there, on launch day of BC, on a draenei, in an empty zone. LAUNCH DAY, just me. Got to level 18 before I met another player of one. I hit SW and people actually screamed in general that the horde were attacking... they had no clue WTF I was... Got to the AH, and got spammed with requests to /dance so people could see if it was interesting.
Took a few months before draenei started showing up -everywhere- after folks ended up on the 'rear side' of enough draenei fems.
BEs was an opposite - launch day and the entire Alliance population was in the BE starting zone on females doing dance and jump animations. The only hype was about their looks. Nobody cared for the lore.
PEOPLE STILL HAVE NO FREAKING CLUE WHAT BE LORE IS.
Other than looks, or access to Arcane Torrent, or to roll a paladin before cata; there are 5 people in WoW's 12 million who play it for the lore. 1 of them knows it, the other 4 think they're playing high elves...
Panderan... I'm personally on the fence. But I cannot deny that people have been asking for them since Classic was in beta. EVERY topic in wow history relating to 'what should do next' mentions pandas at some point in the discussion... They outrank possibly everything but goblins and murlocs... Maybe those too. :)
If you made Hoggar a halfbreed panda / murloc dual class paladin / deathknight - you'd have people fainting from an overdose of fanservice...

Other "joke" races from WarCraft include gnomes, goblins, and tauren. Clearly, Blizzard would never try to flesh out the lore of any race they originally introduced in the game purely for humor, right?

The only disappointment I have is that no one's yet linked this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wwg033Ze3Lk . Come on, guys! D:
Also, Worgen Monk. DO WANT. (Especially considering how funny they look doing a Rogue kick.)

Yeah. I'm sure flying and electricity were jokes too at one time. How did those work out? Not saying Pandaren are even close to being on the same level but...

How frickin cool is the next Brewfest going to be? I mean, whew. *head asplodes*

I got up early this morning (i'm in australia) and went to my computer to fire up my blizzcon virtual ticket. i was so excited to see what was going to be new with wow, and i'd been holding out hope that the whole "mists of pandaria" thing was just to throw everyone off the trail. so disappointed to find that it was not.
don't get me wrong, i love wow, and i'm going to keep playing it (in fact i signed up for the 12 month contract already), and i'm certainly going to buy mists of pandaria, but... it's disappointing. i'm sure it's going to be awesome, because i really do have faith in blizzard's work, but still.

This is along the same lines as adding Hello Kitty to the game. Panderia should be a stand-alone expansion for the Asian crowd, not forced into the overall WOW culture.

If you remember in WarCraft II the brewmaster was a Pandaren.
scdehaven Oct 24th 2011 12:27PM
okay so horde and ally have a translator now =] selling translation service 1000g per minute
hgsmith08 Oct 29th 2011 2:09AM
actually.. pandaren were in warcraft 3. usually as a brewmaster (one of the monk specs) so no blizzard isnt copying kungfu panda. in fact they were going to be a race in the burning crusade but then they decided not to.

Pandaren Class?
MattKrotzer Oct 21st 2011 2:49PM
Monk class. Pandaren race.
Xanyr Oct 22nd 2011 3:01AM
So is the Pandaren race shared between Horde and Alliance? That makes no sense...
Murdertime Oct 21st 2011 2:55PM
There's been a thing going around about the Panderans being divided into friendly looking eastern sage stereotype looking panderans and scary looking Panderans.
So it's probably going to be that.
