When we saw that
Blizzard had registered the
Mists of Pandaria trademark back in August, no one was sure what to think. Was it a sign of the next expansion, a
WoW Trading Card Game pack, or simply Chris Metzen playing an elaborate prank on us all? It turns out that
the first option was the correct one, but
big fat pandas are not the only things we have to look forward to next year. Huge
talent changes, the
WoW version of Pokemon,
scenarios and
challenge modes, a
new class (the monk), and even
a free copy of Diablo 3 (with the new
WoW annual pass) are all bundled into the next expansion. Which one of these interests you the most?

If not "DRUNKEN PANDA GONNA EAT UR FACE" then definitely the continent of Pandaria itself. The environments and architecture we've seen are seriously beautiful.

It's true they seem quite epic in size. I look forward to roaming them.
I still think we're the best part of a year away from release though. It's not easy to create a world like this from scratch but it's still quicker than making that world retail playable. There was little else from the videos other than _male_ Pandaren (females being another missing aspect).
Pet Battles and Scenarios are what I'm looking forward too. Also perhaps making a monk too.
I also am looking forward to the new talent trees. Does this mean next expansion is 15 levels? Hmm.
Arkonn Oct 22nd 2011 8:22AM
That is logical Jamie, however it'll probably just be a case that they up it by 5 levels for the next expansion. So it'll go 15, 30, 45, 60, 75, 90, 95. I'd be surprised if they did any more than 5 levels per xpac from here on out.

@Jamie: Remember though that Cory Stockton mentioned during the preview panel that the first two zones, The Jade Forest and the Valley of the Four Winds are complete in terms of art assets. Going by previous expansions, it's the art that takes the longest time and to have two zones that are already art-ready is huge. At this point, I'm still expecting a mid-year launch, especially when considering that 4.3 will probably come in November or December at the latest and pushing a single content patch for a year has already been known to be not ideal at all.

I think we're less than a year away honestly, by this time next year we may be waiting for the 5.1 or 5.2 patch. They have said they wanted faster releases, a year and half is feasible between releases, particularly when looking at this expac and seeing how much is actually done...it's just AMAZING!! creating a starting zone and new continent have to be MUCH easier than redoing everything and it looks like this was possibly been worked on since the same time as Cata and may have split the work.
I'm very glad that they have shifted their focus to doing more at end game, giving us a lot of options to do, it'll help compete with the likes of SWTOR and GW2.
I can't wait to get my hands on the beta (signed up for the annual pass yesterday) and play around with the Monk and Pandaren's :D

Kung Fu Panda 2, best movie and now best game evar!
They blew it out of the park with transmogrification, now they've got awesome class revamps and martial arts and raid challenges and better graphics and free Diablo 3....
Can't be more excited, really.

well, I have grown cautious with estimating release dates based on the artwork that Blizzard shows off. More than two years ago they released the first D3 gameplay videos and it looked so rich and polished that I thought it would be released within the next few months. And then there was on new information at all for more than a year.
So I'd guess a release in less than a year is just slightly more likely than "we scrapped the whole thing because we suddenly remembered that the whole Pandaren thing is way too silly."
Also I think we will never get the non-combat-pet-pet-combat thing. Each expansion there was one funny-but-not-related-to-actual-gameplay-thing that we liked but was never released. As much as I'd like to see this, I think it'll go the path of the titans. (see what I did there?)

double post is double *grrr* (also useless, sorry!)

I personally enjoy the extremely beautiful new environments and the more light tone this new expansion has.
Oh yes, and no flying before max level. I really like that.
Den Oct 22nd 2011 11:46AM
I guess you don't play on a pvp server. No flying till max level means gankers come back and kill from the sky. At least if everyone has flying, you can escape, or several people can persue the ganker, maybe even kill him with dots and slow-falling to safety.
I'd personally prefer no flying in the new zones, but again, I play on a pvp server. Flying is more a problem for us.

Zango Oct 22nd 2011 8:08AM
Terrible spelling there.
Dboy Oct 22nd 2011 8:13AM
@Zango
I think he was writing it phonetically.
Arkonn Oct 22nd 2011 8:14AM
My attempt at phonetic spelling. Because i'm just THAT excited!
SR Oct 22nd 2011 8:38AM
I'd like to add MOAR CHARACTER SLOTS to the wishlist.
Oh, there isn't a wishlist.
Well, damn.
Knob Oct 22nd 2011 8:39AM
I had to vote None because I feel this way too. There were too many "fun" announcements to just choose one.
Even something like the Pet Battle System, which the naysayers are already bashing as "LOLOLPOKEMONOLOLOLLOL FAILLLL", which is billed as content for non-raiders and non-pvpers, has be excited as a raider. Right now in live, I generally don't log into the game outside of raids...there's nothing to do. But the PBS looks to have enough content in it to whet the appetite of many players who just want to chill for a bit and have some good old-fashioned fun. It doesn't seem to have the hectic pacing or the adrenaline rush of a heroic progress raid or a PvE scenario (I assume the scenarios will be tightly tuned, especially since they know what everyone's gear level will be), but that's the beauty of it. You get to chill for a bit and still have something to do.
Combine that with all the other parts of the expansion (even the art style which is breathtaking), and it's really cruel to ask us to pick only one. :P
Orrine Oct 22nd 2011 10:12AM
Pretty much this. Except for mage talent loltree :)
ravyncat Oct 22nd 2011 12:41PM
This is me.
I can't choose because I like EVERYTHING. I mean, holy crap.
Dude, they sold me on this yesterday...and then kept selling me. I think Blizzard might own my soul now. o.o
I love the Pandas! I love where they live. The talent changes actually sound cool. I really like that each tier is a similar type talent that you pick depending on how you play or what you need. Being able to respec this talent in between bosses or whatever sounds awesome too.
Mini-pet Pokemon? Why the hell not? I laughed when they announced it and then started plotting which ones I will train. XD
The Monk sounds badass. I love melee anything and I am chomping at the bit to try healing while bashing something in the face. I love the no auto attack idea. It sounds fun.
The Scenarios sound fun too.
What got me was everything they announced just sounded fun. I don't play to prove my skill; I play to relax and enjoy myself.
Diablo III for free with a new sparklier sparkle pony was extra icing on the delicious Panda cake.
loop_not_defined Oct 22nd 2011 1:11PM
Ditto. Excited for ALL the things. :O
