When we saw that
Blizzard had registered the
Mists of Pandaria trademark back in August, no one was sure what to think. Was it a sign of the next expansion, a
WoW Trading Card Game pack, or simply Chris Metzen playing an elaborate prank on us all? It turns out that
the first option was the correct one, but
big fat pandas are not the only things we have to look forward to next year. Huge
talent changes, the
WoW version of Pokemon,
scenarios and
challenge modes, a
new class (the monk), and even
a free copy of Diablo 3 (with the new
WoW annual pass) are all bundled into the next expansion. Which one of these interests you the most?

Honestly I don't give a monkey about Panda's. I neither wanted or didn't want them. I'm surprised that the trademarking actually was the expansion name but I'm pleased that they managed to block their leaks this time so I managed to take in all the details of the new expansion at one time without going through the rumour mill for months previous.
The expansion itself suggests all win to me. Everyone expected 5 levels so that was no surprise but the new Monk class sounds like it will be a blast to play so I'm definitely stoked for that. Pet combat will probably grow on me once I have a crack at it and the other stuff is all filler.
I reckon it'll come out around mid-year as opposed to a xmas thing because I don't think Blizzard can get any closer than an 18 month turn-around on an expansion as well as content updates of the current expansion as well despite what they want to do. I'd be interested to see if they up the leveling experience to 15 levels for 90-105 to fit in with the new talent system later on, however.
The zones - what we've seen of them - do look stunning and different so a lot of the game time is initially going to be spent walking around exploring. No flight until max level is also probably a good idea this time as it means you get to see more of it from ground level as Cata has been all about flying everywhere at max speed so probably a lot of detail gets missed.
Can't wait for new info to now start filtering through about professions changes and stuff like that. Blizzard always give us a lot of content in them so I'm wondering if we might get something new here too as another option to cooking/fishing like we did with Cata.
But mostly what i want most of all - and i strongly suspect i'm not going to be the only one - is another slot on my current server to stick a monk onto rather than having to roll it somewhere else. All my slots on bloodhoof are taken with one of each class and they're all going to be 85 by the time this goes live. I have no wish to delete one as i think playing every class makes me a much better player in end game raiding etc.
I am liking the new yearly sub option. Everything about that spells win if you're likely going to be around without a break until the next expansion like I now plan to. You get a new mount which is nice, a free copy of Diablo 3 when it comes out which is even better and finally access to the beta guaranteed which was the seller for me. I want to look at trying for a server first badge doing something this time and getting a look at the game before it goes live so i can try stuff out and see what I can realistically manage is going to help big time.
BTW little tip you guys that are also going to sub into the years package. Change your subscription type to a six month package before you do. You're signed in for a year anyway so you might as well just take the payments in 2 hits and save yourself a few quid by doing it in a larger chunk.
On a final note you guys being killjoys and moaning just cause it's got panda's in it. Really? It's an expansion - there will be something for everyone. Just get down with the general feeling and be happy for the guys who are completely stoked about this. Blizzard will come through winners yet again with this, I have no doubt.

Yeah, I've already been doing the six-month subscription thing, to save a bit of money, so it was a no-brainer to do the year-long and keep the payment as six months at a time.

Actually, Metzen said that they had had huge leaks, and he didn't know how everything hadn't been broken to the public earlier. (This was at the Hilton last night when I saw him at the bar, got a pic with him, and complimented him on how well Blizz had plugged the Cata leaks.)

This is actually the expansion I've wanted since Vanilla

I'm excited for everything really, but the most exciting thing for me is the new talent system. I do think it requires some tweaking to keep it balanced, but I'll have to wait and see how it all turns out.
Also, who will finally make that fury warrior alt now that Titans Grip becomes available at lvl38? And that you can whirlwind while doing so?

I really don't know what part of 'I'm going to freakin' be playing in Kung Fu Panda without Jack Black' there is to complain about myself :D. I have a Panda Bear obsession and this can only help. Now, how I'm going to stop myself from race changing ever single one of my characters (all hunter/shaman/mages) into a Panda Bear I don't know just yet. May have to start saving, that $200 will feel like a ton....

The MUSIC!!! OMG!!!
I'm a big fan of WoW music, and for what I've seen in the trailers, this is going to be amazing! It sounds so majestic and calm... I can't wait to hear the battle counterpart!
(Yeah I'm one of those who roll blood elves only to hear the starting area cello over and over...)
Bellajtok Oct 22nd 2011 9:56AM
Out of these options, I have to say the talent changes (very very hard to choose), because..... well.... Just look at the druid talents. They're beautiful. Absolutely magnificent.

This is more commenting on Fudge's comment, as there is a key difference between a legitimate complaint and QQ. Saying that you don't like the pandas, monk, style, ect, is a legit complaint, as it's stating your personal preference. Things like "WOW IS DEAD" is just QQ, just complaining for the sake of complaining and being a general killjoy. I too look forward to all the QQ'ers taking flight, so they can go be killjoys somewhere else.
In other words: Don't be a dick about the things you don't like. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0la5DBtOVNI

Gnome Monk. Now I can kick others in the shins using class skills.
New continent looks great, mix of Outland trees and new buildings, and the zones seem bright, nice change from war ravaged landscapes.
Daynthebold Oct 22nd 2011 10:12AM
Nothing really. Not a thing. I'm rather underwhelmed.
laurajervis Oct 22nd 2011 10:17AM
I'm pleased they are moving away from an epic end-game bad guy. I'd love to see a final raid with Garrosh and Wynn duking it out...yup...a faction based final raid....which means our alts horde and alliance have a reason for playing end game content on both sides.

I think the biggest thing will be the return of World Bosses. I've been longing for War in Warcraft, and I think that this one simple thing will return us to absolutely destroying each other and I cherish the thought!

I'm excited for having a pandaren monk, but my heart really rests on WoW Pokemon. Phoenix Hatching, I choose you!
Mperiolat Oct 22nd 2011 10:24AM
There is an interesting wrinkle with the Pandaran that is not being discussed.
They're the first cross-faction race in WoW.
IF this is popular, could this mean the creation of the supposed third option for players? Maybe Tauren or blood elves could choose a side. Perhaps Dwarfs or trolls?
It would be an interesting way to shake up the game's dynamic, to be sure.
Caylynn Oct 22nd 2011 10:24AM
Excited about the new talent system and about the monk class! As for Pandarens, the race itself doesn't excite me too much, but the environments and scenery they've shown so far is gorgeous, so I'm happy with Pandaria itself, even if pandas don't excite me.
Kadzeroth Oct 22nd 2011 10:32AM
None of the above. Because ALL of it sounds like a blast! :D
Kadzeroth Oct 22nd 2011 10:33AM
None of the above. I'm excited for ALL of it! :)

Ugh...comment fail.

I think you may need to check what the meaning of 'whining' is. Also 'irony' for that matter. Which leaves you with a couple of participles and not much of substance.
