Welcome to day two of
BlizzCon 2011! We'll have more of the same liveblogg-y and gallery goodness for you today, and Saturday's panels feature the ever-popular open Q&A sessions, where people who traveled thousands of miles to reach Anaheim use precious moments at the microphone to complain about their class. Oh, well. At any rate, we'll be liveblogging all four
WoW-related panels again. Later, we'll also have galleries with pictures of the more important moments. If you don't have time to follow the liveblogs, don't worry! Any important news will get its own post.
Check back on the site for the four panels we'll be liveblogging for you below:
-
World of Warcraft Classes, Items, and Professions Q&A 4:00 p.m. EST / 1:00 p.m. PST
-
World of Warcraft Open Q&A 5:30 p.m. EST / 2:30 p.m. PST
-
World of Warcraft Lore and Story Q&A 7:15 p.m. EST / 4:15 p.m. PST
EDIT: Ack! Sorry, folks -- I made a mistake. The
World of Warcraft Art panel will be covered with a gallery and article, but we're not liveblogging it. I promise you'll see all the pretty pictures, though.
The news is out -- we'll be playing Mists of Pandaria! Find out what's in store with an all-new talent system, peek over our shoulder at our Pandaren hands-on, and get ready to battle your companion pets against others. It's all here right at WoW Insider!

If anybody who is going to "World of Warcraft Open Q&A" is reading this, can you PLEASE ask if they will finally be updating some older character models, specifically the human faces? Thank you!
Ice Oct 22nd 2011 12:29PM
And if someone wants they can also ask
"What was the single most powerful or hard to code ability you wanted to give to any class in cataclysm but scrapped it?"
One can hope..

I cannot understand why anyone would NOT want this question finally answered. We see our characters all the time in front of our faces and while blizz keeps making uber sweet looking enimies and bosses they neglect the horrid look of the vanilla races, even BE and Draenei could use a lil touch up compared to Worgen, Goblins and now Pandas.
Seriously Blizz we just want some more polygons is that so much to freaking ask????? Enough with the pokemon and other blah blah update our freaking models PLEEEASUS!!

Right after the Opening Ceremony, Ghostcrawler had an interview with the DirecTV people.
He said they were not going to update the models with the release of MoP, but that it was definitely something they were discussing.

I'm praying to the troll gods for some new feet!!
It seems Blizz want to even out the races' population in Azeroth. I think the altered class/race availability was indicative of this in 4.0, and now the new monk class being available to all races but worgen and goblins.
Updating vanilla models would probably be a resource drain, but it would go miles in getting more trolls/forsaken/humans etc out there.
Akawaka makes a good point about how the environment has changed, and improved all around our characters, while our characters themselves become increasingly more out of place.

It was Metzen actually, not GC. He gave the standard response to that question, that they would like to do it but they haven't really talked about it yet.
Noyou Oct 22nd 2011 3:48PM
As long as they are adding a new race or a new class, I would not expect them to update any of the old models. Aside from the standard, "It takes a ton of resources" part, they probably want us leveling a new toon or $paying$ for a race change. Both drive dollars into their pockets. Like anything, you have to always follow the money.

If you ask them what epicfun items Engineering is getting, I'll give you many cookies.

If my calculations are correct:
World of Warcraft Art Panel - 19:15h European Server Time
World of Warcraft Classes, Items, and Professions Q&A - 21:00h European Server Time
World of Warcraft Open Q&A - 22:30h European Server Time
World of Warcraft Lore and Story Q&A - 00:15h European Server Time
(thanks WoW-Insider for taking the Euros into account ;p luckily you're not at all US minded)
justinbragg911 Oct 22nd 2011 12:35PM
Why would a US based website/blog be US minded?
Haiko Oct 22nd 2011 12:56PM
Because it serves a global public and speaks about a game with millions of subscribers outside of the US. Usually the only way we notice it here in the old world is that 90% of all articles are published while we sleep, so a lot to read in the morning and then a day of silence. But with live-coverages it gets trickier to track stuff ;p
(I am glad that my Windows does not show US time, even though Microsoft is a US based company.)

Someone please ask about updated demon models for warlocks.
Bellajtok Oct 22nd 2011 12:41PM
^This.
Although I suspect it will be coming with the new warlock talent that gives you different demons. I'll be right back with it....
Bellajtok Oct 22nd 2011 12:42PM

I still want to know why there was a special pet for the Beijing Olympics, but not for the Olympics in Vancouver! We Canadians still want our moose! What does Blizzard have against Canadian Olympic games?
Docseuzz Oct 22nd 2011 12:52PM
