Twice-weekly raid resets being tested in Taiwan and Korea starting this week

This change will not apply to the Deathwing raid, which will reset once a week as usual, nor will the weekly valor point cap be changing. The change is, according to the post, meant to allow people to gear up faster by killing bosses twice as often. There is currently no word on whether this will play solely to Taiwanese servers, or to all regions. If it does come to U.S. servers, it is likely our reset will revolve around Tuesday downtime, making the ideal second-reset day Friday.
Check after the break for a quick and dirty Google translation of the post.
UPDATE: Community Manager Zarhym has posted the following:
4.0 and 4.2 Raids to reset twice a week?
The new raid lockout changes for Taiwan and Korea adjust the lockout timers for the patch 4.0 and 4.2 raids. The lockout timers for these raids will now reset twice weekly instead of once. These raid lockout changes are being made to allow players to raid more often and get more chances at epic loot drops. Players will be able to down current Cataclysm raid bosses twice a week, accelerating players' progression.
We are testing these new raid lockout changes in Taiwan and Korea first. Our goal is to expand this change to other regions in the future, but we don't have anything further to announce at this time with regard to North American implementation.

Taiwan Battle.net
October 27, the server maintenance, we will apply for the 4.0 and 4.2 copies of the progress of the team resets the changes, once the current progress of 7 days reset, reset the two into one week. Progress will be reset every week for the first time on Thursday morning 09:00, the second progress will be reset at 09:00 on Sunday.
This change will not affect the courage points. Courage maximum points will still be reset on Thursday, the courage to kill the leader of the points is obtained as before. For a copy of the progress of the team resets the changes will not apply in the 4.3 update in the soul of the dragon raid. So far, only a copy of the death of the wing team will be on Thursday reset.
This change is a team willing to make a copy of the players who have more access to equipment. Despite the courage points will not be affected, this change and still give the team a copy of their team leader twice a week to kill, get twice the equipment, accelerate team growth. Wrath of the Lich King expansion pack, there are 10 people involved in the team with 25 copies of the players, should change the way this feels very familiar. And want to maintain the current schedule or delay the progress of replacement players, you can still use the team page in the "delayed the progress of the team" function for this purpose.
If you worry about forgetting to reset the progress of the new team a copy of the time, from October 27 onwards, the game calendar in your weekly progress will be displayed to reset the time.
We will be happy to hear your response to this change, I hope this change will be given to several members of the team and the Society a copy of the player more power.

i wonder if extending your raid lockout would help

aww combo breaker

It'd be nice to see this applied to older content, for farming transmog gear.
epicboyz Oct 25th 2011 11:24PM
i totally agree. i love getting a couple of friends and running old raids!
Narshe Oct 25th 2011 11:24PM
I'd also kill (or beg, I have no dignity) for Blizz to let us enter raids solo instead of in a raid group. I'm really tired of asking RealId friends or guild mates to let me borrow one of their alts so I can farm Xmog loots. It's an out dated concept that needs to change IMO.
Vitos Oct 26th 2011 12:27AM
Now I can kill Attumen twice a week every week for four years, instead of once a week! Whooo ponies!
Schadenfreude Oct 26th 2011 3:20PM
This. Honestly, raids of WotLK level and below should be 1-day lockouts and you should be able to get in by yourself. Trying to get offpieces for transmogging is the worst, and even set pieces are bad in karazhan. (I use the level-10-character-on-a-trial-account trick, but I would be happy for the change.)

Sounds great! Looking forward to a US blue post on it, but I can't remember a time when a Euro or Asian announcement didn't pan out.
Skarn Oct 25th 2011 10:56PM
That strikes me as really weird. Isn't that much "required" raiding what the developers were trying to prevent as part of melding 10/25 lockouts?
Skarn Oct 25th 2011 10:57PM
Also, what was that about wanting LESS Dragonwrath's out there?
Pyromelter Oct 26th 2011 1:20AM
The old Zul'Gurub used to have this exact lockout system... although I think the days were different. It was like Tuesday at 4 am and Friday at 4 am.
Those of us praying for tiger mounts would solo that bad boy twice a week. Never got it tho /cry, and the panther thing that looks exactly like the night elf mounts frankly is straight lame compared to the zulian tiger.
As far as Dragonwraith, it'll still take a long time, but I'm of the opinion it takes non-elite raiders too long to get legendaries. With the exception of 1 horde guild on my server, everyone on my server got Shadowmourne well after it was really necessary for dps checks. And plenty of people never got it. Let's not even talk about Val'anyr. People who have and are getting dragonwraith by now have been doing firelands for what, 5 months? That's a crap-ton of raiding and time... and just simple grinding.
Frankly I think the "farm a raid for 1-2 months for legendary shards" is real crap when it comes to legendaries. I prefer more of the "do something special during a boss kill" type thing. The optional boss thing is cool too. Farming for materials, go do that for crafted epics. Leave it out of the epic questing for a legendary, please.
Anyway if this helps a few more people get a legendary at this point, I don't see why you (or anyone) would have a problem with it. It still takes a crap ton of effort, and the total time you put into getting it doesn't go down (it's just that the time you put in will now be compressed on the calendar).
Skarn Oct 26th 2011 5:01PM
Didn't say I had a problem with it, but I'm not surprised it was easy to read that into my comment. :) I just think it's...odd. Particularly when Blizzard JUST got done adjusting drop rates to slow down the legendary acquisition, it's weird that they'd suddenly double the rate. (Or is that halve the rate? Oh well.) One possibility is that the US and Europe won't get the double-lockout until 4.3 hits, so Firelands won't be the rage any more. I don't know how far "behind" China and Taiwan are, but this will help bring them up to speed...if that's needed at all.
I too am annoyed by the Legendary rate for non-elite raiders. My guild's caster will be getting stage 2 in two weeks. We won't even complete one before Dragon Soul comes out. We've been killing Rags for weeks now and we're even 3/7 Heroic modes. Then again, a chunk of that slowdown is because we're a 10-man guild. I don't have a problem with Legendary weapons being rare, but this is fairly ridiculous.
The most interesting part of the Dragonwrath chain is the Foci "Delegation" stage and the solo-instance run before that. Our raiders asked last night "after you get stage 2, what's next?" And my answer was "oh, we just kill more bosses and collect a third drop from them." There response was (naturally) "well that's lame." So I agree Pyro, I'd love to see more "do this boss different" like the Shadowmourne chain. I also really loved the addition of a solo hard boss kill as part of the chain. I absolutely adore the idea that getting a legendary actually tests the skills of the individual raider and not just "how long does it take to collect X?"
Zul'Gurub actually reset every 3 days, but wasn't on a set timer. If it reset this week on Tuesday and Friday, then next week it would reset on Monday and Thursday, eventually cycling back around to Tuesday/Friday. I never did see either of the mounts drop while the raid was current. I finally got the Raptor a few weeks before it was removed. Never saw the Tiger. :/

With the joint lockout of 10/25 man this will mean that players can choose to do both on any given week. +1
I was going to give -1 for not giving slower raid teams enough time to clear over a week... But then I remembered the extend lockout option so: +1 to that as well!
It is also going to help faster running guilds gear faster. Slower guilds shouldn't note a difference really, except to remember to extend the lockout as needed.
Aaaand finally, the LFR will benefit from this considerably.
Blizzard once again you prove you know what you're on about by giving us options to suit our different play-styles! Can't wait to see what's next :D
mem0ryburn Oct 25th 2011 11:17PM
wow a sensible comment without negativity towards blizz for offering options. i think you got the wrong place pal
Helston Oct 25th 2011 11:34PM
Nope, he's in the right place =D
anglgnnr Oct 26th 2011 12:17AM
Yes. I'm thrilled. I have a group where we could be doing hard modes but can't because we are supporting a 25 man. This extra lock out would be an ideal solution.
Wilk Oct 26th 2011 12:26AM
Unfortunately since it only applies to T11 and T12 raids, LFR in 4.3 will not benefit from this due to LFR only working on the Dragon Soul raid.

They should only do this for Old Raids and leave Current Content at a week.. Hopefully that would be the plan.
