Patch 4.3 has a new mount we're all very curious about, the Heart of the Aspects. What we're curious about is how we're going to get our grubby little mitts all over it. Is it a heroic Deathwing drop? Or do we get it for completing a raid wide meta-achievement? Is it for killing Deathwing without the aid of the Aspects, the way Mimiron's Head dropped in Wrath? That last one seems unlikely to me, with the way heroic difficulty is accomplished now, but I can't rule it out.
Also interesting to note is Experiment 12-B, also new in the most recent data push. What does he look like? Where does he come from? Is it for killing Ultraxion? Another possible meta-achievement mount, as we speculated the Life-Binder's Handmaiden could be? At this time, I have no idea -- but it's new and shiny and I'm sure we'll all want one.
We've included the video from MMO-Champion behind the cut, so you can get a look at the Heart of the Aspects mount in motion.
That's not unique to Blizz store mounts. The Headless Horseman Mount's tooltip also has that. There are some mounts that change based on whether the area is flyable or not.
I gotta fess up- Mounts don't do much for me, especially dragon mounts (how many are we up to? 20?), but this one looks pretty cool. A strong indicator that I'll never get it.
I know the feeling... I just wished that they give it away for free to all of us that stuck with Cata and still have the troll instance shoulders... there could also be an achievement with it... it could be called the We are sorry to put your through this achievement.
Imaginge they give it to everyone... like the bronze dragon mount... that would be sooo cool. But getting back to reality... I will most likely never get this mount just like you.
The mount animation (well, minus the wings, they look like they're flapping backward) really screams "eastern dragon" to me. I'm expecting to see flocks of mounts like this in MoP.
@Schadenfreude: Eastern dragons typically don't have wings at all-- I don't recall seeing any, but that doesn't mean they don't exist. Chinese dragons, for example, pretty much swim through the air, hence the undulating motions; you're absolutely right about the animations. I'm damn proud of Blizzard for nailing that so well. I think the wings on this model are just there to keep in line with the fact that all of the dragons in WoW have wings of some sort. Pure speculation on my part, but that's all I can fathom with what we've got.
It seems like a mix between Western and Eastern dragons to me, it's definitely neat looking. I wouldn't be all that surprised if it isn't actually obtainable in 4.3 (ie: just the data is put into the game to datamine) and it was a MoP mount.
Pokemon is from Japan, not China. We can't be counting all of Asia to form our biases now can we?
And while this dragon has some Chinese dragon elements, (three toes, (even though all dragons in the game have three toes), shorter legs, long body), it is missing some stereotypical elements in the design.
@furrama I think you're reading far too much into it.
I think what TinFoilHat was trying to get at is that we're going to have an asian themed expansion and the dragon definitely has a more eastern dragon feel then most of the western style dragons currently in game. So It's possible he'll come from something to do with MoP and not the Dragon Soul raid.

What's interesting is that the tooltip mentions the same skill/location changes that mounts from the Blizz store have in their tooltips.

Yup. My theory is that it is a store purchase. But could be wrong. (shrug)

I'll just leave this here.

seems to me that the chromatic dragon should be for MoP. def has a asian look to it.

I was going to say the same thing, this could be a reward from something that will come with the MoP content patch.

It's actually impossible to read between the lines without making assumptions, by definition
Revynn Oct 26th 2011 4:00PM
@ Imnick - Sure, you can.
Here's some lines:

You are reading between the lines

It would work better if there weren't tiny empty spaces between all those lines ;)

It's so...pretty! I look forward to seeing it reskinned a thousand times in upcoming expansions.
Nyold Oct 26th 2011 3:18PM
For the master I'll skin it a thousand times!! A thousand times!!
Jk, I'm wondering if Blizz just hired a new genius artist, with this dragon, and the new paladin pvp set....
Necromann Oct 26th 2011 3:09PM
I WANT THAT DRAGON!!!
