The industrious busy bees over at
Wowhead News have pulled a rabbit out of a hat with the latest PTR build -- or rather, a hat pattern out of a mess of data. Tailors who have been eagerly waiting to craft the
High Society Top Hat worn by Worgen players throughout the expansion will be pleased to learn that the pattern has finally made its way to the 4.3 PTR. Though the pattern has been viewable on Wowhead for quite some time, it never made an appearance in game, frustrating crafters and snappy dressers alike since
Cataclysm's launch.
While the old pattern required a variety of different low-level materials to craft, the new one has been adjusted for materials that are more relevant to the expansion. No more wool cloth; you're going to need four Dreamcloth to construct this puppy. Oh, and those
Polished Bronze Rivets that used to be a part of the recipe? They're no longer required, either. Thank you, Blizzard. Me and my pickpocketing rogue with the aching fingers will be crying in a corner over our useless stash of rivets.
No word yet on where the pattern comes from, but we'll keep you updated if we hear more.
Brace yourselves for what could be some of most exciting updates to the game recently with patch 4.3. Review the official patch notes, and then dig into what's ahead: new item storage options, cross-realm raiding, cosmetic armor skinning and your chance to battle the mighty Deathwing -- from astride his back!

I think I need to look up that post about the obsolete item museum and donate all my rivets to them -_-;;

Riplington is the curator, and Pestle of Infinite Asylum is the founder.
That's where I always send my gray stuff when I'm emptying my bags!

I want this soo badly for my bank alt that I contemplated lvling up a worgen and then faction changing it to horde just so I can manage my little empire with class
Noyou Oct 26th 2011 2:15AM
Dreamcloth you say? I shall stockpile, er double my efforts. ;) Ty Miss (Mrs.) Stickney!

Four dreamcloth? And I thought the Embersilk Gown was expensive to make. That's a hell of a price tag for a vanity item.

You should have seen the jewelcrafting monocles when they first came out (actually, they're still pretty pricey). Speaking of which, i'm still heartbroken we can't wear them together.

Considering I usually have more Dreamcloth than I know what to do with (I generally make spellthreads), it's not so bad to me.

About damn time.

I'm more interested in that top hat with the crown that the Orphans were wearing.
nonentity Oct 26th 2011 8:42AM
They better not be fucking with us, I really want that top hat finally. :/
Thallium Oct 26th 2011 8:51AM
Does the Top Hat not have any stats on it? They should add in a low level stat one of each armor type for Transmog.
I want to kill Deathwing in style, dammit.
Edymnion Oct 26th 2011 9:23AM
What? My rivets are useless now?
Gawdammitsomuch!
Kael Oct 26th 2011 10:59AM
I assume this is being put in the game for transmog purposes, right?
khatre Oct 26th 2011 11:09AM
The pattern is blue but the item is WHITE.
Why oh why couldnt they have made it a green or blue item that had a stat so we could have used it to mog!??!!!??!!
I want the hat but i do not want to give up my head stats to get it.
mlvarden Oct 26th 2011 11:16AM
I'm not certain, but it seems possible that the origin of this item's name comes from George Clinton's "Atomic Dog"; one of the early lines in the song is "untied dog in a top hat society". Seems appropriate for worgen!

Son. Of. A. Bitch.
Been saving rivets i got and buying them whenever i saw them for LESS THAN 50g since the start of the expansion. I was only planning on making a modest profit, selling them for 75-100g ea, depending on the market, but now theyre worthless?
Thanks blizz, this makes me want to punch babies. Between that and all the pyrite i have stockpiled i have made some very poor investments this expansion. :(
As long as the 4.3 crafted gear requires truegold i should at lest be able to make my money back...
hwacha Oct 27th 2011 10:31AM
its not really blizzard's fault you took a risk on something that was datamined and therefore not implemented.
that said, i'm also pissed about all the pyrium in my bank.
