The legendary rogue-only daggers coming in
patch 4.3, the
Fangs of the Father, bring an epic quest line and a cool cosmetic effect with them. But of course, you or a rogue you know will want them for one thing and one thing only: the proc. And here it is in all its glory:
Shadows of the Destroyer.
Not only is it a permanent (if variable and requiring some buildup) agility boost, but it'll also periodically explode to immediately grant you 5 combo points and cause your finishers to also generate 5 combo points for 6 seconds. Now, the only downer here is that it doesn't make your finishers cost 0 energy, so you probably won't be able to fully take advantage of those 6 seconds, but it's still a damn good proc.
Brace yourselves for what could be some of most exciting updates to the game recently with patch 4.3. Review the official patch notes, and then dig into what's ahead: new item storage options, cross-realm raiding, cosmetic armor skinning and your chance to battle the mighty Deathwing -- from astride his back!

And you know there will be rogues complaining on the forum that the proc isn't good enough because it could potentially proc with 4CP.

I kinda feel ashamed that that was actually what I thought while reading the descripiton. Till the 6 seconds line that is.
Eyhk Oct 26th 2011 12:31PM
Lol, got me there but just thinking of the strategy behind optimal use makes my head hurt. Im guessing you'll have to start pooling energy starting the 30 stack mark and only use abilities to avoid capping. The first 5cp will be too random to predict accurately so might as well call it a loss and have enough energy to use at least 3 finishers back to back during the period. I'm feeling sorry for the theory crafters right now ;-)

The only thing that would make that more awesome is if it forced my character to say "I'm Batman" whenever it procced.
mrespman Oct 26th 2011 2:17AM
Or even better: 'I'm the goddamn Batman.'
Raphiki Oct 26th 2011 5:19AM
I have a strong feeling someone will craft an addon playing the intro song from the Batman of the sixties when these daggers proc.

If a Combat Rogue manages to time an Adrenaline Rush CD with the Fury of the Destroyer proc, that could be some insane, INSANE, DPS.
Kbs Oct 26th 2011 2:53AM
now imagine a finisher not on GCD
Skrotus Oct 26th 2011 10:49AM
And now remember that these are daggers and you won't be using them as combat anyway!
Quasar Oct 26th 2011 10:54AM
They have specifically stated that the daggers will be desirable to combat as well. I don't know if they said how, but id assume the speed of the MH changes if you are Combat.
Skrotus Oct 26th 2011 11:15AM
Oh well my bad then, it'll be interesting to see how they do it. I don't really see this proc being significantly better for combat personally.
trefpoid Oct 26th 2011 2:23AM
That proc is pretty damn fine.
KJ118 Oct 26th 2011 3:08AM
With 3 ranks of the relentless strikes buff you will have 100% chance to get a 25 energy refund on finishers with 5 CPs. Eviscerate and envenom cost 35, and I believe you base regen 10 energy per second.
KJ118 Oct 26th 2011 3:09AM
*Relentless Strikes talent.
djsuursoo Oct 26th 2011 11:28AM
combat rogue just looks more and more awesome with this, given how they have a passive energy regen chance from off-hand strikes as well.
basically if a combat rogue is lucky/quick the ycould pop slice'n'dice, adrenaline rush, and basically be throwing out five-point eviscerates with maybe an envenom for flavor.
then finish with a killing spree as a way to keep your muscles loose :P
personal expectation on how they'll make it appealing to combat rogues: really really high max damage per swing on both daggers, rather than make the main-hand slow.
Fletcher Oct 26th 2011 3:23AM
The proc is nice and all, but I'm having real trouble getting excited about it ever since the models of the daggers were revealed. They look like an old god vomited on Deathwing and we peeled off a bit of congealed old god dragon gloop and stuck a handle on it. There's better looking green daggers. From Vanilla.
icepyro Oct 26th 2011 3:39AM
but... but... that's more or less exactly what they are... well not DW, but they are the Fangs... of the Twilight Father...
Everclear Oct 26th 2011 3:32AM
I hope the massive wings pop out during the proc.
