Breakfast Topic: Who should play your character in the WoW movie?

As we all know, there's the distinct possibility of a World of Warcraft movie some time in the (relatively) near future. Some people are skeptical, some optimistic. Hopefully, it will be an epic tale, full of the flavor and excitement we all feel every time we log in to Azeroth, not a rehashing of stories we've known for ages or a bastardization of the hobby we all enjoy so much. Whether it focuses on Horde or Alliance, there will need to be characters of various shapes and sizes, representing the varied peoples of the World of Warcraft. Gnomes, Humans, Trolls and Tauren, the movie presents the opportunity to show the fantasy genre on a scope unseen thus far.
So who would you cast to play your character? Who brings the smarmy wit of the wily rogue, the cold confidence of the devious warlock or the young but arrogant sneer of the proud paladin on your character selection screen?
Since I get first dibs, as the author of this, I'm going to go ahead and stake my claim. My Human protection warrior would be played by Deborah Ann Woll from True Blood. She brings just the right mix of strength, sexiness, and wide-eyed bewilderment to play my common Stormwind girl-gone-heroine.

Gnomish Robert Downey Jr...? A fella can dream.

I should. I have always felt that I'm a troll at heart. Gimme tribal drums and sexy dancing and Voodoo any day! I already have the red hair, now all I need is blue skin and tusks... xD

That was kind of my thought... I'd love to play my own character. Give me glowing green eyes, some prosthetic ears, and whip me back into shape... Voila! You've got my hunter. She was meant to look like me, after all.
It would also be the perfect excuse to have a professional train me in archery and hand-to-hand combat. Mmmmm... Now the real question left is this: Who would play opposite ourselves as the inevitable "love interest" that Hollywood likes to toss into any movie? :D

My Undead Holy Priest is essentially a "Horde" me...but the more I think about it, the more I'm convinced Steve Buscemi could play me better than I could.

dont forget that WoW characters are in amazing shape and most WoW players are a round shape.
ever been to blizzcon? some ugly people play WoW
Shadowwind Oct 27th 2011 11:51AM
Ah, but UNlike our characters, WE are capable of changing our bodyshapes! And I can only speak for me, here, but being able to play my troll in a movie would be more than enough motivation to complete a pretty grueling regime.
That said, if I couldn't play my shaman, I'd probably pick Claudia Black. She's proven she can play a battle-hardened fighter, she's got the right kind of voice for a troll (aside from the accent, obviously), and oh damn can she kick arse! ...you know, the longer I look at her, the more convinced I become that there's even some facial resemblance between her and Shadowwind.

Fair point, there *are* some ... convex-shaped WoW players, but I've seen lots of slim people at BlizzCon too and tbh, I think it's a mix of shapes and sizes just like everywhere else. I for one try to do a reasonable amount of exercise, I don't always succeed and I'm certainly not as skinny as my troll girl but I still fit the description "slim" ;-)
@Mortenebra: As for the love interest, I've always had a secret crush on Archmage Pants but don't anyone at WoW Insi... -oops!

My blood elf will be played by Greta Garbo, rescued by time machine.
What? Time travel is about equally as probable as my character ever making it into a Warcraft movie.
Ullaana Oct 27th 2011 10:04AM
Oh, Nina,
Thanks for the Time Machine idea. William Conrad for my dwarf warrior. Wahoo.

I want Domanic West (the Wire) to play my Gnome Mage, and Will Smith for my Paladin

I'm a human warlock, so it has to be Alan Rickman.
gruum Oct 27th 2011 8:56AM
Charlie Sheen would be more appropriate...

Ron Perlman would be my choice for my Orc Death Knight, in an epic adventure to reddem himself, spread diseases and raise the undead.
DeathPaladin Oct 27th 2011 11:31AM
You will have an ally in my human Death Knight, portrayed by Sean Bean.

I'm just going to nominate Chris Metzen. I don't care what he does, as long as he's in it. His voice is butter.
MattKrotzer Oct 27th 2011 8:20AM
Might as well, I think he's likely playing half of the cast anyway. ;)
