Choose My Adventure: Conflicted and confused

BlizzCon interrupted the adventures a bit, but this week should be mostly back to normal:
- Josh Myers will be playing Clergelam (level 14) on Thursday at 12 p.m. EDT (9 a.m. PDT, 10 a.m. server time).
- Joe Perez will be playing Haemon (level 15) on Sunday at 4 p.m. EDT (1 p.m. PDT, 2 p.m. server time).
- Fox Van Allen will be playing Foxlight the Shirtless Pally (level 27) on Friday at 7 p.m. EDT (4 p.m. PDT, 5 p.m. server time).
- Roblinator the Goblin shaman (level 60) will play on Friday at 1 p.m. EDT (10 a.m. PDT, 11 a.m. server time).
Josh Myers as Clergelam
In the past, I've complained about Clergelam's Kezan adventures being overtly evil, with her complicity in the Troll slave trade and her loan sharking. After that, I didn't find Clergelam to be a sympathetic character during her adventures in Lost Isles, since she might have accidentally depopulated an entire pygmy culture and slain an entire ecosystem of local fauna with her weed-whacker belt.
By now, I'm finding myself desensitized to the destruction and horror that Clergelam's quest chains wreak on the local environment. So, when I got to Azshara at the bequest of Warchief Anger Management Problems and found myself tasked with murdering the local wildlife and cutting down ancient trees for lumber, my initial response was "Is that all?"
Of course, that wasn't all. It's never all. See, Clergelam's ecological terrorism caught the attention of Captain Planet and the Planeteers ... err, I mean, the local Night Elf population, which are the closest thing.
Normally, I have no qualms with killing Night Elves. I love killing Night Elves. In fact, while I have rules against ganking lower-level characters, I take a particular pleasure in breaking those rules and ganking any Night Elves who have variations of Drizzt in their names. But, there's a difference between killing Night Elf hunters named after fantasy characters that I hate and killing environmental activists. One is totally forgivable; the other just makes you a terrible person.
Unfortunately, by this point in her leveling experience, Clergelam's behavior has me feeling sort of numb. I was hoping hitting level 12 and leaving the Goblin starting area would help her be a better person, but Azshara was not where I needed to go for that to happen. Maybe she needs to spend the next few levels in prison. Or a convent. She's a priest -- it could work!

Roblinator and friends were called upon to fight many evil Orcs in Hellfire Ramparts. Red Orcs. Lots of red Orcs. We slaughtered them all.
Honestly, I forget why we did it. The whole orange place is very confusing. The Orcs send us to kill other Orcs. And one of them wears a mask. One of the Orcs that sends us to kill other Orcs, that is. And then when we returned from these ramparts, they said it wasn't enough and there would be more we'll have to kill.
So we left. We got on our pretty new flying mounts and flew to a pretty place with huge pretty mushrooms. That is where we'll be questing this week.
Next week will be PVP again.

You voted for Roblinator to stay in Zangarmarsh at 62, but where do you want her to go next?

Hey Robin, are you still streaming on your blog/website/stream channel? If so, are you allowed to put the link in the comments here? I forgot to bookmark the link to your blog before.

Josh - I had the same problem. I can't get a goblin past about level 7.

Roblinator should skip both Nagrand and Terrokar - I think she should go to Blade's Edge Mountains instead. An alt of mine skipped Hellfire, started Outland in Zangarmarsh and then moved to Blade's Edge - such a refreshing change from the same-ole-same-ole.

Warchief Anger Management Problems.... that pretty much sums it up. I hate going to Orgrimmar now. I

Response:
You are totally right. Anybody named after fantasy characters that you hate is a forgiveable offense, while being an environmantal activist makes you a terrible person.
I'm glad you finally saw the light before your Hummer was set on fire ... lol
On a note relating to the subject - I like Drizzt and in my mind it's BLOOD ELVES that should carry his name and legacy (especially BElf Rogues ...) - if you rmeember he was a DARK elf, not a Night alf. Night elves got their name from Blizzard and they claim to be the enlightened ones (see all Alliance propaganda here) while they paint BElfs and all Horde characters as dark ones.

Drizzt was NOT a Dark Elf, he was a Drow. Drow are a black skinned, evil, Spider God worshiping, matriarchal society of elves, forced to live in the subterranean levels of Abeir-Toril, also known as The Underdark. They were expelled from their homeland of Evermeet by the High Elves (or Gold Elves) and Moon Elves (also known as Silver or Grey Elves) for the crimes they committed.
Gold Elves closely resemble Blood Elves, having extremely fair to golden skin, lightly colored Hair, and various shades of blue to green eyes (usually with flecks of gold in them). On top of that they are very arrogant and dedicate themselves to the Arcane Arts.
Moon Elves are much more like Night Elves in coloring, having darker skin shades, and hair that varies from white to blue to purple, occasionally silver will appear, but it is fairly rare. They are different in that they propose mingling with the other races as opposed to the isolationist view that the Gold elves have.
Drow are EVIL, like eating babies evil. They stage raids to the surface for the express purpose of murdering the other races of elves, children included. They have no mercy, they have no regret, and they have nothing in common with the Elves of Azeroth.
However, to look at Drizzt alone I'd say that he fits more as a Night Elf, both physically (appearance) and his outlook. As a side note, Drizzt is a Ranger, not a Rogue, so Hunter would be his class in WoW. His pet is Gwenhwyvar, a large magical black panther.

I think natsumi just dropped a bosendorfer grand piano of KNOWLEDGE right there. +1

Nagrand is one of the only zones I will actually quest in, in Outlands, these days. Everything else is meh.
Pyromelter Oct 28th 2011 4:21AM
Aww c'mon, zangarmarsh is cool, the problem is you've just probably done it 800 million times (I feel like I have). Terokkar is... ehhh hasn't aged as well. Shadowmoon Valley though is freakin awesome. The quests, the storylines, the rewards, all very interesting and fun, plus if you're a miner you get your biggest shots at the elusive Khorium in SMV.
Yes, Nagrand is indeed cool, but I'd have to say Shadowmoon Valley is my favorite Outland area to quest. Fighting ghosts? Communing with the elements of Draenor? Getting items to see spirits all over the place? Getting involved with Teron Gorefiend? The whole thing with the Netherwing Dragonflight? (Yes the dailies on the ledge get tedious in terms of farming for your drake, but the quest lines getting there are money.) Plus Maiev and the ashtongue deathsworn? And you even get a cameo from Illidan?
I mean the biggest issue overall with SMV is you outlevel it too fast or can just head off to Northrend. But SMV is still an awesome place with massive demonic and fel energy, it feels like a warzone.

more of the same wowinsider bias.
If it's only all horde as usual then who cares.
Surprised you guys are posting articles about blizz's bias when you perpetrate it yourself.
Robin Torres Oct 30th 2011 12:26PM
Yay! It's been a long time since we've had a "horde bias" complaint! What fun :)
Of course, there are only two factions and we had to pick one for our guild and before I ever became GM, the powers that be flipped a coin and a Horde guild was born.
To paraphrase A Room with a View: It was luck, but you can call it bias if you like.

I apologize - I guess I HAVE forgotten quite a lot since I've last read the books ...
Having said that, I still think that Drizzt is NOT like a Night Elf.
Also (if my memory serves me right) he did not use range weapons but he was dual wielding. If so, isn't it just like Combat Rogue?
Having a pet is not the only thing that defines a hunter - it's mostly the range weapons as opposed to melee.
Also as far as I recall the Drow used stealth to sneak on their targets - please correct me again if my memory is still foggy. It's about time to re-read the stories anyways - they are worth it :)
