Outbreak Lordaeron snagged second place in the BlizzCon 2011 machinima contest. You can see why the movie did well within the first few seconds. The voice acting and graphics are amazing; the action is well choreographed and fluid. Jeffrey Cuiper created the machinima, and the music was performed by Walid Feghali. Voice acting was provided by Jesse Cox, Matt Greenburg, Jesse O'Connor, and Rawrbug.
Daniel Whitcomb pointed out immediately that Outbreak Lordaeron is a parody of Left4Dead. I admit that I didn't recognize it. Even without understanding that video game reference, it's impossible not to get the obvious reference to traditional zombie horror. Four survivors must fight their way through the undead horde. The survivors' only hope is to use their wits, energy, and simple weapons to struggle toward freedom. Interested in the wide world of machinima? Well, i think it sorta makes some sense... As the high elves were allies of the Alliance during the original outbreak that swept through Lorderon. And it seems as though this was based during the original outbreak. But yeah, I enjoyed this video a lot. I wanted to see them kick more ass.
Animation: Great. Music: Great. Story: Great. Sure, its been done before, but I haven't seen zombie evacuation for WoW yet. Models (both characters and weapons): Great. Witty one-liners: Great.
It's interesting to note that the animator is the same animator who made love rocket last year, while the writer/director carried the same role for I am Forsaken(last years second place) According to his channel, Boom De Ya Da Wow, by Irdeen, was also written by him.
The composer, Walid Feghali, is the composer for both I am Forsaken, Outbreak Lordaeron and Too Cute to kill (this years winning third place entry)
Voice actor wise, 3/4 are well known and have been in a few well known machinimas(Jesse Cox is obvious, as is Rawrbug. Matt Greenburg I believe did the directing/narration for Too Cute to Kill, as well as What would Warchief Garrosh do? The other Jesse hasnt dont much I think, except the voice for I am Forsaken{could be wrong} )
It's Neat to see different machinima folks working together.
How cool if Blizz could make something like this for a scenario/ dungeon? Where you look like a regular citizen, and run around blasting zombies and such, trying to get to a safe point? It'd be awesome.

Noooo, not the Wilhelm Scream! Nooo!
...I liked the whole video. I found it somewhat amusing that even in an Alliance-based video there has to be a blood [high] elf in it.

That was awesome. But I have a very important, very pressing question:
What gear did the "high elf" have equipped. Because I want it something fierce.

If it weren't for pointing out it was a parody of L4D, I wouldn't have recognized it probably until the end, with the guitar and molotov.
Should have put in a "reloading", or "grabbing (item)", would have made it far more obvious.

Having never played Left4Dead, I didn't even know this video was a parody of it! I did enjoy the video. :) It was very well done.

Should have been called Left 4 Red. :D

ya know, a Stratholme L4D map would be awesome

Someone already did an Orgrimmar Arena map for TF2.
Since they run on the same engine, should be easy to port over.

Indeed. I love it when I recognize not just voice actors but writers and animators on collab-projects like this.

Honestly my least favorite of the entrys.
Dreyja Oct 27th 2011 2:56PM
I REALLY hope they do follow up with a series of these! The mix of characters is just about perfect.
I was hoping this one would be posted soon. :D
Dreyja Oct 27th 2011 3:02PM
PS. I'm totally going to use: "Watch yer head Maggot-BRAIN!" next time I kill any undead. XD
Emophia Oct 27th 2011 3:20PM
I don;t understand why the High Elf said 'chaps!'
But I liked it.
TypicalJeff Oct 27th 2011 7:19PM
I think the one fellow was named Chaps actually.
