Today's answers are short, but it doesn't mean that I don't love you. It just means that the questions didn't require long answers, and also that someone thought it'd be really funny to post the same comment half a dozen times on different accounts, each comment acquiring half a page of replies saying variations of "shut up already." Nice work by all involved.
Above is the first single from Justice's new album, Audio. Video. Disco.
Yous95 asked:
Who are the Mogu, and have they been around in lore even before MoP?
They're the old masters of the Pandaren, and no, they have not been around in lore prior to this expansion announcement. The most important thing you need to know about the Mogu is that they look like Foo Dogs, and that makes them awesome.
Daedalus asked:
The Sha have been identified as one of the major enemy groups, essentially darkness and negative energy made solid. Well, this site pointed out that we've seen that name before in the game: Sha'tar, Shattrath, Sha'naar... apparently, in the lore, "Sha" means light... in demonic. (originally Eredar.)
Given that Pandarens can't be warlocks, do you think there's still a chance of some demonic machinations at work in Pandaria?
"Sha" means "light" in Eredar, not in Pandaren. You're reading into it too much.
dmberreth asked:
The expansion is called Mists of Pandaria. From what little we know, when the Pandaren took off some 10,000 years ago, they used some of their ancient magics and all that to surround their island in mist, and help keep themselves hidden.
In 10,000 years, the odds of not stumbling on it way before now are astronomical, so the mists are serving their purpose.
Obviously, when considering that, something has finally happened to break the spell of these mists.
But what?
The Cataclysm.
Camero asked:
What's the correct single and plural for Pandaren? I'm so confused by random misuse and no obtainable clarification (it may have been said at Blizzcon, but I'd rather not go through all the 9 hours' footage looking)
"Pandaren" and "Pandaren," respectively.

Asking a question here so it's easy to find.
Q4Everyone:
I just started playing a Warrior and I am leveling him through dungeons. I'm learning new moves like Victory Rush and Revenge that require a certain thing to happen in order for the ability to activate. I'm finding my action bars are getting chaotic.
Is there a macro thing where I can put all of these situational abilities on one button that will just use the move that is activated?
Remember I'm talking about moves like Revenge, Victory Rush, Execute, etc.
ZeroDesu Oct 30th 2011 12:41PM
1) Hijacking someone else's thread just to get placed higher up is NOT COOL.
2) I don't think you can do situation buttons like that really. I suppose you could just make a macro that literally has a line for every single spell. That USED to work, since only usable abilities would get used, and you could prioritize...
But still, your best bet is to just macro a few different abilities to one button with Alt+ or Ctrl+ macros.
Imnick Oct 30th 2011 12:50PM
If you macro every ability so it's like:
#showtooltip shield bash
/cast revenge
/cast shield bash
it will always revenge first, but that requires a hell of a lot of macros
You'll probably also want to insert a script line to disable the error popup and reenable them afterwards, or you'll be spammed with "ability is not available"
But yeah pretty rude to hijack someone else's comment, you could have just made a thread on MMO champion or something!
Boobah Oct 30th 2011 1:01PM
@Imnick
I'm pretty sure they broke those; if it uses a GCD, even if the ability isn't available, it'll end the macro explicitly to stop that kind of shenanigan.
Otherwise every prot warrior would have a fall-through macro that reads something like:
/cast Shield Slam
/cast Revenge
/cast Devastate
techvoodooguy Oct 30th 2011 1:03PM
@Imnick: Macro's with situational abilities in them are not *supposed* to fall-through like that. I haven't tried with Revenge in particular, but I know that Rune Strike cannot be macro'd like that.
Boobah Oct 30th 2011 1:06PM
Although on reflection, your macro would work if it had the interrupt first:
#showtooltip Pummel
/cast Pummel
/cast Revenge
Imnick Oct 30th 2011 1:28PM
Really? It works on my mage for popping my engineer trinket, it just only casts one of the abilities and throws an error for the other saying "can't do that" because it's turned on the GCD
It's been a while since I played my DK or warrior though so I guess I might be out of date

well if your able to use revenge and execute your doing something wrong, revenge is only for tanks especially since it requires def stance and execute is only for DPS requiring battle and beserker so you cant even use these abilities simultaneously. You don't want to use a macro to put revenge and victory rush together because you will hardly be able to use victory rush in your rotation, actually you won't be able to use it unless your fighting multiple mobs or you have the talent impending victory in def tree. and if you put them both on the same macro you will only be able to use it when both abilities are up which is almost never.
Twill Oct 30th 2011 1:40PM
When I listed both I just wanted to clarify the type of move. I know I can't use both in the same stance.
Thanks for the help everyone. It's just annoying that three buttons on my keybinding aren't really usable except for explicit situations. Takes away from buttons I could bind to different charges.
Wait...
Is there a macro that uses charge, and if charge is on cooldown it uses intercept, and if that is on cooldown it goblin rocket jumps? :D
Killik Oct 30th 2011 1:42PM
@Twill For Victory Rush you can macro it to Charge or Intercept. The game allows this one to work because the two skills work at different ranges. Just pay attention to what you're targeting...
#showtooltip Charge
/cast Victory Rush
/cast Charge
Obviously you can have fun making a more elaborate macro, if you like.
ZeroDesu Oct 30th 2011 2:12PM
Aww, man... why'd everyone vote the vid into oblivion? I think Panda, Panda, Panda is a great sentiment!... okay, fine, I was just trying to PandaRoll everybody. Guess nobody liked it. Oh well. :/
Tosak Oct 30th 2011 2:21PM
You can't change a keybinding while in combat.. Trust me, you'll waste a long day trying to make it work :(
http://www.wowwiki.com/API_SetBinding (see the notice box at top)
You can flash an icon of the most fitting skill to use though. That's what I ended up making, and it's kinda usefull.. I guess.
EverythingRuned Oct 30th 2011 2:22PM
That's one of my pet peeves about the wow combat system.
If doing damage is so trivial... or... designed expressly for the purpose of keeping you occupied... such that there's no REAL decision-making progress, and anyone can write a basic program to simulate it, then why not let them?
Then again, I'm one of those people that wishes I could have a one-button dps rotation- I like devoting mental bandwidth to the unique fight mechanics, not the same repetitive series of if-then statements.
Killik Oct 30th 2011 2:48PM
I dunno - why not just write a script that'll play Bejewelled for you, so you can concentrate on the glinting, colourful shapes? ;)
Teaspoon Oct 30th 2011 9:04PM
I'm not a goblin so I don't have rocket jumps bundled in, but here's a charge macro that's very handy once you've got Warbringer:
#showtooltip
/castsequence reset=15 charge,intercept,charge
Charge has a 15s cooldown and intercept has a 30s cooldown, so we have a charge button that becomes an intercept button for the 15s that charge is on cooldown, then goes back to charge if you haven't used intercept in that 15s. If you use intercept, it goes back to charge. If you charge again within 15 seconds of intercept, the button will stay at charge because intercept still has more than 15s left on its cooldown so charge will be back up before intercept is. If you wait more than 15s after intercept before charging, it goes to intercept because it's going to come back up before the 15s charge cooldown finishes. Basically, it always picks whichever of charge and intercept will be off cooldown next, and prefers charge if they're both available.
Be aware that castsequence's reset timer works since the last time the button was pressed, not the last time the spell was successfully cast. If you hit the button while the ability's on cooldown or you're out of range, the countdown will go back to 15s and the clever timing described above will fall apart.

I am pretty curious about sudden activity in 4.3 with two "Insane" factions - Darkmoon Faire and Ravenholdt.
Will we be able to get DMF reputation from new DMF events, making old card grinding obsolete?
Will Ravenholdt turn-ins still work?
Deathknighty Oct 30th 2011 12:09PM
Now that I think of it... (spoilers for the legendary inc)
Fahrad, who I believe is the guy who accepts the lockboxes, turns out to be a black dragon in the thrall of the Old Gods and you kill him...
Could be problematic or they could just hand the turn in quest to someone else.
Thiron Oct 30th 2011 12:12PM
Yes, that's the reason I'm asking about Ravenholdt. I guess there will just be a new questgiver, but who knows...
Chris Oct 30th 2011 1:33PM
I leveled a rogue (who also does inscription for DMF) just to do Ravenholdt. I stopped doing DMF for now until I see what the new patch brings. I'd be fine keeping it "hard", I've done tons of grinding for reps, I'll continue to do it if need be. However, if it's going to be easier I'm not going to spend a lot of time grinding cards now.
