Breakfast Topic: What was your first armor set?

With the recent news that transmogrification will be making its way into the game come patch 4.3, I've found myself thinking back on the different sets of gear my main character has worn over the years. The first full set I collected was the mail armor from the Scarlet Monastery. I remember the boots dropping from one of the trash mobs the first time I cleared through the library with a PUG. I'm pretty sure it was the first item I had ever seen at the time that had a tooltip with the list of items in the set and the bonuses at the bottom. Once I won the roll, I knew I wouldn't rest until I had collected every piece!
After far too many Scarlet Monastery runs (and after my character had leveled too high to get much experience from running the dungeons), I finally completed the set. The sense of accomplishment was satisfying as I equipped the last piece and admired how sharp I looked -- especially compared to the dull, mismatched quest greens I had been wearing before. Lately I have been reliving the excitement (and frustration) I experienced back then because I can't help but attempt to pick up the armor set once again for use with transmogrification.
What was your first armor set? Did you keep it, or will you too recollect it for transmogrification?

I remember spending a week getting the mats and all the stuff to make a set of the Silvered Bronze for my warrior. I was such a badass.

and you've just given me Mithril Order flashbacks. Thanks.

The Dungeon 1 Devout Set for my priest
I remembered how lucky I was that one raid group decided to do Father Flame in UBRS in Vanilla and the helm gloves (I think) dropped off him that time. No other group i did then ever did Father Flame thereafter

Ditto, Devout.
Had to run Scarlet Strath 26 times for the Gloves to drop. Not even joking. My group and I got really fast at clearing that dungeon haha.

I still remember assembling my first real set, which was the Stormshroud set for my rogue. It was the height of style back then, pre-Dungeon Set 1.

Stormshroud set, absolutely. I vividly remember grinding the LW patterns in old Azshara and was soo glad when I had it complete. Didn't look so good on a troll, though.
There was another leather set I can't remember the name of anymore. It was sort of whitish and involved skinning thousands of wintersaber tigers in Winterspring to get the leather for it.
Another roguish leather set, the one I still have and will wear when mogging goes live, is the Cadaverous set from Scholomance. It took me about a week in that instance alone until the Barov clan handed me over the missing parts.

on the cadaverous note; ive been collecting silver-thread pieces off the AH it's the same graphic as cadaverous but it's cloth. prolly put both my mage and spriest in it. i really like casters in pants.

Casters should *only* be in pants, we need pockets to stuff our wands into.
That, plus I enjoy knowing my mage still has all his appendages.

It wasn't my first armor set, but I have very fond memories of the Stormshroud set. At the time I only had one Horde character, a troll rogue. Without a guild or support network on that side fo the faction divide, and with a low Horde population on my server, I was pretty much on my own as far as getting gear once I hit 60. I looked into my options and discovered the Stormshroud set. My rogue was already a leatherworker, so it was a matter of farming the patterns and mats. It took a long time but I finally got it all, and was so proud! I farmed Andorhal for Argent Dawn rep and gold in it, enjoying the Static Cling of Doom proc (what do you mean that's not the real name?)
I don't play that toon all that much these days but I still proudly have the full set in the bank and will probably use it for transmog purposes once 4.3 hits. :)

Lightforge, ftw!

Absolutely hated getting the breastplate though. I do not have found memories of that at all. I believe the droprate (for me) was comparable to the Blackblade of Shahram, both dropped once in all my runs during Classic.

This!!!!!!!!!

My first full set was Teir 7 on my hunter. Although I played in BC, it was towards the half-way point of that expansion when I started and it took me months and months to get a toon all the way to cap, So my first raiding was in lvl80 Naxx. Was so happy when I finally had a completed look.
On a side note, I was looking at the picture and thinking - man, I would really like to get my Paladin that set, pity it's mail for Transmog....but then I remembered that SM is one of the dungeons that's getting redone, so we might have a level 90 Scarlet Monastary set....but this time done in Plate instead of mail. :)

the dungeon 1 set: magisters, and then the upgraded sorcerer's. that was quite an effort and I didn't even get it all until far into BC. but I still have my sorcerer's in the bank so I can make myself look like shade of aran whenever i want.

My very first set was full Imperial Plate collection. I spent many and many days just farming materials for recipes and the craft itself.
Brouck Nov 2nd 2011 4:16PM
I bought every piece of this set from the AH for my Pally when I was first learning how to play.
StClair Nov 2nd 2011 5:04PM
@Brouck: I'm sure you made some Armorsmith very happy. :)
Udderpowered Nov 2nd 2011 8:37AM
It didn't have set bonuses or anything, but my first matching set was the Heavy Scorpid stuff from leatherworking. I spent hours grinding wastewanders for the recipes, then scorpids for scales. It looked terrible, but I was proud!

Dungeon set 1 for my huntard (yes, huntard, first toon back in vanilla before BWL even came out)
Eli Nov 2nd 2011 8:41AM
My first set was the Stalker's Garb (I think it was called) that you collected from reputation with the Burning Crusade Factions. As much as I liked it back then (I was a BC baby), I definitely wouldn't transmog it now - that's what I farmed the hunter tier 5 and the black bow of the betrayer for :D or maybe the Skyfire Hawk-Bow...
And before blizzcon Hellreaver was going to be part of my transmog set, but goodbye stat sticks :(
