The Queue: Thud Butt

If you don't know and love Thud Butt, I'm ashamed of you.
Luotian asked:
Will Illidan come back as a good guy or a bad guy? Because, honestly, he never seemed all that BAD to me. Forced into a corner, more often than not. That corner gone, could he become one of the super cool good guys?
Illidan may not have been purely bad, but he's never been one of the good guys, either. He may have been aligned against our enemies, but Illidan was disastrously reckless and power-hungry. The enemy of my enemy is my friend most certainly does not apply -- the guy was going to shatter Azeroth right in half to get rid of the Lich King. Sure, getting rid of the Lich King is great, but holy crap, dude. Don't destroy the whole planet in the process!
Then we go to Outland. Sure, he isn't aligned with the Burning Legion. He's not Kil'jaeden's pawn anymore. The problem is ... he's building up a demonic host of his own, enslaving Draenor's native peoples, destroying what remains of the planet to do it. I wouldn't call that good.
He's very much a bad guy -- he's just a bad guy who isn't aligned with some of the other bad guys. If Blizzard brings Illidan back, I don't expect him to be a hero. Anti-hero, at best.

What good WoW jokes have you heard/made/stumbled upon?
You.*
Saikoujin asked:
Would moose (mooses?) even fit in with the style of the game? I can't imagine galloping on a moose, although secretly, it makes me giggle inside.
But mooses (moose?) aside, what are some possible new, Asian themed mounts we could see in MoP?
Would a moose mount fit the style of the game? We ride smiling turtles, polar bears with goggles, rockets decorated with pink hearts, and Disney camels. That's my answer.
As for Asian-themed mounts, I expect we'll see many of the same animals we already have but stylized and equipped differently. China has horses, camels, bears, and all of those things we already have in the game. Now mounts might be yaks or the ibex. The talbuks from Outland are pretty ibexy, though. Maybe we'll get a Baiji water mount, though the chances of that are slim with no new Vashj'ir.
The Pandaren racial mount will obviously mimic Thud Butt from Hook.
Gourd asked:
Will WoW Insider be doing any other meetups throughout the year? I never get to go to BlizzCon but the parties look great.
Let me put a big ol' disclaimer here: Anything discussed here regarding meetups has not been confirmed, I'm just jamming on ideas. Nothing has been decided or scheduled, so don't make any travel plans or hold us to any of this.
We have two meetup ideas right now that are purely in the "let's bring it up from time to time over instant messages" phase. Neither of them are anywhere near the scale of our BlizzCon party, because that's something we can only pull off once a year and there is no other major event during the year that could support something like that.
Meetup idea numero uno is PAX East. We have a few staffers that are local to the area, and it wouldn't be too hard to find a bar (or some other venue) that is nerd-friendly during the event. I'm sure we can scrounge up a few prizes for it.
Meetup idea nummer zwei is a meet in the midwest, either in Chicago or Milwaukee. I've mentioned a midwest meet a few times before (and I'm sure those of you who are local are mighty tired of hearing me talking about it and not follow through), but some of the staff talked about it at BlizzCon and it might be something we can actually do. If we held it in Milwaukee, the staff seemed pretty geeked about holding it at the Safe House, which would be just awesome. If Chicago ... who knows?
*Ice burn.

Show the South some love with the meetups! Seriously, come to Texas. Just not during the summer.
ravyncat Nov 2nd 2011 11:10AM
I second the vote for Texas. Come visit Austin!
foxcd1 Nov 2nd 2011 11:15AM
I concur. Austin would be a great place for a meetup. It's not possible to have a bad time in there.
Luotian Nov 2nd 2011 11:15AM
Well, if we're going to play that game, how about somewhere in the West that isn't Cali? These states are huge out here, and getting to California from Utah is more than a bit of a pain. Colorado could be fun, though. Or, as fun as any of these wide-open spaces states gets.

I'm pretty sure there are Blizzard offices in Austin too. It's one of the big "video game" cities. Austin, Montreal and Southern Cal.
Cbeefman Nov 2nd 2011 11:49AM
lets try further south. Come to me in Jamaica :)
Tyr Nov 2nd 2011 11:43AM
Totally agree- During SXSW interactive festival would be a great time. And yeah, Blizz has an office here, along with EA/Origins, Trion, and several others.

Or Louisiana! we are next door to Texas and we have better food!

How about European meet-up for EU writers and readers?
Kunikenwad! Nov 2nd 2011 12:22PM
Clearly, the greatest state in the union is Kentucky, so come on down, ya'll hear! Plus, it's autumn so all of our trees are turning at the same time; it's gutwrenchingly beautiful.

They need to come North! We need a Canadian meetup! Aren't there a couple of Canadians on the WoW Insider team? Let's make it happen!
emberdione Nov 2nd 2011 1:20PM
There is always GDC Online in Austin, but it *just* happened.
Also the "Blizzard Offices" in Austin are just their customer support stuff, not any devs.

Come join us at Dragon*Con in Atlanta, Georgia. Its every Labor Day weekend, and we usually average around 40-50k attendees. We've got a whole WoW track, costume contests, the whole nine yards.
Eddy Nov 2nd 2011 2:25PM
I'm going to second the Dragon*Con vote, just 'cause, well, wow. That con is a party where the party doesn't stop.
And no love for Pax proper?
AudreyR Nov 2nd 2011 6:28PM
Or Arkansas! We have Starbucks now! And electricity!
Kac Nov 3rd 2011 10:15AM
they should come to Florida!
John Nov 2nd 2011 11:05AM
Is that Re-run?
"hey hey hey!"
MattKrotzer Nov 2nd 2011 1:00PM
That reference might be a bit too old for the room.
Adam Nov 2nd 2011 1:26PM
Thanks for making me feel old Matt. Sigh
bountyhunterah Nov 2nd 2011 1:47PM
isn't 'hey, hey, hey!' a fat Albert reference?
just sayin
