The only thing that concerns me is the question, "will I still be able to easily solo old content if they nerf stats?"

Given he says in the article that it would be an across the board thing for all mobs' and bosses' health and damage, then yes. The percentages would remain the same while the numbers get slashed--that's what makes it a challenge to implement, besides possible backlash from people who just like seeing tons of zeroes.

Not exactly, because these solutions plan on curbing things from the level 60-85 range. This would make 60 raids significantly harder than they are now although all other raids would probably not be any more difficult.
It sounds like the level squish method COULD lead to some odd cases of BC raid items suddenly being comparable with Wrath raid items, depending on exactly how they squish things; this won't affect the majority of players that don't dip into level-appropriate raid content when leveling. It could actually make things interesting - imagine getting a sunwell carry at level 70, and using that gear all the way to level 85 :)

not quite lyn.If the game scaled in a linear way than your assertion would be correct, the squish in that case is simply lowering the slope of the line. But as you can see from the graph and the text the game is scaling in a exponential way. by changing the exponent you decrease the relative distance between any two points on the curve. If you did the squish today. you would notice no difference in FL in your current gear BUT if you decided to go solo kara for that T5 you have been wanting you would get crushed. currently you are MUCH MUCH more powerful than Attumen. After the squish Attumen would be a little less powerful and you would be MUCH MUCH less powerful. The higher level the mob/player, the greater the "nerf" would be. Hogger will lose .0001% health but Ranoros(FL) will lose 60% health.Make sense?

Certainly not as easily as you do now. Especially since base stats would also scale back to match the decrease in gear stats; it doesn't do much good to drop your gear's stamina to BC levels if you still gain 20k health from dinging 85.

@matt I do see that, and I think they could do even more to level out the curve. But, that power curve at the end of the second graph is still steeper than anything that came before it--Cata's still extremely spiky and higher than anything else on that graph, even post-squish (granted, it's all ideas, not actuality, and really simplified). There's still a steeper power curve for Cata than in any of the previous expacs, which really doesn't change the current situation; it looks like people who level cap at BC or Wrath will have a harder time soloing old content. The people at current endgame are still way more powerful.I would hope that a more linear equation was being worked out, and that's why they don't simply implement this or anything like it; it's different from the nerfs they've done previously. It's still being decided and worked out because, I think, of that linear issue and how it would affect old school runs. They want people in those raids, if for no other reason than to grab Transmog gear. If they implement a straight "squish" like the simplified graph shows, that can't happen. But the text I pointed out in GC's post shows they are actually looking at how to balance everything in game around it to work, not just straight up chopping the numbers down.
