Linear increases only work when the numbers are still small. In Vanilla, going from 20 to 21 was a 4.7% increase. In BC, going from 50 to 51 was a 1.9% increase. In Wrath, going from 100 to 101 was a 0.9% increase.This is what Ghostcrawler is talking about in the blog post:"Such negligible increases can drive players to do some weird things, such as skipping over tiers of gear or entire levels of content. This is particularly relevant when we’re talking about a new expansion. We don’t want level-85 players to have a reasonable shot at level-90 dungeons and raids (or PvP opponents) just because that content is balanced for gear that isn’t much better than what the level-85 players have."Why upgrade your Cata raiding gear to MoP dungeon (or even raiding) gear when the difference isn't noticeable?
