How much is a Guardian Cub worth?

Thankfully, this lack of information was a bug that has been resolved:
I think it has already been stated, but it should be up and running now, and I see both ahspy and undermine journal are populating with guardian cub stats.
If you're interested to see what a Guardian Cub is selling for on your server, the website AH Spy has set up a convenient Guardian Cub pricing page showing the market value of the pet on each server, both US and EU. As you can see, prices vary wildly. The Cub is as cheap as 5,000 gold on some servers and as expensive as 100,000 gold on others. For the most part, though, a Guardian Cub can be had for just under 10,000 gold.

15k on my server and only 4 people are selling. Seems like no one in my server reads wow news, so they have a nice monopoly and I envy them very much :((

I think you're going to see them flood some servers, with the result being nearly worthless there, and rare on others.
But at the end of the day,
their value is what they will be BOUGHT FOR,
NOT
what people LIST THEM FOR.
- Any statements about their value are utterly meaningless for at least the next month. We just don't yet have enough buyers for it to be quantifiable.
All we have now are pipe-dreamers listing them for what they want for them, which is not a value, but an arbitrary price.
To get value, we need to see how the demand side shapes out, and not just the supply side.

Exactly the reason I am going to be scanning for about a month as the price stabilizes, after that happens. . Then we can talk.

Considering the "going rate" on illicit pixels, at the moment, I'd say, if you can get them for 5500g or less, you're getting a deal. If they're more expensive than that, you should probably just buy it.
One of the servers I have characters on had half a dozen up for

I bought mine for 3250g, Emerald Dream US (Aliance)
Goarther Nov 4th 2011 3:12PM
Im hoping the price drops this weekend from everyone flooding the market and I can grab one for between 5-7k.
Necromann Nov 4th 2011 3:12PM
They are going for 7000-10000 gold on my server. I might just buy one from the AH instead of from the pet store.

i sold mine day 1 for 10k. the dollar per thousand seems like a sweet spot. it took a while to sell but i am quite happy about this. I work a lot so when i play i mostly run dungeons so its harder for me to make gold so this was a great help and got me started on a fund for leveling a monk and getting ready on my main for MOP whenever that drops.

So far, 0 sellers on Chromaggus/alliance. Some times, it is great to be "pitifully small".
Artificial Nov 4th 2011 3:49PM
Not sure how that counts as great. If you don't want one, don't buy one, but there's nothing good about being denied the option (merely nothing bad if you don't want it).

Hey now...it's great if you're a hipster. :P

By the same token, Susanexpress only targets us every now and again.
There was one memorable day when I logged on early in the morning to find 4 people in Stormwind, two of whom were spam-bots.
Emophia Nov 4th 2011 5:43PM
Chromaggus EU?
Because alliance is dead on that server, dead.
So no surprise.
Shade Nov 4th 2011 3:24PM
how many smurfberries is the life of each smurf worth?
I also think it would've been interesting to see where prices stabilized across servers and factions before letting them track on API. Do I believe fmm, or is he just trying to get me to cut my prices? Is Necromann's economy similar enough to mine that I can trust his prices? Imperfect information can create very interesting results.
fmm Nov 4th 2011 3:50PM
In ED the cheapest is 4873g right now, you can see the evolution in time here http://theunderminejournal.com/item.php?realm=A-Emerald%20Dream&item=72068

The point wasn't that I was actually calling you out. The point was to ask the question "what if I had no way to verify what people are telling me?" Peoples' behavior changes when they have no proof, or failing that even a personal guarantee, of truthfulness.
jfofla Nov 4th 2011 3:31PM
To the people predicting 500g, it ain't happening.
The Kitty Standard is around 10k, and will stay there.
Eyhk Nov 4th 2011 3:49PM
It's already dropped to 5k on my server, but I'm sure the AH players will soon buy them up and relist them higher.
Eyhk Nov 4th 2011 3:48PM
It seems that with enough gold, it would be quite easy to dominate the market through capping the price of these by buying out and relisting higher. Virtual gold, especially in the WoW economy for many gold-capped players, is limitless and low risk, real US dollars is very high risk with a strict limit in the amount of real money people are willing to spend.
Eyhk Nov 4th 2011 3:58PM
What I'm guessing will happen is that the AH players will decide on certain thresholds and buy out anything below a certain price, relist at a high price, and if competition comes in, simply out price them all the way down to the bottom limit, where they buy out again.
My prediction ***after the market stabilizes***:
The actual price of the Guardian cub for AH buyers will fluctuate from 6k to 10k, but the actual amount of gold a Blizzard Store buyer will get for his $10 will be around 5k due to the AH players constantly undercutting them until the bottom limit where they finally get bought out (by the AH players) to be relisted.
