This morning, I hopped onto the public test realm and hit up the brand new Darkmoon Faire island coming in Patch 4.3: Hour of Twilight. The Darkmoon island will be available to players for one week at the top of every month, with portals to the island in major cities and in the abandoned sites that the Darkmoon Faire operates in, Elwynn Forest and Mulgore.
Once through the portal, you are free to roam the Faire to play all-new games, win tickets, complete profession quests that award skill points, and complete quests for reputation with the Darkmoon Faire. Old fan-favorite characters like Asric and Jadaar even make an appearance. Check out the video above for a romp through the all-new Darkmoon island. Brace yourselves for what could be some of most exciting updates to the game recently with patch 4.3. Review the official patch notes, and then dig into what's ahead: new item storage options, cross-realm raiding, cosmetic armor skinning and your chance to battle the mighty Deathwing -- from astride his back!
I gave up on those cannons in the "old" Faire. I don't know how many times I landed in the circle and it said I "missed". All I can figure is you have to land dead-center.
I'm not very fond of this new faire. It looks great tough i liked the idea of the faire appearing and dissapearing in lush the green fields of Elwynn/Mulgore. The atmosphere is way too dark.
"The Darkmoon island will be available to players for one week at the top of every month, with portals to the island in major cities and in the abandoned sites that the Darkmoon Faire operates in, Elwynn Forest and Mulgore, respectively."
Don't forget the Faire's appearance in Terokkar outside Shattrath, where ETC would perform too. Oh Terokkar, the forgotten Darkmoon venue.
Managed to glimpse around the Faire this morning despite my cooling fan crapping out on me, and I am so, so excited to have this on live realms. The games are fun, the atmosphere is great, and the profession quests are awesome for leveling.
The best part for me was finding Dungeon Set 1 for transmog on a vendor (DKs can also purchase the green and blue starter sets in Acherus for super cheap, btw). You can also get some cool toys from the trading card game (foam swords and tiger spring toys!), and you can also buy heirlooms with prize tickets.
Like Mat said, Blizzard has really outdone themselves. The new Faire is just fantastic.

Is it just me, or was the original video of this article "Kitten Mittens" from It's Always Sunny?

Asric and Jadaar yesssssssssssssssssss
dpoyesac Nov 6th 2011 4:40PM
I'm on the PTR, standing in the exact same spot shown in the video, and no Asric or Jadaar...
Maybe they are on a timer or there's an event planned, but right now they are still MIA.

People will complain about anything.

Wow! By insulting anything that is new and popular, I somehow feel smarter and mysterious.

VioletArrows Nov 6th 2011 5:14PM
Read the article again, slowly this time. :p
ldene Nov 6th 2011 5:46PM
@violet, yeah that helped...... it was the location in the cities i was looking for, rather than flying to mulgore.....
