Patch 4.3 PTR: Replica armor, heirlooms, and death knight starting gear

The Darkmoon Faire is offering old sets as promised! Vendors Barum and Baruma currently sell replica armor -- that's armor with old models but no stats. For now, only Dungeon Set 1 and Dungeon Set 2 models are available to choose from, but perhaps we'll see other models added to the vendors' inventory over time.
There's a bonus to that replica armor: It's not restricted by class. Though Dungeon Set 1 was never restricted, Dungeon Set 2 originally could only be obtained on a per-class basis. That's not all, however. Right next to the replica armor vendors is an heirloom vendor who sells all heirloom items for Darkmoon Tickets. Heirlooms that were only previously available through points are now available for playing games and racking up tickets at the Darkmoon Faire.
And if that weren't cool enough -- hey death knights, remember how you wanted to get your hands on your old starter gear sets? If you hit Acherus on the 4.3 PTR server, Quartermaster Ozorg has all death knight starting armor sets and weapons available for purchase. For those who are not death knights -- no, you cannot purchase the death knight starter gear. It's for death knights, not for you!
Check out the gallery for the full array of items on the heirloom, replica armor, and Ebon Hold vendors.
Brace yourselves for what could be some of most exciting updates to the game recently with patch 4.3. Review the official patch notes, and then dig into what's ahead: new item storage options, cross-realm raiding, cosmetic armor skinning and your chance to battle the mighty Deathwing -- from astride his back!

Anyone have a good resource for seeing what these armour sets look like? Thanks!
Vitos Nov 6th 2011 5:48PM
mmo-champion has good pictures of everything (except the DK stuff and heirlooms).
Hih Nov 6th 2011 5:51PM
They're intended to look exactly like the originals, only statless. So if you didn't know what they already looked like, you could check out wowhead's model viewer. wowpedia likely has screenshots of the set too.

These are all dungeon set one, and you can check out this old guide on obtaining dungeon sets to see what they look like. :) http://wow.joystiq.com/2010/09/10/armor-set-collecting-dungeon-set-one/

Thanks all. :) Can you tell I didn't start playing until BC? ;)

Thorie Nov 7th 2011 7:56AM
Blood elves are people too.

Question might sound dumb but will dark moon faire be a everyday thing or how it is already

First week of the month; not every day.

From the DK part of the lists I see "Massacre Sword". I originally thought this was the sword you started with and first Runeforge, but then I saw *that* sword later on near the end after the replica of the sword you get from doing the final DK starter quests. I looked it up on Wowhead, but it appears to just be a green random drop. Whats the story there?
Kylenne Nov 6th 2011 6:21PM
This "Massacre Sword" was part of the original DK starter kit early on in the WotLK beta (as in, you got it with the Acherus greens). Later on in the beta it was taken out, presumably when they introduced the concept of actually having to quest for your first runeblade, thus the Runed Soulblade.

None of the dungeon set one armor items were ever restricted by class -- just by armor type. So you can pick whatever one you'd like! They look exactly like the original dungeon set one items.

I play my DK once every other month or so, and even I'm happy at that news.

The DK starting gear has rings, necklaces, and relics... >.>
I realize they were part of the starting gear, but it's not like they show up on gear. Seems kinda... pointless to include those on the vendor. Unless this is Blizzard's way of subtly letting everyone know that now rings, necklaces, and relics will now show up as gear!
Probably not.
Anyway, arg! Heirloom gear, but it's all old heirloom gear! I thought the legs were supposed to finally be making their appearance with the DMF. Oh well...
icepyro Nov 6th 2011 6:24PM
The relics particularly sound silly to me since they will not even be equipped after 5.0 hits...
Kylenne Nov 6th 2011 6:25PM
My DK still has Valanar and Keleseth's rings sitting in his bank. I have an inexplicable soft spot for them both, but I tend to develop weird attachments to random characters like that. It's the RP nerd in me I guess.
I'd assume they put that stuff on these vendors for people who similarly love things like that, but were forced to delete/vendor them on account on needing bank space for useful things. Void Storage means sentimentalist pack rats just got a new lease on life.
Nadia Nov 6th 2011 6:02PM
Isn't Dungeon Set 2 available from the vendor on the right of Barum (it's a female Dwarf)? It's the vendor to the left that has the heirlooms (the elf)...
Anne Stickney Nov 6th 2011 6:07PM
I did not see another vendor, but I'll give it a look now -- the booth was crammed ridiculously full, which made it even harder to see in there. XD

I found her! Under a pile of EVERYONE ON THE PTR. Will update gallery and post, thank you for the note!
