Two Bosses Enter: Announcing the exhibition season

Last season ended with an epic victory by gun-toting Undead maniac Lord Godfrey's firing a bullet through readers' hearts and securing a slick victory over all who challenged him. With patch 4.3 on the horizon, we'll have a bunch of new dungeon and raid bosses to add to the third season of Two Bosses Enter. Until then, I've got a fun series of exhibition matches lined up for readers while we wait for the patch to drop and let players have some time with the new bosses before they enter the ring.
Exhibition season one will pit faction leader against faction leader with a twist. You see, these faction leaders aren't coming from the Horde or the Alliance. No, readers, these faction leaders are from the secondary and tertiary factions. Hit the jump to hear Tirion, our faithful Two Bosses Enter benefactor and facilitator, announce this exhibition season's lineup.
As a reminder, here are the rules of the WoW Insider Two Bosses Enter ring:
Tirion Fordring cordially invites you to the Argent Tournament for a mid-season series of exhibition matches between high-ranking leaders and representatives of the various factions, organizations, tribes, clans, groups, and consortiums on Azeroth and beyond. Please exercise caution when traveling to the Argent Tournament grounds, still located on the northern cliff face of the frozen wasteland of the Icecrown glacier. The Kirin Tor mages of Dalaran shall open portals on a first-come, first-served reservation basis.
While attending the tournament, please be aware that the tournament grounds and the stadium itself are considered a neutral place, and factional conflicts will not be tolerated. Any infractions will be met with swift ejection from the tournament and subsequent disqualification.
Thank you for your support, participation, and patronage of the Argent Tournament.
Tirion Fordring
The rules of the ring
- The WoW Insider Ring is considered neutral territory, where both combatants are able to access their usual encounter mechanics and abilities. If you can't visualize it inside the squared circle, visualize it someplace else -- but you must take into consideration all of each bosses' abilities and mechanics.
- Assume that each opponent is intelligent and capable of strategic thinking.
- All of the competitors' abilities, including crowd control and other effects to which bosses are usually immune, work on their opponents (with apologies to considerations of lore on this point).
- Assume that the opponents share similar levels, health pools, and comparative overall damage output.
- Don't get caught up in gameplay mechanics and what actual players might do in each encounter.
- Don't neglect style, story, and scale. Everything is a factor; seeking balance is your goal as a spectator and judge.
For this exhibition season, there will be a total of eight participants from all different factions in World of Warcraft and the expansions. Here are your combatants for the first exhibition season of Two Bosses Enter:
- Tae'thelan Bloodwatcher, The Reliquary
- Brann Bronzebeard, The Explorer's League
- Ishanah, The Aldor
- Voren'thal, The Scryers
- Archmage Aethas Sunreaver, The Sunreavers
- Vereesa Windrunner, The Silver Covenant
- Roanauk Icemist, The Taunka
- Yorg Stormheart, The Frostborn
Some of these matchups hide deep-seated hatreds between two factions. Many Alliance players, for instance, have no idea who Tae'thelan Bloodwatcher is, but you soon will have a newfound fire in your belly against the devious Reliquary. Later on down the road, we will pit Sunreaver versus Windrunner in an epic fight that will finally put an end to all of that Dalaran squabbling from the last expansion. And which among you would not like to see a showdown between the leader of the Aldor priests, Ishanah, face off against the Blood Elf defector Voren'thal, newcomer to the Light and A'dal's blessings? Rev up those engines and get excited, readers. It's time for some awesome matchups.

As usual, we heavily encourage readers to voice their opinions about each matchup in the comments below. Many readers enjoy writing their own fiction for how each match would play out, which can be included in the following week's post about the match's outcome. Some awesome descriptions and retellings have come out of the comments, and you guys totally sway the vote with great stories. So please, come join in on the fun and write your own outcomes to the fights as they happen.
Voting
A poll will be active on the current week's match up post where readers will select who they think should win the fight. After the poll closes, the combatant with the most votes moves on to the next round of the tournament. Two Bosses Enter is single elimination, so once your favorite hero is out, he's out for good. We've had some amazingly close calls in the past season, especially the Corborus versus Jan'alai match and the incredible upset in the Vanessa VanCleef versus Zanzil fight. Check out those links and tell me your vote doesn't count.
See you guys next week with round 1 of the Two Bosses Enter exhibition season.

Brann automatically wins because there is nothing on Azeroth that is capable of killing him.
Just look at the Ulduar trailer. He didn't kill any of the bosses, but he managed to walk right in the front door and explore enough of the raid by himself to know what the deal was, including that Yogg-Saron was the Old God imprisoned within.
That's just one example, and doesn't include the multitude of other things he does that should have killed him but doesn't.
Kunikenwad! Nov 7th 2011 3:13PM
We dwarves are made of sterner stuff than other folk. 'Tis our curse, really.
Daedalus Nov 7th 2011 3:25PM
Nah. My guess is, Brann just gets the entire audience killed, then asks some passing players to fight whoever he's facing while he stands on the sidelines making their lives more difficult.
GhostWhoWalks Nov 7th 2011 4:01PM
I must respectfully disagree with 3 words: Halls of Stone.
If I had a nickel for every time Brann ran ahead of us and got himself killed on one of those steel golems...
Mathew McCurley Nov 7th 2011 4:06PM
You guys have a lot of nostalgia for Brann that I hope to utterly ruin when I expose what a jerk he is in his match up. Post all of your Brann horror stories here for a thorough whipping of this little fool.
DeathPaladin Nov 7th 2011 4:18PM
I never said Brann wasn't a jerk. Quite the opposite. Immortal people are the biggest jerks in the universe. Being unkillable means that you will never suffer any consequences for your actions more severe than embarrassment.
Also, I contend that he doesn't get killed by the golems in Halls of Stone. He's just a massive troll. And not the "trolls be flippin' out mon" kind of troll.
Silversol Nov 8th 2011 1:32AM
Brann died plenty of times in Halls of Stone. Because that's what happens when you pull before the tank.
Sarabande Nov 8th 2011 6:13AM
Whomever Brann is fighting, he'll just go off, open up some door really should, some big-bad horror comes out, Brann makes some remark showing his surprise, and before his opponent knows what's going on, the big-bad attacks, Brann runs off and opponent dies. :D
Sarabande Nov 8th 2011 6:57AM
OOOPS, I mean a door he SHOULDN'T. Oh please, add an EDIT button to comments system. :P
anuillae Nov 7th 2011 3:11PM
I'm placing my bets on Brann Bronzebeard now.
Jcook264 Nov 7th 2011 3:22PM
I would like to see a "Two Factions Enter" death match, like The Steamweedle Cartel vs. The Consortium.
donz Nov 7th 2011 3:45PM
Brann Bronzebeard seems like a shoe-in - he's the only one anybody's heard of!
That is until you see the last contest and realize that Brann is the lesser Bronzebeard in this competition.
donz Nov 7th 2011 3:47PM
last *contestant
seriously, how is it that after so many years this place still doesnt have an edit button?
kodakmsr99 Nov 7th 2011 6:54PM
Not true. Everyone should at least know who Vareesa WINDRUNNER is. You might know her sister, Sylvanas WINDRUNNER. You know, some of the best archers ever. Plus if Vareesa got beat i think her husband, Rhonin, would nuke the place.
If you get a chance to read "Day of the Dragon", you will get a better appreciation for her battle prowess. or should i say battle PROness =P

Put Alex back in charge and he cam come in as a wildcard. ANYTHING CAN HAPPEN!
Amaxe Nov 7th 2011 4:07PM
I nominate Tirion Fordring for a contestant... mainly because most of the playerbase would love to slap him around asking "WTF were you thinking setting up a jousting tournament to begin with when there is no way in hell we were ever going to defeat Arthas by jousting..."
DeathPaladin Nov 7th 2011 4:31PM
It becomes even more sinister when you realize that it wasn't just jousting. When you enter the Colosseum, it's no longer playing around. In Trial of the Champion, 18 people die unless you subscribe to the Pokemon "Magikarp fainted!" deal.
Then it gets really bad in Trial of the Crusader, where a group of soldiers who are high on the list of people being sent into the final assault get thrown in the ring with wild animals and demons who are out for blood before being forced to fight a similar group from the other faction to the death over a squabble between high ranking members of the audience.
My Death Knight's attitude towards it is "Organizing a blood sport, forcing potential recruits to fight for their lives in order to weed out those too weak to join you on your Crusade? Arthas would be proud of you, Tirion." Right before he goes and kills other contestants in the ring, because the fact that they were stupid enough to volunteer for such a blood sport means they would never make it in Icecrown Citadel.
Morrigan approves +5
Amaxe Nov 7th 2011 8:54PM
That's actually a very fascinating approach for RP.
Worth an upvote in my eyes
themark0fevil Nov 8th 2011 6:07AM
Tirion would forget to bubble for 12 minutes. By then, it's over, I'm sure.
Ilmyrn Nov 7th 2011 4:28PM
Wait, Belloc Brightblade isn't the leader of the Reliquary?
Huh.
