BlizzCon 2011 got an exclusive lil' Thrall figure courtesy of Mega Bloks, and if you didn't make it to the con, then you might not ever get this particular mini-World-Shaman -- that is, of course, unless you get one from WoW Insider! We happen to have five Thrall figures to give away to lucky readers. For a chance to win, all you have to do is comment on this post by Friday, Nov. 11 at 11:59 p.m. PST.
There are a few rules, of course! You can only enter once, and make sure you have a valid email address attached to your profile, since that's how we'll get hold of you if you win. Only legal residents of the 50 United States and Canada (
excluding Quebec) can enter, and you have to be 18 years of age or older. See the
complete official rules for details.

Cannot upvote enough. I'm saddened by this partnership with the far inferior Mega Blok company... but I'd still like this post counted as an entry.

The figure is cool and well done. It's a nice collectable and can I have one please? Thank you!
Me.

I'd rather have the giant one shown at Blizzcon, but I suppose that this one will do :P
Boz Nov 8th 2011 10:51AM
Have you gone to a store and bought Legos at retail, lately? It makes my wallet cry.
The Dewd Nov 8th 2011 12:05PM
@Boz - My wife won't let me go to the LEGO store unaccompanied. Or anywhere that sells cheese. Or chocolate. Fortunately she hasn't cut me off from WoW.

Just as Marvel comics are finally coming to Lego next year, I hope that Blizzard will follow their lead and also make the transition to Lego.
That being said, my love of Thrall and Doctor Who have gotten me to do crazy things like buy Lego knockoffs :)

I remember playing with Duplo as well when I was too small for Lego. :D

I realize the Lego vs Megablok debate is silly to those who didn't grow up with Legos. For those of us however who were members of the Lego Club from an early age, it's a very legitimate argument.
You can say they are just pieces of plastic, but consider that statement for a moment. Go back to your childhood and think of something you enjoyed, by yourself or with friends and family and how much that hobby affected how you turned out. For me Lego was a very real escape, into a land of wonder and adventure. Legos were quite literally the building blocks of my creative development.
Not to mention the fact that Lego isn't just a brand, it is the standard by which many toy companies compare themselves. During the early 80s to early 90s no other building block company could even compare with the diversity of pieces and imagination presented by the developers. When I think of innovation, I don't think of Steve Jobs, I think of Kirk Christiansen and his family who founded the company.

Yey!

My entire childhood was composed of Lego's. I am positive that if I still had them, or could afford to buy more, I'd STILL be "playing" with them....and I'm 35 years old.
Nevertheless, Thrall is my warchief forever! I'd still love to win...

I'm saddened by Blizzard's decision to partner with this inferior, rip-off company, and I do NOT want this comment to count as an entry. I want to stop hearing about mega bloks + blizzard/wow completely >< Lego 4 lyfe.
SamLowry Nov 8th 2011 6:01PM
Agreed, Legos are better.
brain314 Nov 8th 2011 7:49PM
@Luke
Invalid argument. I grew up with Legos too, but I am not blinded by fanaticism that I can't appreciate a different product. Lego makes superior building blocks. They also make a very iconic figure that everyone loves. However, Mega Bloks makes superior figures. Especially regarding this giveaway, I'd much rather get a Mega Bloks Thrall than a Lego Thrall. Mega Bloks building blocks still aren't perfect, but it's still better than they were 20 years ago (mostly by copying Lego designs better).

@brain
I would agree with you, regarding my comment being an invalid if my point was to convince Blizzard to change from Mega Blok to Lego. The fact is Lego is wanting to move away from IPs and focus on their own development so that argument is moot.
My point is simply that there is a lot of discussion that is dismissive of the topic all together. I'm merely suggesting that there are good reasons why people actually care about the matter. It's a little late now to call for any changes to what's already been done.
