Im confused... does this mean that hunters can put on a aesthetic weapon... or do we have to take off our bow? I like seeing BOTH my ranged AND my physical weapon! GAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!!

You will be able to equip a gun, bow or crossbow. You will not be able to equip a staff, polearm, or any other melee weapon.

I interpreted the answer to mean that you can indeed equip a melee weapon in place of your ranged if you wanted to do so for aesthetic/rp purposes.

My reading of the dev response is more in accord with clundgren then (cutaia).
As long as the hunters can't need on melee weapons post 5.0, that's just fine.

I'm fine with them taking away the ability to have both melee and ranged weapons on if we get quivers to display with our damn bows.

Will hunters be able to equip melee weapons instead of a ranged weapon in MoP, even if just for show ?
Xelnath answered: Yes.
So Hunters will be able to equip a melee weapon, but not at the same time as a ranged weapon. I believe the devs made some mention at Blizzcon that they wanted to make quivers etc more part of a character's aesthetic. Be interesting if we got cosmetic items that change a quiver's display.
