When an expansion and patch gets long in the tooth, players frequently find themselves getting bored with the game. It's just a matter of time; you've played through the content that's available to you, and starting yet another alt just doesn't appeal. After all, how many times can you kill Ragnaros before it starts losing some appeal?
If the doldrums strike you square in the epics, watch this video by Wowcrendor. This video examines the little tips and tricks pro players use to keep from getting burned out. While it's up to you how much of the advice is in earnest and how much is Wowcrendor's brand of sarcasm, the video itself is funtastic! Interested in the wide world of machinima? We have new movies every weekday here on WoW Moviewatch! Have suggestions for machinima we ought to feature? Toss us an email at moviewatch@wowinsider.com.
Wowcrendor seems like he is getting more bitter. His normal light hearthed satires seem to be moving away from "Ha ha, isn't this thing in WoW silly and funny." to "Uhg, this thing about WoW really sucks."
I don't think I've changed drastically, but everyone changes over time, and the game does as well. When I started, I was having fun playing Wrath, but currently, in Cataclysm, I mainly just level up alts and that's about it. Because of that, I'm not a big fan of Cataclysm, so I probably am more cynical towards it than the other expansions. I still have more lighthearted ideas, but I feel more motivated to create this style.
I have to agree. This one, and the MoP trailer just...had a very different feel to them.
Still funny, but not in the lighthearted way I know I giggled when I was first linked to his "Unreleased Cata trailer" and some of the other brilliantly funny vids he's done.
@crendor - It's definitely not a drastic thing, and it definitely doesn't mean people aren't enjoying your videos anymore. (If anything, I can understand the onset of a sort of cynicism.)
I hope the next xpac can lighten the game up again for a lot of us.
*1% that plays other games or does something else outside the game window when they are bored.
I think wowcrendor nailed totally the problems wow currently has on endgame. THIS is why I dont log any other time than raiding. There is simply no funtastic other reasons people tend to claim there is (tho thats opinion I give it that). Leveling alt of alt isnt majorly fun anymore (I mean who doesnt have ton of alts already eh? People have been claiming for people who are bored to level alt since naxx..if they wanted to level one, they would have one).
Not to worry tho. He, me and you know that MoP is trying to fix these with scenarios and pokemons. But will it come fast enough?
But heres question to people who idle and alt tab in ogrimmar, why do you do that still? What still makes you log in even tho you will end up being alt tabbed and browsing intertubes? I find it bit odd because even chatting on gchat doesnt make much sense if you are just alt tabbed most of the time.
For me, it was some kind of imaginary terror that I wouldn't be getting my $15 worth if I didn't log in a lot. Not gonna sugar coat it; Cataclysm helped me get over that. :p
As usual, Wowcrendor delivers. S-s-s-s-super epeen!
It's bad because I'm definitely feeling the burnout too; and I haven't even raided Firelands. I've done about 3.5 raids this expansion not including BH. I got one new alt to 85, but once he got there, I lost some of the interest I had in playing him.
Doing one or two heroics with a good group when I'm in a good mood is fun, but it's so slow. And I don't really bother getting myself to do Molten Front dailies. My attention span is even too low to swap specs, put on some PvP gear and wait for queues. Mind you, the heroics are never on my mage - queue time is too long. Gosh, I sound ADD. Yet somehow, the most fun thing I've done in a while was level professions. Just picking herbs, without waiting in queues, and making some potions or pigment depending on my alt has been the most interesting thing I've done in WoW.
I don't talk in gchat anymore; when I did, I didn't get much conversation out of people; then again, my alts are spread amongst guilds, and they're all silent. I miss the family and friends guild I left for a raiding scene, because I left the raiding guild when I needed more time for my family and friends. D'oh.
If you thought you'd seen everything, go everywhere again (at the very least, level one new alt per continent). The number of hidden / new npcs and areas - post cataclysm - is fantastic!
Great vid, though somehow i enjoyed the 'credits' sequence more than the rest of it. except for maybe 'YOU ALWAYS LOSE BECAUSE YOUR BAD'
I just think the firelands thing has been a bit of a bust. No guild likes hitting walls, and alot of guilds i know, including mine, just hit the wall in firelands as far as what their composition would allow. Degeneration into unending wipefests is never fun.
IMO firelands is alot of too much reliance on one or two people do super awesome job at a specific thing, while also having very strict class/role requirements on who can do them. Common guild friendly content this does not make. Unlike many t11 content encounters, if you dont have this class/skill combo, or that class/role combo is filled by a friend/respected guildy you wont replace, but can't quite hack it, your screwed as well, cause you can't sub ppl that dont fit the class/role requirement.
Two on the ball shannox tanks who can maneuver like crazy, a specific sort of dps for up top beth, specific class/roles for ryo(you know it has to be specific), not anybody can be done without to go play starfox. One of these will quickly get you up against having to shift your raid comp weekly just for an unecessarily strict mechanic. The nerf made it a little better, but tons of times still where one of your ten ppl not being a prodigy on learning raid mechanics will lead you to probably wiping till you disband. Again, unlike 95% of t11, or, in the inflexibility aspect, unlike t7,8,9 and 10 as well.
Woah wowcrendor posted here and now im posting...its like we are connected some how =O
He pointed out that he was changing and that is normal. His videos are not Anti-WoW but instead just making fun of some known issues. I am surprised he still makes vidoes of WoW considering Totalbisquit and JesseCox dont anymore. Jesse's channel is still called omfgcata lol which is funny. But seriously he is funny so check him out if you dont know what im talking about.
Anyways this last video was funny, that alt tabbing bit especially. We all do it. Someone should make an addon where you can open up a browser in game and surf the net without alt tabbing.
Wowcrendor does some good stuff, but please dude, hire someone to do the voicework. When you try to do the "Sunday Sunday Sunday" monster truck announcer voice, movie trailer guy, meatwad?...etc..it's like nails on a chalkboard. Otherwise one of the better creators out there.

That made me feel weird, it's as if an infomercial had soothing music, I need a comparison point.
Ben Stein discussing about economic policy while Nirvana plays in the background.

I think part of it is that his videos seem less about making fun of the players and more about making fun of the game itself.

Don't worry - I hate Cata, too :) I'm just sorry that Pandaland has to be the light at the end of the tunnel. Ugh, pandas.

Yep, wowcrendor pretty much describes everything i've done in WoW 3 months after cataclysm.
That, tank heroics. PUG firelands. and ... crafting mats for the AH to make 90k in gold.
has it only been 11 months since cataclysm came out ?
feels longer.
