Phat Loot Phriday: Sandrene's Invisible Vest

"By Elune's Funky Beat and Tabbed Collars!" Throgg said. "What are you wearing?"
"It's a leather vest," Lolegolas said, running his hands over his chest. "I figured since we're strolling through old content, then we should dress the part. So I got this chestpiece."
"Little elf," Throgg said carefully. "You wear nothing except, perhaps, the Emperor's new clothes. I can see your piercings."
Lolegolas let out a long, sad sigh. The sigh expressed the agony of man who cared deeply about fashion but whose friend could not understand. "It's Sandrene's Invisible Vest, Throgg. It is, in fact, actually a vest and you just can't see it."
Throgg poked the Blood Elf's chest with a doubting finger. "Huh. I can actually feel it. How odd."
"Are you two quite finished?" the Gilnean asked ahead of them. "Miranda's waiting for us."
"Of course," Lolegolas said. "The trail of dead Worgen is getting thicker. Surely, she's nearby. What's our plan at this point?"
The Gilnean sniffed the air, his canine face screwed up in concentration. "I don't smell any Humans nearby. That means nothing. She's been running for months. It's hard to tell what she'd smell like at this point."
Throgg slid off his mount, walking to one of the dead Worgen littering the campsite. "There are no gashes, no piercings. She bludgeoned them to death. I couldn't say with what."
"I do wonder if we're not wasting our time," Lolegolas commented. "The girl is clearly capable of taking care of herself. I'm not sure a rescue mission is called for at this point."
"It isn't about rescue," Throgg corrected. "It's about paying her back. I owe her."
No sooner had Throgg finished speaking than an unholy bellow shook the trees. Tree birds took to the sky. "Uh," the Orc grunted.
"Stitches," the druid said. "It's Stitches."
The Orc had already remounted. "Let's go. We've got to get to Darkshire."

Um....can my Belf Warrior have some invisible plate?
Please, Blizz?
jalterixnar Nov 11th 2011 4:39PM
Yes. But first Snotty has to have Chromie send him back intime to create Transparent Adamantium.
Dimmak Nov 11th 2011 4:11PM
But can you transmog it? Someone test realm now!
Snuzzle Nov 11th 2011 4:15PM
No, they specifically said you couldn't transmog "invisible items". For example, this vest, or the Emperor's New Cape.
Drakkenfyre Nov 11th 2011 4:16PM
Nope, this one was specifically listed among other items that are unelligable. It falls in the "silly" catagory, which really sucks, because it would look good with many outfits, and RP'ing a Demon Hunter.
ChaosPrime Nov 11th 2011 4:22PM
According to wowhead, sadly not :(
Ostentaneous Nov 11th 2011 4:49PM
That really sucks. I Spent a lot of the original fable running around without a shirt and wearing a pimp hat. I was the most bad ass wizard ever.
Olicon Nov 11th 2011 5:33PM
Dang..
I was really hoping to start RPing a berserker with this. Oh, how quickly my dream got shot down.
Nathanyel Nov 11th 2011 7:25PM
You can still RP with it, just use it like you used RP sets before. You just have to equip another chest for combat. I don't know enough about WoW RP and how fights factor into it, but if you (or other people) have the leisure to turn your camera and zoom in to admire your bare chest, the fight isn't very intense or hard anyway, and the stats of your chest item don't matter as much.
Drakkenfyre Nov 11th 2011 8:48PM
Nathanyel,
This is a Demon Hunter.

Rogue + This chest + Vision of Sargeras + Warglaives of Azzenoth = Demon Hunter look-alike.
Assuming you weren't too high to use the Warglaives (since they can't be used to change the looks of other items) you could fight while looking like a Demon Hunter. It isn't necessarily about standing around and RP'ing out of combat.
Plus, many shirts would look nice without having to remove your armor. Someone could wear the antiseptic-soaked gauze to appear battle-injured while still retaining stats.
Derrek Nov 14th 2011 2:22PM
@Drakkenfyre
Theoretically, you could still RP a Demon Hunter by simply removing your shirt and chestpiece - but your point stands, it would be nice to retain stats from high level items while not showing the item itself.
And you're right, the shirts in this game do look pretty good, it's a shame nobody ever sees them.
Nathanyel Nov 16th 2011 10:30AM
Drakkenfyre: Weird example. You either have to be a level 70 xp-locked char, or use the lower-DPS warglaives on a higher level char, since you can't transmog those either.

Ahhh, the Emperor's New Clothes... I remember reading that story in second grade...
The teacher had us draw a picture from the book, so we got put in groups. I was with another boy and two girls. I, being the smart young chap I was, decided to make sure mine was anatomically correct. The two girls startled giggling, while the boy went(And I quote.) "OH MY GOD TEACHER!!! *TEACHER*!!! HE DREW THE THINGY!!!!". Then the poor lady had to have a talk with my younger self about what is appropriate and what is not.
Sorry for the random story. :P
cloudhopper013 Nov 12th 2011 1:58AM
I'm just wondering how your teacher DIDN'T see something like that coming when she gave that assignment.
Artificial Nov 12th 2011 2:51PM
@cloudhopper013: What makes you think she didn't? We gotta learn these things somehow, and a teacher's job is to teach.
ravyncat Nov 11th 2011 4:13PM
XD!!
I love Not!Spot's reaction to Throgg and Lolegolas--I can only call it this--flirting about the shirt.
They should not make their Worgen friend go first when they are following a trail of dead Worgen. O_o; That little girl might hurt him. :O
I can't wait to see what she does to Stitches.
Maribel Nov 11th 2011 5:41PM
Oh, they're absolutely flirting if you ask me :D But I think everybody knows my take on them by now.
I assume Miranda's going to reach through time to yank out his femur. I really hope she joins them. I'm looking forward to at least a couple columns of "Miranda Has Two Daddies."
Dementron Nov 12th 2011 3:49PM
"Miranda Has Two Daddies." This. So very much this. They already have their puppy. Add a kid and they can be a happy, albeit strange, little family. :D

I remember when I first saw Stitches on my hunter while he was questing in Duskwood. I followed him around until he hit the first road block and proceeded to help the watchers take him down. Not surprisingly, I got killed. I kept repeating this until we reached the last group of guards near Darkshire and there were other people there to kill him. I looted the Femur but I believe that I had vendored it later, much to my regret now. I also met him on my druid but instead of trying to solo him (though I did that before, in vain of course), I just healed Watcher Jordan through it. Since I was feral, I had very little mana and so when I ran out, I dropped combat, either through Shadowmeld or running away, and drank to full. Again, I looted the Femur but I vendored that one too... (I never thought that I could never get it again). Nonetheless, the memories of those times are still with me.

You tease! You had me all excited there, thinking I'd be able to get this for my blood elf, but it appears that it's only available from an Alliance quest. Is there a similar item for Horde?
