If AH addons were banned, the cost of a lot of trade goods that get crafted in bulk, like gems and glyphs, would skyrocket. I did gem crafting and selling manually for a very short time when I first maxed it. I was looking up each cut I knew, writing down the cost and selling price, and then cutting the profitable gems on my list and posting them. It took me as much time and more effort to post 10 cuts as it takes me to post about 50 unique cuts now. Not many people would be willing to do that, so prices would go up (less undercutting) and the niche cuts would rarely be posted. It would, in short, have the opposite effect-- the people patient enough to craft by hand would get richerer, and normal people would have to pay much more for their gems. And forget about glyphs at anything remotely similar to a sane price; even with addons, they're a pain to manage. There are hundreds of unique, viable glyphs, all of them sell at a slow, steady pace, and managing stock with no addons would be miserable, much less having to post them one by one.
