I just reviewed yesterday's Q&A, and came away with a follow-up question that I then posted to the devs privately. The question submitted yesterday was ""Have you considered having a pet stampede spell where our 5 pet stable rushes our enemy for a 5min cooldown? Or is that too epic?"
The response was "yes", but there were two questions there, and we didn't make it clear that we were responding to the first question.
Here is a Ghostcrawler quote for you --
"One of the potential ideas we're considering for a new hunter ability is one where they send all 5 of their current pets to attack, for a short period of time, on a long cooldown. No guarantees that we'll go with it, but we're at least considering something like that."
That could be a lot of fun!
--
It isn't a certainty, but it is very likely that this will be implemented with 5.0.
--
We're talking about something that is completely hypothetical, so anything is possible.
I personally would want the ability to call the five pets that I actually have on hand at the time, since that would give me control over what everyone sees when I send out the stampede.
Furthermore, it makes a lot of sense for the spell effects to not vary much from hunter to hunter, so special abilities would be right out, *but* I wouldn't mind seeing the pets going through their best motions.

That would be very cool. Like "Army of the Dead" for Hunters... sort of.
Is the comment below also just in the concept stage or will this be implemented? If so would it be a patch or at MoP release.
•With Aspect of the Cheetah on you won't get dazed when attacked, but the speed bonus will be turned off when you get hit.

So, would it use our pets we have on hand or would it be more like the group of npc's we get when you do the Firelands daily at Sethria's Roost? Just some random animals.
Would it use any of our pet's special abilities?

What if I don't have all five active pet slots full? I usually keep at least one empty just in case I stumble upon something I want to tame. I guess I could always remember to fill the slots before a raid, but I still see a potential for this to be a problem.
kunukia Nov 12th 2011 7:48AM
Yeah, I do that also, leave one slot empty, well, then it would be a stampede of four, I guess. You could take a fifth pet of good utility, but that you would not mind replacing. That is what I will do.
Drahken Nov 12th 2011 9:33AM
You could tame a junk pet just to fill the slot. And then if you come across that awesome pet you been searching for, you can abandon the junk pet and tame the new one.
EverythingRuned Nov 12th 2011 9:50AM
In an ideal world, stampede could first check check your currently carried pets, then take some out of your stable if you don't have enough.
Well, actually, ideally you could drag & drop your favorite pets, regardless of which you're carrying with you, as those are usually dictated by potential raid/pvp requirements.
kunukia Nov 12th 2011 9:53AM
Oh, that would be great Runed. And since it would take the first ones out of your stable, you could stack the first few slots with the ones you want.
I bet they won't do that though, they like to force us to make choices.
DeathPaladin Nov 12th 2011 10:26AM
If Hunters get Stampede, I will respec my Hunter to Beast Mastery, tame a devilsaur, and then fill his stable with more devilsaurs.
I challenge anyone to come up with a sight more awesome than that.
Jack Mynock Nov 12th 2011 5:28PM
Inb4 disabled in arena.
Skarn Nov 12th 2011 6:46PM
@Deathpaladin
5 monkies all flinging poo?
Thomas Higgins Nov 12th 2011 6:59PM
My Hunter applauds this notion too. Now all I need to do is get another three pets or so and I am golden.
Hairfish Nov 13th 2011 5:25AM
A herd of crabs!
Oteo Nov 11th 2011 11:55PM
/me looks at her embarrassing set of stable pets and decides she's going to have to tame 5 wolves.
Skarn Nov 12th 2011 1:43AM
I'm going to pull out my five colors of Molten Fire spiders, just to see AAHHCOLORFIRESPIDRS!!!!
Blizzard has to put this in!
chipthamac Nov 12th 2011 12:15AM
Finally, they un-nerfed rogues while stealthed, time to un-nerf Cheetah!
yujie.max Nov 12th 2011 12:38AM
I can totally see hunters being vexed about not being able to tame at least 5 Spirit Beasts.
"But, mom, I'm preparing for Stampede! I can't do my homework! I can't just go tame random monsters. It has to stick to the theme. See, my name is Xxspirithunterxx."
neoterous Nov 12th 2011 12:52AM
personally i'm envisioning a pack of raptors charging my foes. jeff goldblum ain't got s#!t on me!
Skarn Nov 12th 2011 1:42AM
Rhonin?
Is that you?
Drahken Nov 12th 2011 2:02AM
No no no. Jeff Goldblum barely had anything to do with the raptors. That's why my raptor's name is DrGrant. Now, my Devilsaur's name is Goldblum. Much better!
alapin Nov 12th 2011 6:05AM
@Drahken: One of my buddies had a hunter for a while with a raptor that he named "Clevergirl". I think that would fit in with your Jurassic Park pun names for raptors.
