I'm confused. I thought kicking the GM for not logging on for a month was something that would not come until the next patch. I have a toon in a small guild where the GM has not logged in over a month, and the only other toon has not been on in 4 months. It does not give me any option to take over the guild.

If the guild leader's gone for a specific amount of time, an officer can pass duties to someone else. The GM can't be kicked, but he can be demoted.

The new system is merely an automation of the existing policy. Right now, if your guild leader has been offline for over 30 days, you can put in a ticket petitioning blizzard to hand over control of the guild.

I believe in 4.3 it becomes an automatic pop up option. Prior to that you have to petition a GM to have the guildleader removed from leadership position for lack of logging in.
