sounds like as they are are about to implement the transfer a guild thing that, that is what he plans to do. get leadership back then take his guild to the other server i would tell him go to hell. imho

Yup, that's exactly it.

If you promote him, even to officer, he'll boot you and transfer the guild. You will be left with nothing.

If he left the guild, it's not his anymore. He can deal with that. Tell him to eat it.
