The Queue: Fus Ro Dah

Oh jeez. Oh gosh. It's 6:30 a.m. and I haven't written The Queue yet. This is your fault, Skyrim. This is all your fault. I hate you so much. Get out of my life, Skyrim. I never want to see you again.
Wait, baby, no! I didn't mean it! Come back, please! I need you. I need you so bad.
AGuyOnTheInternet asked:
Any idea what Blizzard's plan is to get people missing expansions to be set and ready for MoP? Like a battle chest or something?
Blizzard has already bundled The Burning Crusade with the base game; The Burning Crusade effectively doesn't exist anymore. All of that content is in the bottom-level box, not branded with the Burning Crusade title at all. A couple of the Blizzard developers have mentioned in passing that they want to roll Wrath of the Lich King into the basic box as well. That will almost certainly happen at some point in the future, but when? We don't know. It could be a few months from now. It could be a couple years from now.
Personally, I'd like to see Blizzard go the route a couple of other games in the industry have gone with expansions: If you buy an expansion, you're given everything else that's been released before it. So if you were a new player who wanted to start World of Warcraft, you would just buy the Cataclysm box. With it, you'd get Wrath of the Lich King, The Burning Crusade, and vanilla WoW. When Mists of Pandaria comes out, a new player would buy the MoP box and get Cataclysm, Wrath, Burning Crusade, and vanilla all in one package.
Wrox asked:
Has there been any word of a Pilgrim's Bounty boss? I'd love to fight an epic turkey of doom. This holiday could be so much more than the week when everybody levels cooking on their alts.
No word on that, no.
I think I like Pilgrim's Bounty being low-key. This season is stacked with so many darn stress-inducing holidays in-game and out that I appreciate having a little break to just run around the world, have a little fun, skill up cooking and not give a damn about the latest mount drop or whatever.
@eicenhour asked:
Do you think Blizzard will bring back the Battle for Undercity in the future?
Definitely not. Cataclysm killed that quest dead.
@ladiciuswarrior asked:
with the removal of relics and the such do you think we will get vanity items like the book hanging from my pally figure?
I haven't heard anything about this, but it would be very awesome if Blizzard did it. Trophies is one of the things Warhammer Online did extremely well. You earned trophies by completing in-game tasks and achievements. Every character model had a set of attachment points on the hips, shoulders, and so on. You chose which trophies you wanted to display on which parts of your body. I absolutely loved it, and I'd love if Blizzard brought that to WoW.
@malytwotails asked:
Should I bake gingerbread cookies or mint chocolate chip cookies tomorrow? I promise to actually send some to Alex.
While I love gingerbread and it is the season for such things, I'm not sure any cookie could top mint chocolate chip. Go with that.
I wonder if USPS lets you send cookies to a P.O. box?
@Sabiba asked:
any suggestions to beat the prepatch boredom? Other than rolling an alt. Can't seem to get excited for anything other than raiding.
Build your transmogrification set! That's what I did. Also, don't force yourself to play if you're bored. It's alright to step away from the game and do something else to let your batteries recharge. You'll be more excited to play when patch 4.3 rolls around that way. World of Warcraft won't get mad at you for being a two-timing cheater if you play another game for a couple of weeks. Taking a break is OK.
Playing other games doesn't need to be a huge expense, either. A lot of players get nervous about playing other games because they don't want to drop $50 to $60 at a time on a brand new game they may or may not like, because that's a steep price tag when you're used to only paying $15 per month. You don't need to drop $60 on a new game. You really don't. Grab Steam and look at recent top indie games. You can get some really solid titles for around $15, sometimes as low as $5. I highly recommend Bastion for $15. It's one of the best gaming experiences I've had all year.

To put it simply: Specializations and Talents are becoming two different thing.
Choosing a spec will give you a few core spec abilities and a bunch of additional ones during the leveling process. IE, Fury Warriors can learn Titan's Grip at level 38. Dual Spec will still allow you to swap between two specs.
The current plan for talent swapping is that you'll be able to switch your talents around by visiting a class trainer or using an Inscription-made Training Manual.
jfofla Nov 14th 2011 2:20PM
I hardly think talents are being simplified. They are being made relevant and choice is being added.
What could be more simple than going to EJ and copying a spec as we do now?
Nyold Nov 14th 2011 3:49PM
Theoretically you can even have a BG Protadin spec and Arena Protadin spec, and your talent choices, bindings, etc are chosen for those specific purpose. Not many people are going to do this, I know, but it's just in theory it's possible and someone might do it.
Paul Nov 14th 2011 6:26PM
Finally, to put it in yet another way.
The current talent system is being sundered into two.
One piece is the Talent system where you make a choice ever 15 levels and the other piece is part of your specialisation, with core mechanics of your spec being automatically learnt as you level up.
Class abilities
Spec abilities
Talent abilites

Bored with WoW? Do what a good deal of the rest of us are doing - picking up everything that isn't nailed down in Skyrim :D
loop_not_defined Nov 14th 2011 11:10AM
I thought people were eating butterflies. Isn't that what you do in Skyrim?
I've only been able to create Percy the dapper accountant orc on my brother's Xbox, so far. Haven't really seen it played.
Jamie Nov 14th 2011 11:13AM
Me & my wife seem to be taking a WoW break after a bad heroic encounter.
I'll be playing Halo: Anniversary come Tuesday woohoo!!
Hob Nov 14th 2011 11:36AM
@Jaime
Sorry to hear that, but I know what you mean. Hope you have a nice break and we see you again soon. :)
Pyromelter Nov 14th 2011 12:19PM
Currently doing that with Dark Souls tyvm :).
Batleth Nov 14th 2011 12:48PM
Or you could have gotten lucky enough to participate in the SWTOR beta test weekend.
:-)
Kadzeroth Nov 14th 2011 12:48PM
I'd play Skyrim, but I get so lost in giant sandboxes of doom that I can't really enjoy it. /sadpanda
I need a semi-linear RPG like Final Fantasy 4 or Xenogears. You can go out and explore, but the main storyline pulls you in a direction. I get into story more than exploration.
Which means I've been playing SW:ToR to combat boredom in my semi-WoW burnout.
Twowolves Nov 14th 2011 11:05AM
Any chance Blizzard will actually do away with realm character limits? At this point, 10 characters per realm is just too low.
The Dewd Nov 14th 2011 11:09AM
They've hinted that it's one of the way they're considering making room for monks and/or Panderan.
Levi Nov 14th 2011 11:11AM
The going theory is that they'll remove the 10-toon-per-realm limit, but keep the account limit at 50
Narayana Nov 14th 2011 11:13AM
They've talked about this topic a few times and there has been mention of lifting the realm cap, but keeping the account cap of 50.
Shinae Nov 14th 2011 11:18AM
This was asked at this year's Blizzcon, and Greg Street replied to it by saying that they are considering it. He mentioned that they might do away with the per-realm limit while keeping the 50-character limit across all realms in place.
So it's definitely within the realm of possibility, and Blizz is very much aware of players' desire for more character slots on a realm.
Amaxe Nov 14th 2011 1:42PM
I wish they would do this before MoP. I'd like it if I could try Horde side and explore their story more deeply on the same realm as my Alliance toons so I could swap the heirlooms back and forth without paying the $25 or $30 (I forget which) it costs to move a toon. I'm at 7 85s, 1 81 (Hunter), 1 30 (Warlock) and 1 15 (Priest) so before long I'll have all my toons stagnating at 85.
Abbadon Nov 14th 2011 4:33PM
And a reminder... At some point last year, there was an EU survey with a question asking if the the player would be willing to pay for additional character slots. It was discussed briefly in a WoW Insider article or two, and I never did see anything further or whether they released the results of the survey.
I would think the percentage of players in dire need of more slots per server is low in comparison to total players, but I'm one of them and would really love to see this in MoP (or sooner). However, I really hope they don't make it a paid service.
(cutaia) Nov 14th 2011 4:36PM
I think it's a pretty safe bet that they will do this. My reasoning? The account-wide achievement system they are considering will open the opportunity for achievements like, "Reach level 90 with one of each class." If they're going to have stuff like that, they're going to want to give us the opportunity to work on it all on one server.
loop_not_defined Nov 14th 2011 11:06AM
Blizzard mentioned they wanted to add more visual gear, specifically referring to Librams and whatnot, during BlizzCon 2011. Belts are getting more visuals in MoP already - they'll be animated.
