Blizzard mentioned they wanted to add more visual gear, specifically referring to Librams and whatnot, during BlizzCon 2011. Belts are getting more visuals in MoP already - they'll be animated.

I remember hearing this said by a dev at Blizzcon, too. The example was a character model with a libram shown as a book on a chain, like the draenei from the BC cinematic.

This would be so cool. I'm already envious of Thrall's orc-purse, I mean, messenger bag.

This was discussed a couple of times at Blizzcon. The art team are working on graphics for things like quivers and librams and would like to be able to show them somehow.
