The Queue: Which poster should I get next?

As my awesome wall of gaming posters and art is coming together, I am at an impasse. There is room on the wall for one more large WoW patch art poster, and I don't know which to get. There are two that I want, but I can't decide. You're going to help me out, The Queue. The Ahn'Qiraj patch art is already on my wall, but you know that if you've seen my YouTube stuff or the new WoW Insider Weekly News Update in sparkling video form. Here are my options for my next PrintWarcraft purchase:
- Fury of the Sunwell, patch 2.4
- Secrets of Ulduar, patch 3.1
Hensonite asked:
What am I transmogrifying - the look of an individual item or the look of a "slot"?
Example: If i transmogrify my helmet to look like goggles, will only that helmet change its appearance or will everything I wear on my head be displayed as those goggles?
You transmog the look of an individual item, not the slot that it goes in. Transmog works like an enchant that changes the appearance of the item, which is why it gets ripped off when you put a transmogged item into void storage.
Manowarrior asked:
Is it just me or does it seem like regular tues morning maintenance is a thing of the past? Can't remember the last time it happened other than for a patch. Did blizzard improve something?
The regular maintenance schedule still happens and Blizzard still accounts for it, but sometimes there is no need for it and rolling restarts are good enough. My guess is that Blizzard runs some diagnostics over the course of the week, and if numbers come up green, servers don't have to go down for an extended period of time. Also, if there are no huge fixes, bugs, game-breaking exploits, or assets to add, then there is just no need for downtime. The technology has improved considerably since six years ago.
Jestin asked:
If I'm looking to break into the WoW TCG, what would be a good box to buy? I'm looking through all of the xpacs available on the website and there are just so many. I'd like to find one that can ease me into the gameplay, has potential for some neat loot cards and has great art. Any thoughts?
If you would like to hop into the WoW TCG, your best bet is to start with one of the complete class starter decks. Each class starter deck comes with a 60-card, ready-to-go deck for playing the game. There's a rule book in the package as well. If you have a favorite card shop or hobby store that sells trading card games, it might even have a deck there that you could try one of the nights that people go and play the game. Plus, the class starter decks don't break the bank in the cost department.
The other option for breaking into the game is to go see the cool folks over at Cryptozoic in person at one of the Darkmoon Faire events. The next U.S. ones are starting up in 2012. Going to the events is an awesome way to break into the game because you get to sit down and play the game right away with people who want to teach you as well as potentially getting some discounts on products. Plus, the people at Cryptozoic are really nice.
Valorum asked:
I know absolutely zero about pokemon. How far behind will I be when this feature appears in WoW?
You will not be behind at all when the Pet Battle system comes in Mists of Pandaria. Everything is being built from the ground up for this new system, and everyone is coming in blind. If you've ever played a turn-based video game like an RPG, you'll have a working knowledge of the mechanics.
Ellesmere asked:
Do you think garrosh likes cake, pie, or cookies more?
Pizza.

Now you know how the 300 felt against the archers of Xerxes. You will post in the shade.

Well done, Matt. Well done.

And that's why you stay away from punch!

Personally, I'd go with Fury of the Sunwell. It just has that epic, ominous feel to it that gives me a shiver every time I see it.
bountyhunterah Nov 16th 2011 11:06AM
Agreed, the sunwell poster is the way to go.
Shinae Nov 16th 2011 11:07AM
I'd much rather look at Algalon than Kil'jaeden. And the broken husk of Kael'Thas makes me sad.
Also, the holographic globe of Azeroth is so cool.
Ilmyrn Nov 16th 2011 11:22AM
They're both cool, but I'd probably go for Ulduar. Not only was it the best raid Blizzard's done yet, it was (and still is) an absolute blast to play through.
Plus, magical star guy > demon dude.

Another vote for the Sunwell. Though that Operation Gnomer poster they have is better than both.
ToastyPosty Nov 16th 2011 11:40AM
Sunwell. Just Sunwell. There's a reason that particular piece is the wallpaper on 5 monitors of mine.
Grovinofdarkhour Nov 16th 2011 11:49AM
I was gonna say Ulduar, gotta put up the best raid in the game, this one's a no-brainer. And then I clicked through and remembered how badass the Sunwell graphic is.
Honestly? I'd look around the room at the current poster collection and take note of the overall color scheme. Decide if better overall balance would be achieved with a little more red, or a little more blue.
Let's face it - whichever one you pick, it's not like you won't get the other one at some point anyway.
Chrior Nov 16th 2011 11:56AM
I'd have to go with Ulduar. Had it a long time in my desktop. It's just really beautiful! ...and Algalon is prettier than Lil'Jaiden >.>
Kadzeroth Nov 16th 2011 12:17PM
Definitely Ulduar. By far the best raid Blizz has done IMO.
Mortenebra Nov 16th 2011 12:29PM
Another vote for "Fury of the Sunwell" here.
Every time I look at the artwork or watch the patch trailer, I get shivers of excitement. Ulduar is, by far, still one of my favorite raids of all time next to Karazhan. But Algalon doesn't inspire the same sort of fear and righteous fury in me-- maybe it's because he's just the messenger, doing his job, and not inherently evil. He was going to annihilate us all and reboot the planet. While I have a problem with that and am glad we took care of him, all I can think of looking at that artwork is, "What were the Titans thinking?!"
Kil'jaeden, however, is evil, if not evil incarnate. An evil vanquished by a bunch of "mere mortals," mind you. That's pretty epic to think about.
Swifteye Nov 16th 2011 12:47PM
I agree with Shinae's reasoning... I adore Kael'Thas, and to see the miserable shell he became MgT-era just depresses the heck outta me.
Sunwell was a better overall period IMHO, but purely looks-wise and emotions-wise, I would personally have to go with the Ulduar poster.
Fa110u7 Nov 16th 2011 12:48PM
I think it depends on what you already have up, If there are a couple of reddish flame posters then go with the blue mystical poster and vice versa.
Vitos Nov 16th 2011 12:54PM
Sunwell- if its hanging in the void, but really, we need to see what other posters you have (plus other wall ornaments) before we can make a true decision for you.
Philster043 Nov 16th 2011 1:04PM
I'd definitely go for Fury of the Sunwell, no hesitation. I love the artwork there.
