World of Warcraft turns 7 years old next week

We had heard about a potential tabard item for the anniversary a few months back during the datamining of patch 4.2, so this reward isn't unexpected, but it's still very welcome. The Baby Blizzard Bear and Onyxian Whelping were awesome rewards back in the day, and I love getting cool, fun items each year. The return of anniversary gifts is a welcome change.
World of Warcraft turns seven on November 23, 2011! It's been a truly incredible seven years, and we'd like to thank you all for joining us for yet another fantastic year. To celebrate, players who log into the game between November 20 and December 3 will earn a feat of strength added to their Achievements and a "Celebration Package" item. Using your item will get the celebrations rolling by shooting off fireworks*, applying a (visual only) tabard to your character, and granting a 7% bonus to experience and reputation gains while active.
We look forward to another year of adventures ahead and many more to come!
*Please observe all goblin and gnome fire hazard warnings and celebrate responsibly.

Cosmetic only tabard....
I wonder what it will look like, how long will it last, and if it does disappear, will we be able to reapply it (click the celebration package to reapply)?

Happy Birthday, WoW! Looking forward to another year. Yes, including pandas. ;-)
Chris W Nov 18th 2011 11:50PM
Out of the nine total dungeons planned in the initial release of World of Warcraft's fourth expansion, Mists of Pandaria, the last of which is the Stormstout Brewery... and his brewery has been overrun by the Verming and Hozu.
Or overrun with rabbits and monkeys. Really? The best thing they could come up with for the top dungeon in initial MoP is rabbits and monkeys.
I played WoW for 6.5 years non stop, I felt kinda sorry for the people who liked the pandas, I thought they just didn't know better.
But now I will laugh in the face of people who still play WoW after this.

No, I don't think so... according to the art panel (one of the few I watched all the way through), it was spirits. Presumably some relation to the Sha.
cloudhopper013 Nov 19th 2011 12:16AM
Also, the brewery is situated in the second zone, so it's obviously not the final instance, not even close. It will probably serve more as an intro to the expansion, a little after the Shrine of the Jade Serpent.
I could be totally wrong, but I'm fairly confident that I'm not.

Really? Are you really wasting everyone's time with your nonsense?
You hate what WoW has become, good for you. Go away. Seriously, leave. Delete this website from your history, as well as your mind.
I, for one, am tired of all the negative people that have nothing better to do than try to ruin other's source of joy.
There are other things you can and should be doing with your time. Like end world hunger... I might actually pay heed to what you have to say if you could do that.
But you'd rather spend your time trolling.
Chris W Nov 19th 2011 1:25AM
It's not trolling if its the truth

click see more text under the video box. Blizzard wrote this not me. Go wowwiki the villains.
Yes the heroes or Warcraft will be saving beer from rabbits and monkeys while playing teddybears.
Really do you think I could make this up.
Hih Nov 19th 2011 4:13AM
@Chris: We won't be playing teddybears, we'll be playing pokemon, there's a difference, I swear!
In all seriousness though, Fuck off. You're not going to convert anyone by trolling, and we're not going to change your mind. All you're doing is wasting everyone's, including your own, time.
Besides, you'll be back. Maybe not day 1 of the expansion, but you'll be back. And I'll be laughing in your face when you do.

@ Chris W: Don't let the door hit you on the way out.

Why is it that people that has stopped playing WoW feels such a huge need to convince other to stop playing? Seriously? Find another game and leave us alone. Or go and watch TV. We are not interested in what you have to say. Or are you hired by Rift to do this? :-P
Andrew Nov 19th 2011 11:45AM
The heroes of Warcraft are already saving beer from frogs and candle-wielding rats while playing cows, and at one point that attracted 12 million people.
Unexplained Bacon Nov 19th 2011 12:14PM
@Chris W
1) Blizzard has never let me down so I give them the benefit of the doubt.
2) If you are done with the game, why are you hanging out on a site dedicated to it?
3) Does it satisfy some need of yours to belittle other people for liking things you don't? Feel a lot better about yourself now, do ya?
Why not move on to another game and just be happy you have the choice to do so? I promise not to come make fun of you for liking it.
vocenoctum Nov 19th 2011 4:20PM
Plenty of us have left the game because we didn't like the direction, without coming back to troll and throw out insults and such. While I understand that plenty of folks like pandaren, poke-companions and other things that just don't sync with me, just as I'm not trying to convince folks to quit, don't focus on the angry types and tell all dissatisfied customers "fine, go away, you'll be back anyway and we don't care".
Not that you're blizz, by any means, but even if WoW is far from a breaking point, keep in mind that there IS such a point.
If a comment is angry/trollish, just vote it down and let it disappear.
Thedave Nov 20th 2011 6:32PM
@chris W
Well as i started to think of a witty comeback for ya, i read through all the other peoples comments and i felt sad. Its almost creepy how people worship this game. One even called it a "source of joy" ... terrible. So i'm gonna go ahead and agree with you bro. Bring on the downvotes!!!

Cosmetic Only probably refers to the fact that the tabard itself will not give any Rep or XP bonuses.
mem0ryburn Nov 19th 2011 5:25AM
"Using your item will get the celebrations rolling by shooting off fireworks*, applying a (visual only) tabard to your character, and granting a 7% bonus to experience and reputation gains while active."
From the somewhat vague wording, I fear it may not even be an actual, usable, honest to goodness tabard per se, but rather a visual effect of the xp/rep buff that comes from using the Celebration Package, making this, in the long run, as useless as the nothing that we got last year. I don't mean to sound like an entitled snot as I say this because what we were given on previous anniversaries was more than most companies do for their supporters. I just can't help feeling that a continuing tradition of anniversary pets would have been really nice.
Youmakemeret Nov 18th 2011 10:13PM
I just hope it's not a charged item. Like, 50 charges and it's done. I prefer getting the awesome pets every year!
Philster043 Nov 18th 2011 10:15PM
I'm a bit sad that I missed out on the Baby Blizzard Bear pet. Tabard will be okay but... ah well!
Seems like WoW has been around forever, I'm a little bit surprised it's only been seven years. Here's to many more.
Zapwidget Nov 18th 2011 10:15PM
Remember last year when we didn't get anything and they said it was because they only wanted to mark "milestone" anniversaries? How is 7 a milestone but 6 not?
I want my 6th year anniversary gift, dammit!
