Around Azeroth: If the fall don't get you, the landing will
Oh, hey, it's a sheer drop into nothingness. Reminds me of one of the approximately 1,000 mountains I've fallen off while playing Skyrim this week. For a relatively easy sandbox game, I've died a truly depressing number of times. But then again, we've been there before. Whether stepping on a land mine in Fallout 3, getting caught stealing by the guards in Morrowind, or simply being savaged by angry mutant bears in just about all of its games, Bethesda Softworks will always find new and inventive ways to kill me. How has your Skyrim adventure been going, readers? (Thanks to Bakthar of Trouble and Strife on Khaz'goroth [US-H] for the screenshot!)

I've already been through at least half a dozen horses. Apparently horses in Skyrim have the unfortunate combination of being stupid brave and being made of glass. I finally got tired of them exploding if they tripped over a moderately steep downward slope and got friendly with the "resurrect" console command.
I must say, the sight of a horse rolling and flopping its boneless way down a cliff is one of the creepier things I've ever seen in a video game. Kudos to the physics engine there.

I still have my first horse and i think it's made of stone since not even a dragon can kill it with his fire breath, but it's funny to see him run around in flames. I've even had my hose help me fight wolfs and bears if i dismounted to close to any of those, the horse at one point even killed a pack of wolfs by himself.
To think of it, have had that horse so long now i should give him a name or something.

Knut, name him "Dovahsteed"

I lost my first horse to exploration. I hopped down to gather some alchemy ingredients, found a bandit camp, went in and when I came out he was gone. He will randomly appear outside of towns when I fast travel only to disappear again when I exit some dungeon.

Going good in Skyrim while i wait for 4.3. Saved a lot of villages from dragon attacks, even fought 2 dragons at once. Been turned into a werewolf and created carnage through numerous bandit camps, oh the shear fun i've had doing that.
Also been trying to do the damn main story line but with the huge number of side quests out there i don't even have time to do that so this game is just down my ally as a rest from WoW, well worth the money.
Oh also bought myself a nice house and furnished it with the best stuff money could buy, now i just need to find a wife to help me with the cooking.

I've been killing more dragons than ever - And less casualties on the townsfolk while doing so.

I'm just grieving the fact that in Hungary Skyrim has been sold out, and I have to wait till next Friday at least to get my hands on it. 'cause I don't want to get them dirty by torrenting it.
Ok, said torrent didn't work.
On another note, herbalising the living daylight out of my alt DK.

I had a wonderful moment recently.. On the way up to High Hrothgar the first time I ran into this ice troll. He mauled me a few times, despite trying to use fire to beat him... I just couldn't seem to any damage that would stick more than half a second. Eventually I just gave up, used my Battle Cry (Go Nords!) and sprinted by him. Though for a fun moment... we were both running neck and neck, each of us running in fear to get away from the other... but going the same direction.
After learning DAH from Unrelenting Power, I came down the mountain to visit my friend Mister Troll again... This time shouting him right off the side of the tallest mountain in Skyrim. It was a happy making time. I just wish I knew where he landed so I could go do rude things to his body...

Went to level 20 on an Argonian Mage/Archer.
I rerolled a 1H/Shield Nord for that classic fantasy bad*** feeling. Actually smithed a lot and next thing I knew I hadn't even gone to High Hrothgar (if you have done anything in the game you know that, it's not even a spoiler it's so early) and I was level 25 walking around in Ebony Armor. Last night I told myself I WILL get out there, but I stumbled upon a massive ruin where two Blood Dragons were fighting a team of named undead Nords and their skeletons in two different locations on my screen at once. So yeah, that took quite a bit of my time.

I also killed a Wisp on a hill and chased its loot which is a ball that rolls downward for 5 minutes until giving up.

I discovered how to deal with giants at lower-than-intended level; kite them back to a watchtower, run up stairs that are too small for them, and shoot them inna head. Bonus points if the giant murders all the guards, too.
Philster043 Nov 19th 2011 4:20PM
Good notion. I was near the tower when I was being chased by a giant but unfortunately thought I had a chance to do more damage from behind when he was distracted by the guards, he didn't oblige.
I did kill some mammoths by getting to a high point where they couldn't reach me. It took an awful lot of arrows, but they finally fell.

My horse is amazing. Like somebody else here mentioned, she's actually been attacked by bandits, a bear, wolves, skeletons, and a FREAKING DRAGON, and she's survived it all! I've been extra careful not to fall off any cliffs - have not died a single time due to that so far! =)
I just looked at my main's death total in WoW the other day, though. A little over 1,500 times (4 times drowning). Ouch. I wish it was possible to view all his deaths again in one long highlight reel. It'd probably be amusing.

I have learned that killing a chicken in Skyrim, Everyone will attack you! Don't Kill the Chickens!
Steffan Nov 19th 2011 6:13PM
"Relatively easy?" What game have I been playing then! I've died so much, it's kinda depressing.

"or simply being savaged by angry mutant bears"
My first thought was the Welcome Bear in Western Plaguelands. /cough
