Chuck Norris plays a melee hunter in latest WoW commercial
Chuck Norris jokes have been a fixture of Warcraft Barrens and trade chat lore for years, so it was probably inevitable that we'd get something like this eventually. Personally, I'm still a bigger fan of Vin Diesel jokes (and Vin Diesel the human being, for that matter), but it's hard to deny that Chuck doesn't have his place in pop culture and in the WoW community. Now, with this commercial, it's official. And I won't lie, I'd probably give my humans that hairstyle and beard if they showed up in game.

These commercials aren't funny. They actually make me embarrassed to play this game.
vocenoctum Nov 20th 2011 6:05PM
I liked Mr T's well enough, the others meh, this one is boring. Not true to the game in any fashion, he barely speaks, it's just... boring. Oh well.
Pyromelter Nov 20th 2011 6:09PM
Oh come on, how can you not laugh at this?
"There are 10 million people in the World of Warcraft... because Chuck Norris allows them to live!"
c'mon admit it that is funny. And that commercial is awesome. Forget the unrealistic "melee hunter." nothing about wow is realistic in any way shape or form to begin with, just take it as the funny little commercial it is.

Then you take things way too seriously.
vocenoctum Nov 20th 2011 6:39PM
Heh, it's funny that he was voted up at first, now voted down...
Either way, that was an interesting thing in and of itself. "10 million", the internet ads still say 12mil. Wonder when they'll stop mentioning a specific number.
missemilyblack Nov 20th 2011 6:49PM
I don't like them either :(

Chuck Norris may be Epic...But Shatner is GOD!
Not so bad though as I always liked the commercials. If you think it's bad now, wait till the commercial with the damn Panda's comes about. I wonder what poor sap they'll stick with that commercial.
That is when you can be embarrassed and it be completely justified... ;P

The commercials are fine, I quite like them. My only hang up with this one is knowing that chuck is a right wing lunatic spoils it a bit. I wish I didnt tbh.

@DBriggs304... Jackie Chan, of course!
Also, still waiting for the Charlie Sheen warlock and the Sarah Palin rogue. I wanna see a Stephen Colbert one, too.
Me? Demanding? No...
greenthumbs Nov 20th 2011 7:46PM
@vocenoctum Maybe Blizzard should just say that they have "over 9000" subscribers. ;)
+1 for a Charlie Sheen warlock advert.
JattTheRogue Nov 20th 2011 8:12PM
A Charlie Sheen warlock ad?! Please oh please oh please oh please

I kind of agree. All the WoW commercials in the past were nicely done. This one wasn't bad but it wasn't that funny. It's not all their fault. While Chuck Norris is awesome and gave us movies like Missing in action and Firewalker, he also gave us Invasion USA and the Hero and the Terror. Are we going to over analyze and critique the commercial? Probably. I was a little let down by the ad and thought just the fact that is was basically, "hey play WoW, it's F2P for the first 20 levels", was also meh. I guess I was expecting something about MoP or something new. I still love Chuck and I still love WoW, that probably won't change for a while. Oh yeah, go Bears!

It's not that the commercial was particularly bad or anything, it was just released 5+ years too late. Chuck Norris jokes are old hat by now and have been for some time. It would be the same thing if they had Winona Rider do one of these commercials and play a rogue (thief). It's funny, but it's about a decade too late to be relevant.
On second thought, Winona Rider as a pickpocketing rogue is starting to grow on me now.

I bet you freak out when your parents speak to you at the mall also.

@EaterOfBirds
Would it be better if they had gotten a leftwing lunatic instead?
Is he a lunatic for having strong convictions, or for having an opposing view?
/confused
robsmith77 Nov 21st 2011 8:51AM
Well, I disagree.
Kunikenwad! Nov 21st 2011 10:34AM
Obvious comment is missed here ... was this a preview for updated racial models? That human Norris looks very different than standard in-game models.
peon47 Nov 21st 2011 10:51AM
@Zapwidget
He's a lunatic because he believes an invisible omnipotent and immortal man in the sky 1) exists, 2) cares about him and 3) cares about what he does.
Having an opposing view to me doesn't make someone a lunatic. That comes from having an opposing view to *evidence*
Zapwidget Nov 21st 2011 5:17PM
"Having an opposing view to me doesn't make someone a lunatic. That comes from having an opposing view to *evidence*"
Did you really just try to rationalize your viewpoint by saying you have evidence that something does not exist?
Lack of existing evidence is not evidence of lack of existence.
I thought I was /confused before...

What took them so long, lol.
I do like him pummeling the gnome though. WHAP WHAP WHAP!
