Spiritual Guidance: Patch 4.3 raid gear for holy and discipline priests

I've always hated patch day, and not for the reasons you'd think. The servers' being down doesn't bother me, and neither do broken addons or occasional lag. What bothers me is that after spending a few straight months piecing together a good-looking outfit, I'm suddenly forced into a situation where all my gear will inevitably start to mismatch as I acquire upgrades.
That's why this upcoming patch is so amazing ... Transmogrification means I can transmogrify my new gear to match what I'm wearing until I have enough pieces to swap over to a new outfit. I know that's not as exciting as transmogrifying all my gear into a cool RP outfit, but after thinking about it for a while, I think I'd prefer to keep all my RP gear in my bags for special occasions. That way they're always special, since people will only see them once in a while.
Anyway, a new patch is right around the corner, which means shiny new priest gear is on its way too! In preparation for this, I've made a gear list for priests to reference as we progress into the newest content in the coming months.
If you haven't heard yet, Blizzard has tweaked the system we've been using for the past couple of years and will now only allow players to acquire tier gear from raiding. Valor points will still be employed to purchase certain pieces of gear, but those unique set bonuses will be reserved only for players who actually enter raid dungeons. Derevka over at Tales of a Priest explains some of the details in a pretty concise way, if you'd like some extra reading for the week.

l 378 5-man dungeon gear
If you're behind the gear curve and looking to catch up or if you're just trying to piece together a new alt, the latest 5-man dungeons being introduced in patch 4.3 will be a great help at getting you closer to raiding. The three new dungeons drop ilevel 378 gear, which is the same item level as the gear you'd receive from bosses on normal mode in the Firelands.

A note about hit I have not listed any valor gear with hit on it, since I assume healers will choose the most optimized gear they can when given a choice. My reason for listing drop items with hit (or damage effects) is so healing priests can keep potential upgrades in mind when RNG dishes out extra DPS weapons or cloth gear that your raid doesn't need. In the event a DPS caster needs these particular items, you should give them priority.
If you need some input on what gear is best for holy or discipline, I'd recommend checking out my stat priority posts for holy and discipline priests. The gear you want will definitely vary depending on the type of role you take on in your group, so you'll want to use that noggin of yours to decide what is best.
Finally, I have no doubt this list is incomplete, so if I missed a piece of gear, let me know in the comments. Since the patch hasn't hit yet, it's hard to use a single database to accumulate all the available gear. I'll add anything I miss as I find it, but I appreciate any help you guys can offer until then.

Thank you for the list! I do hope it's incomplete, because if it wasn't, it would mean they'd done it again: No wand with spirit, no ring with spirit, and in many cases the VP purchase is the only one with spirit on it. Which is worse for holy priests than any other healer :-/

There are also quests for the new instances that give 378 gear: An offhand and ring with spirit, a cloth belt with spirit and crit, and gloves with spirit and haste are all available from the questline that runs through the new instances.

Now that's good news! :-)

Hey Dawn! Just wanna add a few things that you missed!
Ring: Signet of Suturing http://ptr.wowhead.com/item=77229
It drops from ALL BOSSES in Dragon Soul.

This also has a chance of dropping from ALL BOSSES.
Trinket: Bottled Wishes http://ptr.wowhead.com/item=77114
Purchased with VP.
Hope this helps! :)

Thanks Juv =) I'll add these in once I get to my destination. I'm stuck at the airport right now on a tablet so I'm limited on the amount of editing I can do. Thank you, thank you. =)

I think you also missed a VP cloak - saw it on a shopping list that I looked at yesterday.

Wow, what an amazing post! Tyvm! This is going to help sooooo much when gearing my priest ^_^.

"The old ilevel 378 valor gear that appeared at the start of patch 4.2 is also still available for purchase at the quartermasters, if you're in desperate need of some missing piece. I would, however, recommend saving your points for the newer pieces I listed above first, since valor points will be harder to accumulate in this next patch."
You seem to have forgotten that, as per usual, all of the gear from the previous tier will be purchasable with JP not VP. Unless they changed how the system works, but I think we would have seen a blue post if that was the case.

Gods, you're right. I'm such a dummy x__x I wrote this week's post on very little sleep, unfortunately. Thanks for the correction. I'll scratch that. Hearts.

No problem, honest mistake. I just started playing my priest again so this post is much appreciated.

That Fanged Tentacle is quite a beautifully done animation, creepy as it looks. Might have to grab it just as transmog fodder.

It's Deathwing... on a stick!

Won't those items be available for Justice points instead of Valor points like was done with the previous patch?
Z Nov 21st 2011 6:49PM
Bah, did not refresh before posting and Sidfish beat me to it. Ignore the above.

As a mage, am I allowed to be disappointed that there are no off-set options for the priest shoulder model? It looks like mages and warlocks could build the entire t13 set, except for those sweet shoulders. /cry
tsuki_hana_yuki Nov 21st 2011 8:47PM
Only one ring? That doesn't seem right.
Also, yet again no spirit drops for bracers, belt, and feet? Not fun, forcing priests to scrounge up valor points when everyone else can get lucky with drops.
Katherine Nov 22nd 2011 3:37PM
And to everyone complaining about spirit: in T12 I found myself reforging spirit off my gear, as I just didn't need that much. I suspect with the increase in intellect in T13, even less spirit will be needed.
On another note, looking at stats only, Dragonwrath is better than all the weapon options in T13. I'm a quarter of the way through getting seething cinders on my disco priest ;) Ugh I still have a million weeks left to go though.

Is that a Valor Helm I see?
No Valor Shoudlers though, I guess it was too good to be true.
shadowcharly Nov 24th 2011 1:38PM
I agree with jjustaposter, the main problem with spiritless-priest BIS is not the stats purely, it's the competition.
If we had a full set of cloth pieces with spirit, we could reforge it away at our own leisure, and there would be ABSOLUTELY no doubt, that a feet piece with spirit, is for the holy or disci priest FIRST, and second to the shadow priest in the crowd, nowadays, i've been bidding for 4 months against the WHOLE gang of clothies(warlocks, mages, shadow priest) for the boots of Shannox, because the tailor in mi guild is saving up the dreamcloths for the expansion (don't get me started...).
If there was a spirit-full boot in the game, priests wouldn't be so angry.
