According to the post on his site, Volpin built the hammer head out of cut styrene sheets and pvc foam board, so it's hollow, making the heaviest part of the hammer the wood handle. He states that all in all, it's around 8.5 pounds. For comparison's sake the Epic Weapons LARP version of the Doomhammer weighs 3 pounds, and their upcoming steel replica weighs 18 pounds.
