This movie is a little old. I nearly didn't run it because of timeliness issues; after all, Halloween and its in-game equivalent was nearly a month ago. Tomorrow is Thanksgiving, for goodness's sake! But then I watched the video and knew I had to feature it. SilverLetomi and Tyrannothefirst did an amazing job with Hallow's Dream, and I felt it needed to be seen.
The song is obviously well performed, and the machinima is fantastically spooky for a Hallow's End video. I definitely like the rock and roll angle, since guitars can be few and far between in contemporary machinima. The team picked out some awesome visuals to illustrate the action, leaving us with a comprehensive, fun video.
Pardon the delay on this Hallow's End video, but take the time to kick back and enjoy the fun. Then go eat some turkey tomorrow. Interested in the wide world of machinima? We have new movies every weekday here on WoW Moviewatch! Have suggestions for machinima we ought to feature? Toss us an email at moviewatch@wowinsider.com.
This would've been awesome as a video release from Blizzard, as a fan machinima it is freaking amazing. Now I want Hallow's end back so I can rock out to it while I'm looting yet another bucket for Treats.
Couple constructive critisicms, though. First, I thought it took too long to get going. At a minute the music really gets going and expectation rises but the singing starts 1/2 a minute later.
Next, someone should have fired the Headless Horseman. What over dramatic pauses he took. I know this isn't the medium he is used to, but he was only asked to say the phrases he says uncountable times a day for weeks, you would think he'd have pace. "I will send you myself." man did I leave the oven on? "To the lifeless dark." What I'm saying is it is jarring and breaks flow.
Lastly and this isn't a critisicm but someone's mother never yelled at them for doing the crackle voice. Hearing someone else do it made me giggle.
Ummm, that's weird. There was a nice, long reply to your constructive criticism but it vanished...
In short, I'll watch my timing in future songs (the first draft of this one was longer. @_@ glad I shortened it!) and I personally felt that the Horseman was in-time for the song EXCEPT that one line ("I will send you myself to the lifeless dark.") but thank you for pointing out that the timing felt off. ^^
Wait, Mom was supposed to tell me not to do that voice?

It reminds me a bit of Trans Siberian Orchestra in style. Nicely done.
