If symbiosis doesn't give you an appropriate ability for your spec, then it's probably going to be useless 2/3 of the time. However, that doesn't necessarily mean that there needs to be one ability for each spec. Most dps classes could probably receive the same ability, for example. The biggest issue's going to be what to give the druid. What would a dps warrior give to a healing druid? Would a dps paladin be able to give the druid a healing only ability or vice versa?

The ability a druid gets is determined by: 1) The druid's spec. 2) The target's class. That's 40 (or 44 if other druids are legitimate targets) possible abilities for the druid to gain. The ability a druid gives is determined by: 1) The target's class. 2) The target's role. That's (four pures, four double role classes, and two more triple role classes) 18 abilities passed out (or 22, if again druids can use symbiosis on each other AND they gain a different ability when they swap Symbioses).
